    You are a very good teacher. Great job with showing using the respirator! I’m retired from doing commercial pest control and a respirator is very important to use with any exposure to chemicals or spray.
    I’m thinking my Jeep is going to look pretty good with the new grey color.

    Dude, good tip on pulling the bag out from the inside of the wheel. I always put the car on jack stands and take the wheels off, but I had a customer with an EV and he was apprehensive about putting the car on jack stands and worried about the batteries getting punctured so I had to leave the wheels on the car and use the bags. When i pulled them out i was a little paranoid about scuffing the new dip. Didn't even think of pulling them out from the back!

    Another amazing video bro... I personally think this is so much better than buying black powder coated rims... they look great outa the box, but they fade bad and damage easily... you can always reapply your dip and freshen those rims right back up. Looks good. I would have taken the off the car to paint. Question is what happens to the rims when u have to change the tires? Some how i dont think it will hold up to the tire machine.

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all, the tire machine will erupt the edges of the rim unraveling the wrap. Unfortunately the wheel will have to be redone if using hyperdip, with plasti dip you can fix damaged areas without having to peel and redo.

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the compliment. With paint runs you can try lightly wet sanding with 600 grit sandpaper, once you’ve achieved a smoother level proceed with additional coats.

    Do I need 12 coats using the piano black color also or just 6 coats? Thanks..Very informative

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  ปีที่แล้ว

      12 hyperdip coats is a standard that I prefer to follow, 8-10 coats will do. The more coats that you apply will be a benefit for longevity and durability.
      6 coats are standard for plasti dip products which is different materials.

  • @DeadSkinMask32
    @DeadSkinMask32 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Great video. Great explanation on all the steps. For me, I always just took the rims off the vehicle. Easier to work with, better coverage in the in the lug nut holes, and easier on the body, lol.. I would also use either business cards, or a deck of cards, and insert them in the lip of the rim all the way around to avoid getting product in tires.

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks and yeah I use to do the same but after realizing that spraying it properly I got the same results. You already know that I had to knock out the removing wheel step.

    So do I let EVERY coat dry for at least 10 minutes. Even the light dust ones?

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’re temperature will determine how long you wait, by touching the rubber on the tire to test if it’s dry or not will help. If the dip on the tires rubber is dry you can proceed with the next coat. 10 minutes is the average flash time between coats 70🌡 and up

    How does it hold up against winters like the ones we get in NYC? And also with pressure washing?

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When it’s applied correctly you won’t have any issues with hand, drive through or pressure washing, I actually uploaded a video about car washing if you’re interested.
      As for the cold weather you won’t have any issues, if you don’t have a paint booth I suggest that don’t you try to spray rims whenever the weather is below 60 degrees.

      @@Azeminad SUPER WELL! They are still holding up fine. Can wash the car no problem, get a ton of compliments. Will do it again after I put on some A/T tires this winter, assuming the tire replacement pulls the Hydrodip off. The process took about 3-4 hours all in all, but was easy and straightforward. Slow and steady with the layers makes a difference and avoids the drip. 10/10

    • @newtouchauto

      Yes the wrap will be come damaged from tire changes, you’ll more than likely have to redo the areas or just remove the wrap around the lugs.

    how do you get it to be wet all over consistently for the coats without over spraying? it seems like if im too far away it doesn't get wet but if i get too close with the can it runs. i can't find the balance for those coats.

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s all in the motion and knowing when to move without creating any paint runs. It’s a common thing if you’re a beginner but it’s also easy to overcome. You never wanna spray too close, if you’re too far away from the surface just keep spraying the panel with overlapping sweeps until it wets out. Read your paint as you spray and determine wether or not it’s wet enough and avoid paint the runs appearing.

    No need to sand it down at all to prep? I have factor wheels but the coating is peeling and flaking…I want to hyper dip them but I assume I’d need to sand them down, etc. Prior to prepping and adding hyper dip?
    How long will this typically last? Changing tires, etc. Won’t damage it in the future? Lastly….if there was any spot that ever ripped off or cut, are you able to ‘repair or spot’ hyper dip to get it back new? Sorry for all the questions 😁

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it’s up to you wether you want to sand the rims or not, if it doesn’t bother you that it won’t be a smooth finish no but if you’re wanting a more flawless finish then sand them.
      One of the main benefits for this type of product is the no sanding required because at the end of the day it’s removable paint. However spraying over damaged clear coat or curb rashes the wrap will mimic everything.
      Here’s a video link that’ll help you with your questions about rim damage and hyperdip.

    How many cans to do all 4 wheels at 12 coats? Thanks

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re welcome and thank you checking out the video. Some will mention that 1 can per wheel is the way for plasti dip but in actuality it’ll determine the sz also. With hyperdip your dealing with a more professional and different product vs plasti dip, all 5 cans will be needed in order to get the proper peel ability when the time comes to remove it.
      With plasti dip the process is faster bc you only need 5-6 coats to obtain a proper removal vs hyperdip which I spray 12 coats but 10 will do. Keep in mind that if you’re adding gloss, satinizer or pearls to plasti dip that’ll consist of 3-4 additional coats.

    I'm sorry ... What do you mean by wet coat? A heavier coat than the previous coat. I don't wanna mess it up.
    Also do you need 12 coats for emblems and window chrome? I'm using piano black

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Normally I do 12 coats of hyperdip for durability and peel ability, spraying fewer coats can potentially make the peel process hard to remove. Light dust coats are misting the spray onto the surface and not tryna fully cover your surface. Medium coats are when you’re aiming to cover the surface but not overlapping your spray patterns completely. Fully wet coats are when you spray a 50/50 overlapping spray patterns as seen in the video. If you’re interested I have a video uploaded on spraying emblems that’ll explain it more.

    is there a way to hyperdip the rims but not the lug nuts? without taking off the tire as well

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not to my knowledge other than performing the extra work of taking off each lug and tapping them off then placing them back on. In cases where you remove the wheels and you don’t want the lugs painted it’s easier bc you don’t have to worry about the paint damaging the lugs when placing them back on.

    I'm over in Florida too....how do you deal with the humidity? I don't want that orange peel effect

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly the orange peel is usually with the plasti dip products, the hyperdip products lay down much smoother. Whenever you’re out doors you’ll wanna avoid windy, rainy or days of rain moisture in the air. Days where the temperature is 85+ degrees outside is a no no spraying outside so you’ll wanna avoid that. Anything 65-80 with no winds is perfect also avoid spraying in direct sunlight, the dip will literally dry before it settles on a surface leaving you with a textured finish.

    • @newtouchauto

      That’s true, you can’t spray the hyperdip over plasti dip. The good thing is that with dip on wheels it’s much easier for me to peel the thicker areas, apply the dip dissolver on the thinner areas and pressure wash g the hem using a high pressure nozzle

    Is the reason you don't take the wheel off before doing because of the lug nuts ? And won't the lug nuts peel and scratch when removing them? So wouldn't it be better to not do them?

    • @newtouchauto
      @newtouchauto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s optional for those who feel the need to remove them but after doing as many as I have there’s no need. I’ve noticed that
      1) You avoid the damages putting tires back on
      2) Less time consuming taking tires off
      3) You can achieve the same exact finish as if you sprayed them off the car
      You most definitely have to understand that this product isn’t permanent paint so whenever you need the tires changed there’s a strong possibility of rips. The lugs doesn’t bother me on or off though.

      @@newtouchauto thanks for the info.. so glad I ran across your video I learn a lot of stuff from people like you.. think I will try the plasti dip gun metal on my wheels since I'm a rookie.. and I didn't think about when replacing a tire they will probably be ruined but for around $10 i guess its not bad if you have to re do it. So more than likely when you put a lug wrench on the lugs it will ruin them huh? And will that also mess up the part on the wheel you think? 1) Why do you not remove the rim from vehicle to spray?
    2) How long between coats do you wait?
    3) If you spray the lugs and rims on car, will you have damage and need to respray once you have to remove the rim?

      1) It’s optional so you can remove the wheels but it’s also unnecessary bc you can achieve the same look and save time and potential damage putting them back on.
      2) Your temperature will play a huge role with spraying but normally 10-15 minutes in between coats.
