stop calling A.I a tool. art made by A.I is like microwave pizza, you don't make the pizza you just heat it, how can you compare this to someone who makes the dough puts the ingredients and cooks it. a tool helps you in the process and does not do the process for you in the same way that you are not a cook for preparing microwave food.
Said by somebody who doesn't know how the tool works. Using it to literally make art for you is clearly not what people mean when they say "use AI as a tool", obviously. It gives you elements for character designs, among other things. Do you refuse to call those pose reference dolls tools because the body is already made for you? Makes no sense.
00:50 "And the story never ends, you can just continue"... That sounds like a nightmare. What I like in stories is that they have a beginning and and end, the situation at these two points are different, and I enjoy seeing the characters and the event develop though it coherently with the vision of the author, and convey a message or sometimes thematising a toping and raising a lot of questions that might be left unaswered and give to the audience the task of reflecting on the content of the story, which is selected and reasoned and COMPLETE. Series that never end usually degrade quality because, as we say in Italian, "they add too much water into the broth", meaning that if the broth (story) is good and people like it, you might want to make it longer (add water or episodes), but if you do this too much, the broth/story will lose its taste/core.
I have such mixed feelings on AI art both good and bad. Though the heart of the creative artist will never be smothered by AI, and that along makes me hopeful for creative artists.
AI has a ton of potential to help animators in particular in a perfectly ethical way, but right now the technology is being guarded by profit-seekers who aren’t interested in creating a tool to ethically solve a problem (labor intensity of animation) but instead they’re trying to make an infinite novelty machine that they can sell to people as a useful tool.
@@uhwaykin Perfectly said. The potential is there. There are lots of ways actual artists could use the tech to make their workflows better, but as long as it exists in these for-profit walled gardens and is developed through poached data, no self respecting creative can make full use of it without feeling ashamed. If the cat is out of the bag and the tech can't be stopped, then it should at least be open source and freeware for everyone. Then at least it would really be something that lowers barriers and can uplift artists.
as someone that finds a lot of fulfillment making nsfw artwork, these generators have absolutely ran wild on sites like r34 and pixiv, but the thing with them is that all they can generate is generic, same body type, very mild posing anime girls, nothing that could actually connect and correspond to people's attractions that can be very specific and weird lol, and i dont feel like theyll ever be able to do that, so i haven't felt threatened
It takes a scary amount of passions for nsfw works. You pick your niche target market and draw for them and it’s weird sometimes but also feels like nothing else.
@@Kongongongg i know what it can do lol, I often scroll tags on these websites and have to get through the ai garbage, they're not just girls standing that was an exaggeration, but they are all pale skinned, have unrealistic crazy lighting, look over exposed, their heads don't match their bodies, and they still do not portray anything beyond very vanilla things that appeal to a lowest common denominator, which is fine, but there no competition for actual R34 artists
@@GingeryGingerYeah! This applies to non-nsfw artwork too. The more specific and weird your creations are, the more you express yourself and make a distinct style for yourself in the broad landscape!
I bet horse breeders said the same thing about cars. If you can draw, that's great, but a lot of people can't and AI lets them create an unlimited amount of awesome artwork. If you want to be selfish and only care about how AI effects you personally, that's fine, but you should at least acknowledge that it's a huge benefit to everyone who can't draw.
@@SirGriefALot benefit how? For a quick buck? I draw for fun. I've tried using ai, and it's not fun. I don't have much to do with the process, I just ask and I receive something. Where's the fun in that? Ai art has only been beneficial to those who only care about earning more and more money, some of those people like to do it just to piss off artists. Ai is only useful for references for Artists, but then again it gets things wrong, so it's better to use real images as reference. If someone wants to be creative then just start drawing, or you could try 3D art using blender, a free software that doesn't take long to get used to. Anyone can be an artist, but now there's gonna be less and less beginners because of ai. People will start using ai art as an excuse to not learn to draw or sculpt. I'm not being selfish, I just think the existence of ai art is not a good thing. Its not going to be beneficial to society, its just going to put people out of jobs and ruin their life's. It's already doing that, I could say the same thing for voice actors too and maybe musicians if the ai gets better.
@@SirGriefALot There are MANY MANY resources for those people to learn and even those who claim they cant can, we have already long since "democratized" art and its accessibility to everyone to produce. Even seen disabled people able to draw still so I find the "some can't draw" argument is Ignorant and Naive. Especially comparing Art to Vehicles/Travel methods. I seen what those who used it make and majority of it is either mid and generic as those they claim make "mid generic art", bottom of the barrel material. Those who even made deep things are few and far between outside surface level. AI users are no less creative than those they claim in modern entertainment are majority of the time.
The key difference is between being creative and thinking of yourself as creative. While AI lowers the barrier to think of oneself as creative, it does not make people creative. While a bike does enable you to go faster, it does not make you, intrinsically, faster as a person. However, the value of art in part comes from how intrinsic it is to the artist; this is why AI art is “soulless”.
So cool to see a touhou fanartist in this video, def one of the most creative fandoms I've recently gotten into! Obv it's still overrun with AI cuz Anime Girls™️ just kinda have that happen to them but nothing beats the decades worth of fan works.
I sat up in my seat when I saw that art of Nitori (the girl in blue with the green hat and backpack). Every _Touhou_ fan artist usually has a runaway favourite; it seems Shiratamaha's is the twin-tailed _kappa._ Everyone else, remember: just because it has Anime Girls™ doesn't mean it's actually anime.
@@spunchflopbadpants I mean not exactly reposting, it's probably correctly to call it reuploading. Cuz in DA you should really only post your own works, but there're weirdos who literally upload tons of other artists' works in huge packs, not even bother to leave the caption of who is actual artist, which is damn confusing if you look at feed and see art, going to the page of a user expecting to see more of his works and see it's just reuploader. And from comments it's seen that there's actually people who are totally buying that this person is actually the artist of all those incoherent uploads. It's kinda messed up.
One of the big problems with AI "art" too is that nobody will feel satisfaction for their "work", it's like if you play a game and then use cheats to get everything instantly.

It's honestly a glorified algorithm like a search engine with a college of data taken from various people and sources. Nothing special about it nor even is as advanced as they're making it out to be.
A.I should only be used for the most annoying parts like hyper realistic textures for 3d. Unique dialogue for non important random npcs. Masking footage so you can chroma key it. Great video! I saw the first one a while ago, liked it a lot as well. I really loved your videos about dandadan, too. I don't know how to say this, or if it's even appropriate, but while watching this video an epiphany struck me. I am an artist myself and I've been in a slump for the past 2 years or so. Drawing has been painful, numb somehow. Everytime I finish a piece, I feel a strong surge of euphoria for a couple of hours, but it all slips away and I'm left with a feeling of inferiority. Even if I think that a piece is not bad at all, I feel unsatisfied with it in a way that makes me absolutely miserable. It's hard to describe, but it's a very deep feeling of emptiness. It feels as though I don't have a soul at all. Like I don't have anything to fuel my art with. Midway through watching the video, I thought "Woah, this guy's really passionate. He notices and appreciates every detail. How nice. A person like him must be proud of being an artist". And suddenly I felt an urge to cry. It has been so long since I felt pride for being an artist. I've been feeling embarassed for even mentioning that I draw or write or do whatever else. And, I feel, that lack of pride in my craft is the reason for my sadness. I don't want to feel empty anymore. I truly, with all my sincerity, want to be on good terms with myself in that way. I want to draw and be happy about it. I want to draw like a kid again, like there's a burning inside of my brain that can only be soothed by releasing my feelings onto the page. Seriously, thank you. Thank you so much. I'm so glad I saw this video. I feel weak as I'm typing this, there's a dizziness in my whole body. It's like I've been given a divine right to draw again, draw for myself. Thank you. Thank you.
FUCK. First off, thank you for taking the time to write this. I’m glad the video could help in any small way. And you should absolutely be proud of the art you make! I totally understand that feeling though. I’ve been there many, many times. Where my art work doesn’t look right, or i feel like my skills are lacking compared to others. And that’s why I love making videos like this fr. I just get to gush about all the cool things i like in a drawing. It’s always really nice to get some validation from fans/peers but those same positive comments can just bounce off if you don’t believe they’re true. It’s tough. Being able to draw and have the same feeling you did when you were a kid…that spark? That’s what i think everyone’s chasing. Even on days you feel like shit it’s important to remember that feeling for sure. PS if you sharing your art online i’d love to see it! What’s your @??
I’m glad this video blew up, it’s important. Also as an artist myself it just feels nice to see someone so openly gush about human artists at a time when being an artist is incredibly difficult.
As an artist who is very worried about the future of the creative industry, I am glad that at least someone is able to recognize the beauty of art and take time to appreciate it. It’s good to know there is some hope left for us.
in the professional creative feild theres actually alot of talk ab streamlining ai... by artists themselves. i think pure generative ai definitely has its downsides, but for the most part in the industry ai has allready been included in alot of ways you wouldnt have expected, like spiderverse using ai with maya in order to create the lines for basically every single character, and Klaus basically stylisitically lives and dies by its use of AI. Theres stuff outside of that to like ai being able to put down base colors for animtions, ai helping some background artists with their workflow. And especially with alot of indie productions ai genuinely becomes a valuble resource for gettting something you need quickly and cheaply, when you simply dont have the resources or its not your area of expertise, like the guy that did the blender stop motion style scooby doo animation. same goes for making assets for games. DO I THINK THERE WILL BE RAMIFICATIONS , yes, but not all of them bad nor all of them good. in the professional space right now though the general consensous is that ai can be good for streamlining alot of the busy work nobody really wants to do, redoing a render on some concept art you made when you can just take your original piece, slam it into an ai that slightly changes its colors and rendering style, and then use that to present instead comes in really handy when the alternative to pitching a piece of concept art is staying up and wasting another 2 hours on unpaid overtime, and can make a production overall much smoother and more on time, without any of the actually ai generated peices ever making it to the public outside of maybe some art books. But this definitely runs the risks of potentially replacing some artists in the workplace mostly because the artists being replaced are just kinda doing busy work as opposed to directly contributing anything creatively, especially in bigger studios thats pretty common. the poeple with creative input it seems are generally safe even with ai existing, you cant replicate like... the core pitch of the story, or original concpet art of important characters, or even animators, the main creative voices should stay intact on most productions, its the potential loss of entry level jobs that would be the main problem, but honestly thats happening right now anyways even without ai, streaming services being profitable for 2 years and then crashing did infinitely more damage to the industry than ai ever will tbh. But thats just my 2 cents from what ive seen being talked about in more professional circles in the tv, game, and film industry, i can see the coin being flipped for professional comic artists and illustators tho, but i honestly dont interact with too many on a day to day basis so i couldnt tell you too much outisde a couple of stray comments from some friends who interact more with that side of the artistic world.
I am someone who’s mental health leaves me in bed most times, where online, where drawing, where writing, where animating, where editing, is the only thing I can do. And seeing something I made with my own hands makes me feel less hopeless, like there is something, just one small thing, that I will find as long as I don’t go. And that thing will give me enough energy to not need the inertia that making things gives me, and as long as I keep creating things with my own two hands I can keep having that inertia making me move forward, for at least one more minute. If you didn’t pick up on it yet, creating things keeps me alive, and I don’t know what would happen if it goes away and I’m scared to find out. I’m sorry that this is dark, I just wanted to talk.

I still think that instead of shunning it, more artists should find ways to use AI to enhance their own skills. there will always be a difference between human creativity and ai's. we aren't going anywhere any time soon, but we should use every tool we can. gatekeeping gets us nowhere (i am not an "ai artist" but i occasionally use things like chat gpt for inspiration or help on some creative choices)
We don't do it for miyasaki only, we do it for all the artist that came out to teach the world and we should too give to the world, while ai will fall as a software for the common, artist will always create no matter how big the tide, it is our duty to keep teaching art because tech doesn't teach it automates

I feel like this whole ai situation is gonna push people to look inward and make the art they feel pulled towards the most. At least for me I took a step back and thought of what drove me to draw in the first place. That’s why I continue to make fun art and push myself to grow and ironically I feel this is the most drive I’ve had to make art in my life so far.
i don't think people doing art will stop existing, just the vocation in popular media will make most artists obsolete. as for stopping it i don't think it's possible, there's more people who want it than those who are against it and it keeps improving too which is more scary because there will come a point where you can't even compete with it, not even close.
it kinda baffles me how people can like an art something about it dosent sit right with me there’s no charm to it. also i think another concern regarding ai art is it could disgorge beginner artists in a way, “why draw when you can just generate an image”
I agree that Human artists are definitely better than AI, the collaboration between artists can also create some amazing content. This is why I prefer to use AI art as references when I can't find what I need on the internet.
I'm kind of demotivated to pursue art and any creative process because of fear of ai. Yes, ai won't be compared to human artistry (for now), but it seems like there's less value to do art, because a lot of niche professions could just go away. The artist you've shown are great. But to start making some sort of career myself, I feel intimidated to continue.
It's actually so crazy how we've gotten to a point in our lives where AI has advanced so much that whenever we see any form of digital art that's really good there's just that bit of doubt that it might be AI
An example I know of someone being affected by ai is dragons of wales, he makes very realistic pieces of dinosaurs and other creatures, doing photo bashing in many of his works, but he’s been accused of using ai by multiple people even though he’s been doing this ways before ai generates images were a thing. It’s very infuriating.
I do think it is a great tool to help artists workers and writers for extraneous tasks. James Lee is a great example of somebody who uses AI to assist with something he had to usually do bit by bit over hours. Just like anything made by us Humans the potential to do something may be good or may be bad. A Stick of wood ,hardened can be used as a wandering Staff or a crook but can also be used to beat people up. Nuclear power can be used to cleanly sustain all of Humanity if it would be used cautiously but it is also putting the Fear of Calamity in you through Radiation and being able to summon a Star on the surface of our planet if just for a millionth of a second. AI Can help us do something on our own while learning our mannerisms to do something that takes far too long but needs to be done so we can be productive about something else. But at the end it is used by people to steal peoples work through said Programs by letting it study somebody who had to work for years , perhaps decades to reach that high without any Laws in place and then sell it as their own without even remote effort beyond a semi coherent Prompt from the Abuser. Its never the tools. Its always the People using or abusing them. Dont Blame the Tool for it merely does what it is made to do. Humans are miserable piles of Greed and blaming the tool is just as short sighted as Abusing a Tool. This is nearly as dumb as people Blaming Guns alone in America wanting them gone now of all when you can find half a dozen in every single household Legal or Illegal. People Still dont get that you cant solve such issues by bashing your head against a wall.
Ai art should at most be used for concept art, placeholder assets, and higher fidelity interpolation. Ai voices have no place in voiceover work with the exception of Ai npc's. Ai writing should again be used for npc's, as a sounding board to help you come up with ideas, and possibly proofread. One thing that as a layman i would love Ai to do is retopology because fuck that shit.
Saying 'maybe those people should not be there in the first place' is a tone-deaf statement because, without those people, AI would not have any material to learn from.

Series that never end usually degrade quality because, as we say in Italian, "they add too much water into the broth", meaning that if the broth (story) is good and people like it, you might want to make it longer (add water or episodes), but if you do this too much, the broth/story will lose its taste/core.
@@elisaelisaross no offense but, it’s your choice. It’s a weird feature but it’s like watching a bad movie, it’s bad, but you don’t have to do it.
Exactly! A story with no ending is not a story at all. No wonder people want _The Simpsons_ to end yesterday.
3:03 love the sudden “Don’t look her up.”
I have such mixed feelings on AI art both good and bad. Though the heart of the creative artist will never be smothered by AI, and that along makes me hopeful for creative artists.
İ agree with you
AI has a ton of potential to help animators in particular in a perfectly ethical way, but right now the technology is being guarded by profit-seekers who aren’t interested in creating a tool to ethically solve a problem (labor intensity of animation) but instead they’re trying to make an infinite novelty machine that they can sell to people as a useful tool.

So you saw grnAI images on r34 but you still don’t know what genAi can do more than just one girl standing? lol

Nice, hopefully I get good enough to be in one of these.

@@SirGriefALot
There are MANY MANY resources for those people to learn and even those who claim they cant can, we have already long since "democratized" art and its accessibility to everyone to produce.
Even seen disabled people able to draw still so I find the "some can't draw" argument is Ignorant and Naive.
Especially comparing Art to Vehicles/Travel methods.
I seen what those who used it make and majority of it is either mid and generic as those they claim make "mid generic art",
bottom of the barrel material.

Every _Touhou_ fan artist usually has a runaway favourite; it seems Shiratamaha's is the twin-tailed _kappa._
Everyone else, remember: just because it has Anime Girls™ doesn't mean it's actually anime.
I love these showcases! They inspire me so much and heighten my appreciation for the field. Bravo!

Always loved Bryan o'malley artstyle on works like seconds and ofc scott pilgrim, I've yet to see a artstyle that is quite similar and I've been using pixiv for years! Great video! Glad you did another one.

Someone already said something similar to this, but I hope my art is seen like you see these artists. This video motivates me to maximize on my digital art just to stick it to people that I’m a real person who puts heart and soul into her work, not a generator.
the fact that you think this way and make stuff with your own skills already makes me believe you already put your heart in soul into it.
Ai ain't art, it's the work many different people copied then mashed together to produce slop
It's should at most only be used to aid in tedious tasks to help humans but never to replace humans
Making a animation or art with ai skips the individual steps that make an art piece good and highly personal to the artist and viewer
IMO, AI artists aren’t artists. They just describe something didn’t even draw it.

This video served as inspiration for me to get better at art
Thank you so much
I’m glad this video blew up, it’s important. Also as an artist myself it just feels nice to see someone so openly gush about human artists at a time when being an artist is incredibly difficult.
Humans, for generations, have made art. If generative image companies want to replace artist, they just aren't human.
thanks for va-11 hall-a ost at the background :3
But thats just my 2 cents from what ive seen being talked about in more professional circles in the tv, game, and film industry, i can see the coin being flipped for professional comic artists and illustators tho, but i honestly dont interact with too many on a day to day basis so i couldnt tell you too much outisde a couple of stray comments from some friends who interact more with that side of the artistic world.
yo, Reiq mentioned! One of my favorite artist growing up!
No matter what happens those tools will always be available to you and nobody will even challenge that. I assume its not your job so chin up and focus on other things

i don't think people doing art will stop existing, just the vocation in popular media will make most artists obsolete.
as for stopping it i don't think it's possible, there's more people who want it than those who are against it and it keeps improving too which is more scary because there will come a point where you can't even compete with it, not even close.
it kinda baffles me how people can like an art something about it dosent sit right with me there’s no charm to it. also i think another concern regarding ai art is it could disgorge beginner artists in a way, “why draw when you can just generate an image”

Man, in a few years human made art will be treated as fancy handmade furniture
1:54 Sounds like a plot of the arc Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files...
