- Join Ian Scott from the Battline Podcast and I as we discuss the rumors of a new Guns N' Roses album being in the works. If it's true, how will the process go? Will it help or hurt their legacy? Come along as we discuss new happenings from the one of the biggest bands in rock...
They need IZZY back in the writing capacity...
Without Izzy it’s just a Chinese Revolver
Have not had hit songs, nor albums, nor songs with GNR sizzle since Jeff Dean Isbell left in 1991:)Just The Facts,I still love CD,especially There Was A Time:)The new re-heated Chines leftovers are abysmal musically and lyrically.Perhaps is okay:)
Completely agree, my man.
Naw he is long gone. You sound like the Kiss fans always wanting Ace Back
When you see what Slash has been able to do on the last few albums he's produced, he's perfectly capable of composing quality songs for Gun's N' Roses, it remains to be seen whether Axl will manage to sing properly.
We know he can sing on record, he sounded great on rock the rock, it's just live where he's on more bad than good days.
Slash's focus is a little too diluted to really deliver IMO. Blues records long solo tours, soundtracks, he's making another SMKC record and he's supposedly making a gnr record... To me that's a conflict. It says "I'm not getting my ideas out in gnr I need to go do it somewhere else". If Axl agrees to play ball and gets Slash excited I think there's a good gnr record. I just hope that IF they ever manage to make a record gnrs management let Slash's team handle promotion.
End of the day, if Slash isn't 100% invested the album will suck.
We all want to hear them make an absolute killer album, I think most people doubt they'll do it though, that should be the bands fire to prove everyone wrong.
That “General” song is about as good as Motleys DOW , Absolute shit …
10 pounds of shit in a 9 pound bag, Brother.
@@HairMetalGuru419sounds like a lyric off of Use Your Illusion...
I’m a GNR diehard but agree it was a major letdown. Sick of these Chinese B-sides.
Chinese Democracy totally kicks ass beginning to end! An oddly underrated masterpiece!
At least someone likes it.
@@HairMetalGuru419 hehehe
Thanks Guru for your service brother
Thank you. Seriously, I really appreciate that.
@@HairMetalGuru419 no anthony...we appreciate what you did for us.
@@patrickreeves4650 Thank you. And thank you for all your support and offering your insights on my videos. Really, it means a lot.
It’s sad, but I believe Axl blew his voice out on the AC/DC run because he sang so hard. He even stated a person could ruin their career if they’re not careful trying to sing those songs. I think he can still sound like his old voice in the studio, raw, powerful, he just shouldn’t do it night after night. When he’s on tour he has to try to save his voice otherwise they’d have to cancel shows. Album wise, everyone wants a new album, but, what do want them to sing about? Being in their sixties and being pissed off, still? Axl is starting to voice political opinions (which he criticized Iron Maiden for doing). Hopefully they still have some passion about something they can write about and still connect with the fans. Cheers to Guns N’ Roses!
I hope they make a new album and call it Use Your Illusion III. It could be a green colour maybe?
This is a great idea!!!
I completely agree with you Guru, Chinese Democracy for me doesn't sound like G'nR, I still prefer listening to Slash albums, when I think of all those years, if the band was still active in their younger years when Axel still had his voice...
Yeah, there's much of Axl's voice left. Hey, thanks for the kind words, man, I appreciate it!
I e seen la guns so many times in recent years and they will kick the shit out Guns N’ Roses
Word:)
I completely agree.
They’re all alive and well. It’s a crime that they can’t get together. Getting Izzy back to write, Slash riffing over his chord progressions and working out some back to basics hard rock… they’d be brilliant.
Slash’s band is fine but it’s like what the Freddie character said in the Queen movie, there’s no friction, no push n’ pull.
I saw them not long ago, Anastasia aside… every song structure was the same and it got a little boring after a while.
I just don’t understand the problem. Green Day, Chili Peppers, Metallica, etc .. huge bands making records. Why have GNR made it so difficult?
Izzy is the key. Nothing has ever been the same since he left.
Guru, this feels like a privilege to have so much content! Here's an idea, how about an episode where you talk about the best 21st century hair metal bands albums. H.E.A.T., Diemonds, Steel Panther, Crazy Lixx, The Darkness etc.
L.A. Cobra, Crashdiet, Mammoth WVH, Dead Daisies, etc...
Reckless Love
Lucas, that's a GREAT idea. I need to get a little more familiar with some of these bands--H.E.A.T., and Diemonds, but I love that idea. I put it on the list, Brother.
@@HairMetalGuru419 Dynazty is another good one.
song writing wise izzy..... might have been the most been the most important piece of the puzzle
I completely agree. Nothing has ever been the same since he left.
So right about groups being bloated live nowadays. Green Day is 6 guys now when it was 3. Beck has like 8 people on the stage instead of two turntables and a microphone.
Exactly, it's just gotten ridiculous. Same thing with Bon Jovi. Uggh.
Honestly I don’t think guns has anything to write about. Different time. They were rebellious.
Valid point.
I feel like if bands like Motley, GnR, Bon Jovi were to produce a killer sounding 80s style song that they can't replicate live, I don't care if they lip sync or whatever live, I'm there for the show not to listen to them butcher a good song. Sadly Axel has stated things like why would he rewrite appetite when that sound is so outdated. I think he is a lost cause as far as putting out anything 80's sounding anymore, but I'll still cross my fingers and hope I like what he does.
I honestly don't give a shit if they can perform it live... just give us some amazing songs...
Are the creative juices still there though? I mean, they were at their climax pretty quick with Appetite and Illusion. Could they do it again some 33 years later? Even get close? It happens to everyone… it’s not like Bob Dylan had another Blowin in the Wind, although Time Out of Mind was close and a masterpiece imop. Anyway, I’d be happy if GnR (please) ditch the CD leftovers and go back to some Appetite-like hard songs. Maybe even leave Dizzy temporarily by the wayside, though it’s not as if we hear him anyway. I personally think that if we are lucky enough to get another GnR album it’d be YEARS away. I don’t think Axl’s process in the recording and producing booth is too efficient, even though it worked magically in the 80’s.
I would love a new Guns album. I like the rehashed songs they have been putting out. GNR are the Kings. Bow down Guru!!
The Guru bows down before no one. ;-)
Hard School was written in the early years, so it sounds like old school GnR, but there is a reason it never made it to an album. It’s a total B side. You also forgot to mention Shadow of Your Love, an old song written during the Hollywood Rose years they released along with the other four you mentioned.
Shadow of Your Love was actually put out overseas back like '87... that's why I didn't add that one. Agreed about Hard Skool, sounds the most old school.
i doubt you will see a full fledged ode to appetite style album. it will be a product of what they live, which hardly identifies with what they were living in 1987.
if i had to guess, it will be a meld of chinese democracy, and the elton john style that they have had in songs like perhaps, and estranged.
You're absolutely right, and that's what I expect... but a guy can fuckin' wish. ;-)
I love Hard Skool give me more of that
Look if the Rolling Stones can do it surely Guns n roses can do it and the Stones have numbers one lp.
Singing the Stones stuff is drastically different than singing Guns N' Roses shit... but I definitely hear you.
I think Guns have a great debut. Use ur illusion records had too much as their egos were sky high. I saw them live with Metallica and Faith no More in 92 and Guns was by far the worst. So to me they weren't good live then so why now.
I hear you. I thought Axl sounded great with AC/DC but when I saw them live last year it was pretty weak.
Chinese Democracy rocks. End of.
At least one of us thinks so....
Now my day is good ❤
Mine, too, Brother. ;-)
So done with Axl and GnR! No thanks…
I agree Izzy is the missing part of the puzzle. Axl sounds like mickey mouse now. Steven is scattered. New album without Izzy will be a forgettable wash 😢
As i absolutely HATE "Chinese Democracy " and the latest 4 songs also the 1999 Oh My God, so the next album better have Axl singing raspy like he did with AC/DC 2016 i dont have high hopes for the next album what so ever i love the band from 1985-1996 when they broke up then Axl did the 1999 Oh My God song EEEEEEEEEEWwww and the industrial style Chinese Democracy have and the song there after YACH Axl sounds like Mickey Mouse no good anymore, no i dont expect Appetite For Destruction 2 just a great album from where they left off a rock album oh i love Lies, mostly the 4 acoustic not the life E.P that the four acoustic were added on i now kinda like Spaghetti Indecent at first i hated it sympathy for the devil good cover from there fast down hill glad i saw Guns N´Roses in 1993
I saw them in 93 as well. Completely downhill since...
Good evening Mr Guru..going ....down?
I would be curious about a new gnr album even though I thought Chinese sucked ass....can they come back with a hit? Only time will tell
We all know the delay is down to Axl.
Talk about reluctant to get into a recording studio. If it does happen we’re looking at 5 years at least because it’s a pathetic joke. I’m sick of it man. I’m a proper fan and extremely frustrated.
On April fool's Day the hair metal guru will appear on screen with a flannel t-shirt.... And a scrappy Grunge beard
NO...
use your illusion 3 avec 15 titres de feu
I think at this point get Max Martin to help write a few songs like Bon Jovi did with It’s My Life. I don’t think guns on their own will come up with something as powerful like the old records without help. Izzy ain’t coming back
And I really think Izzy was the key to the band and the sound on Appetite.
They need to get Rick Rubin to do for them what he did for Black Sabbath. He made it sound like classic Black Sabbath!
Not a bad idea....
Mama told Me Not to Come
une date?? 2024??? 25????
If you want to hear what modern GnR should sound like just listen to the recent slash solo albums with Myles Kennedy. Axl cant sing at all anymore. Honestly GnR should just stop.
Guns n roses arent hair metal at all
"Hair Metal" is a 21st century term, kinda lame,it was Glam back in the day, when I got Appetite the day itcame out it was underground-almost alternative:)
Do we really have to go through this again?
Hahaha hahaha Gnr killed that genre way before Nirvana did. I had some one tell me the Scorpions were hair metal and I couldn't stop laughing. Side note: the Use your illusions were great, listen to the songs after November rain......the garden, garden of eden, don't damn me, bad apples, dead horse and coma. Great stuff, love the channel by the way
IMO, Guns n roses should stop performing with backing and click tracks. The performances are the same tempo for every show, and the band sounds bored.
That must be why I haven't liked any of those new tracks. Chinese Democracy sucked, other than one or two songs, and they weren't anything special. I wouldn't pay to see them these days. I'd rather see Steven Adler's band. At least they sound like GNR. I saw them back in 1991 with Skidrow in Dallas. I care nothing about paying money to see what they've become, and play the same old songs. Oh well, it's not that important at the end of the day. Just a nice distraction.
That's because Steven was integral to their sound. He hardly ever gets the credit he deserves. When Axl, Slash and Duff play GnR songs without Steven it sounds like a cover band, when Steven plays GnR songs with *ANYBODY* it sounds exactly like GnR.
Agreed, I think I'd rather see Adler's band at this point.
