I'm going to write and leave this here since far too many people either misconstrue the meaning of the video or see the title, show up, leave a hyper-original comment(usually involving something like "child" or "baby"), and then dip without ever even watching it or understanding its content. While these comments don't really bother me, it does sadden me to see people write off this piece do to a misconception or some other reason, as there's no real reason a community should split like this. Everyone should want the best for their game and for other players of the game's community. Even if you don't raid or care about raiding, which is completely fine, it still doesn't make much sense to rag on other players because they don't play the way you do. We are players too just like you, we just preferred to focus on different content than you, and there's nothing wrong with that.
The point of this video isn't to "stick it to ZoS" or clap back at them in any way. I stated multiple times in the video that they do not care about their player base. Why would I ever make a video directed towards them with this in mind? "Announcing myself leaving for clout" is also not the point. I haven't uploaded to this channel in years, and have no serious plans to going forward. If I wanted clout that badly, I would've been chasing it long before I made this. The point of this video is to share my experiences with the game as a player, to share what I have learned about the game and its developers and community, to express my many issues with the game and how it has evolved over time, and to ultimately show the conclusion that I had reached after all the time I have spent playing. There is no point in making a video calling out ZoS, they do not care. I can however possibly influence players to have a different understanding of the game going forward and to provide caution to those who are thinking of playing this game. I possibly can also be an example to people who feel like they are obligated to keep playing the game to finally leave themselves, and to show them that you don't have to trap yourself through sunk cost fallacy.
"Why deconstruct everything? You're only hurting yourself, this is pointless. Just take a break and come back in a couple years when you feel like playing again." I didn't just pointlessly deconstruct everything. You can see me trading everything, gold and materials, to a friend who does still play the game. Now granted, there is a good chance I still would've deleted everything on my account anyways if I didn't trade to a friend. One of the reasons is to ensure that I never get the urge to return and fool myself into thinking the game has changed only to be disappointed and frustrated all over again. During my time playing, there has been a constant cycle where the developers will improve the game a bit, and then a couple patches later start tanking the game all over again. I cannot trust a company that places all of their resources on complacency and monetization schemes instead of improving the game, and I will never return to it.
"Of course you're gonna get bored, all you do is one thing!" I don't know how this came about. I focused on one thing, that doesn't mean its the only thing I do. I had stated that I would sometimes do dungeons whether it be veteran or hard mode runs, random normal farming, or gear farming; I would PvP, I would do specific quests to gain more skill points to make my toons more flexible, I would level new toons and complete sky shard and lore book runs on them, I even started doing some housing towards the end since I had accumulated a large sum of gold from running with carry services. I focused on raiding because it was the most enjoyable and the most rewarding to me, despite how little rewards were offered. Questing quickly became boring since it offered basically 0 reward outside of a handful of things including the Tamriel Hero title(plus I didn't find the story all that interesting or enjoyable), dungeons were ok when I didn't grow tired of them from constantly farming my random normals every day, and PvP was fun when it worked. Trials for me were the most interesting and engaging part of the game. I also never grew bored of them, I only grew more and more fed up with the constant negative game-altering changes that the development team kept pushing through. Trials were fun till the end.
This wasn't made as a "that'll show them!" type of video, nor was it made to complain for the sake of complaining. It's here as a commentary piece on what the game has been to many players like myself and what the game has come to over time. Hopefully this clears things up a bit and helps people see the point I'm trying to make in a better, or at least different, light.

That 3k hours you spent...guess what..you could have learned a whole new skill and practically mastered it, and then made good money and career. I agree with your choice. If this protects physiological and physical well being, then there is no need for explanation. I’m a solo player, I don’t have any skills even though I’m over CP600. Recently I started soloing four man group dungeons but got discouraged when the first gate in banished cells (normal) would not open. It took me over 3 years to build up the courage to try this. I was ok with not being able to complete the dungeon, but to be stopped because of a glitch was off putting. I have respect for skilled players who go out of their way, to look out for players like me. I’m not in a guild, but most of my gear were bought from people like you who did the time grinding for them. Whereas, I spend most of the time trying to get in game coins to purchase them. After all these years I still don’t have a complete build. I somewhat, understand the frustration. I’m still working to complete at least one build.
Keep your head up, take the time you need to mourn the lost, and know that you will be missed.

Just remember that letting go of old parts of yourself (while it feels very empty at first) will make room for new parts of yourself to grow. Sorry the game did this like you man, unfortunate turn of updates, but overall this video radiates positivity because there's potential to learn that sometimes letting go of an attachment (especially one this big coming from fellow soul gamer) is what needs to happen before you start leveling up on the cosmic scale, not just the mmo scale. It was constant gear grind that did me in. I would have roughly fifteen to twenty hours a week I could actually spend playing, and it felt like every time I finally got a full set of gear to replace the gear that just got reworked and my class skills got changed, and it would ruin my build. Then I'd have to go and grind a newer different set, to make a new build with the new gear, or old reworked gear that now worked for my build in the way the gear I was using no-longer did, and then they'd rework that gear in a hotfix or update, and I'd have to start all over again. No one wants to grind a dungeon several dozen times or more praying to RNG for the gear you need only to finally get it, waist your rare resources raising it's quality, and then have it changed and reworked the next day. I got to a point where my gear was becoming obsolete faster than I could farm it, and I had to take a long hard look at the time I spent playing the game, and realize I wasn't doing any of the new story content, or my daily's, or even spending time with player friends, because my only method of play, was login que for specific dungeon and pray for gear, on repeat, the same dungeon, to the point where I mentally checked out and felt like I wanted to go back to work so I could enjoy myself. When I started realizing I was having more fun at work, than I was playing a game, I knew it was time to quit playing ESO.

Been playing since the open beta and loved the game, but i have never been one for MMO's like WoW etc, so I played this more like Skyrim, enjoying the Solo story lines, left the game for months even years while i started playing games like Valorant and so on, then came back to this after couple years and playing it from the start with a new build just to enjoy the dlc and i can see for dedicated vets that grinded for so long how this is so wrong and i understand why you would want to leave, but maybe give it time and hopefully they can bring this back, if Battlefield could have one of the worst launches but then bring back the community after months of hate maybe ESO can too

So the most I can do is give other players the information that one day even they can be stabbed in the back by this corrupt company.

I laud your efforts to play as long as you did and support other players. I posit most things in life, like ESO, eventually become old, busted, or boring, whether a game, an automobile, or a job. I maintain that many, if not most players, will eventually max out their playing abilities and characters such that the game seems boring, as you note. This plateau may transpire over many years on its own or may be aggravated by "challenges" in devs managing game design and application, as we have seen this past year. Some players enjoy the game for years and progress relatively slowly while others peak in less than one year. I assert that a negative or positive view of game progression is a matter of perspective that differs widely amongst players. Hats off to you for graduating and elevating to new heights, wherever that may be. I suggest you start over and learn to play with one eye and/or one hand as a new challenge and see how that takes! I'd like to see that. Cheers mate.

The PvP community has more holes in it than Swiss cheese and has been dead for a long time. As a matter of fact, the ESO PvP community has been dead for so long that there's hardly any pvp'ers left to point out all the atrocities committed against us. Dead men tell no tales. No one would even remember us if we didn't have bitter retirees like myself hanging around to remind everyone, like a stinking corpse beneath the floorboard. I am thankful to the author for being warned in advanced, and will try to just patiently build up my characters.

As someone that has played this game on and off since the very beginning it really sucks to see this because it is such a beautiful game and I've always enjoyed everything about it. I never got into raiding because I mainly did all my raiding in world of Warcraft and I didn't have time to do that in two separate games which takes a lot of time and effort. I have backed off from raiding for the last 4 years. I bounced around different games I don't spend too much time in one game anymore. I have been seeing more and more people quit elder scrolls online recently and even though I've always been casual in the game I know that the raiding community is probably one of the main communities that makes a game great along with PVP which that's another topic.
The best thing to take away from all of this is it's about the memories about the times that you had with friends in the game the people that you got to know that you would have never met otherwise and I think that's probably the thing that people remember most

i have been in a raiding guild it was very fun but then the update that ended it all came and the guild i was in died out and i was left amongs others who still endure and play the game with a strong flame, we feel the rain down our fire but it never will turn to ash. i feel for you its sad and specialy watching you destroying your lifes work, what if it becomes better? then you stand there with the wisdom but empty handed until you reach out and friends return with a smile that you are back and kicking. i engjoy the game in my own right i am a GM of a pretty chilled Guild ive been leading about 3k hours so i know the pain you are in, all i hope is ESO will be going into a new light, and it looks like 2023 might be the one its to early to say it but hope never dies. cheers all hope you will find your forever mmo Peace out.

I feel you man. I've been in this situation with many mmos over the years so now I have zero trust in them. SWG, LOTRO etc, all eventually pull some revamp shit that completely ruins everything. I got burned out on eso after 500 dungeon runs without getting the drop I needed, now I just play GW2 (which has plenty of its own problems) but has even better gear longevity than eso and the pvp is in marginally better state. Raiding is a bit on the easy side but I'm getting older and slower so that suits me.

I left DCUO and eventually found ESO. I'll leave ESO one day and hopefully I find another MMO like it. I'm not a fan of tab target mmos with 400 ability icons on screen. I like the real time action combat of ESO

This is a sad truth that I understand completely. The performance issues, constant combat changes, frequent game breaking bugs, and lack of communication to the direction of the game has worn me out from ESO. If not for all of this I would probably still be enjoying ESO now. I stopped the endless grind to farm better gear, do dps parses, and every other endgame activity. Since the terrible performance in a vka hard mode run I had back in March or May of 2022, I decided to retire from ESO. I only come back to ESO these days to when some of my long-time ESO buddies want to hang out and do some dungeons every now and then or someone specifically requests my help with completing a piece of content. A lot of other people in the guilds I am a part of have quit ESO. I see the member numbers get smaller and smaller every occasional time I log into the game.

Very Sad to hear. I've been playing this game since it dropped. Originally on PS4 now currently over the last few years on Xbox One.
I've had some amazing times and have met some amazing people... But, I truly understand this video.
It's sad how such an amazing game can be killed simply by its producers wanting to continue to give us SHIT... There's never nothing new as you said, just things we already have being reworked and recolored.
They need to learn to Respect their players as we've respected them throughout the years.
I have also left twice, but I continue to come back to see if anythings changed for the better,... Sadly it hasn't.

This must have been really hard to do, especially for someone who put so many hours and effort into the game, but you absolutely hit the nail on the head of the all things currently wrong with ESO: the roller-coaster combat changes, the horrible performance, the lack of rewards (and like you said 'the insultingly low-effort in-game rewards'), the aggressive monetization, and most of all, the tone-deaf developers. I'd only recommend ESO to someone who would be interested solely in questing and could find it on sale, but getting to endgame pve or pvp would only lead to frustration. It's such a pity because this game has so much potential, having one of the best combat systems out there, but the developers seem like they want to destroy everything good about it (and I do think it's because of lack of resources, especially in the last couple of years because the studio is working on another project). We've had a gamebreaking block bug for a month now, and it's still not fixed, ruining trial progs, and making pvp really frustrating, block not working in another MMO would be prioritized asap, but in ESO it will maybe get fixed two months later, if we are lucky. Anyway, thank you for sharing this the video, though it was probably really upsetting to make, but you talked about this very constructively and without bias or drama, and I only hope ZOS sees what they are doing is driving long-time loyal players away, and will lead to the demise of the raiding community eventually.

At this point, they've destroyed pretty much everything that makes this game a "MMO" (things that involve multiple players). The PvP community died years ago, and now they're killing the end game PvE community off too. Pretty soon all it's going to have left is questing, which you might as well be playing Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim at that rate... Oh and Roleplay, but Roleplay communities tend to thrive in games that are successful and have other big communities for RP'ers to recruit from, so it wouldn't surprise me if that's on the decline too.
