15 things I QUIT to super simplify my life | minimalism & slow living lifestyle

  • More is NOT better. Often it's the peeling away, decluttering our life that allows us to simplify our life and pursue more intentional living. Peeling away these "normal" things revealed more joy, contentment, and peace. It also helped me to feel less overwhelmed as a mom.

      Yes, the complaining part. In my country we have a culture of doing that on a daily basis. I really needed to be intentional to not complain and start being more grateful.

    Not sure how old you are but what you are sharing is very wise. I was married at 19 and had my first baby at 20 and had a total of 4 by the time I was 28. We lived a very simple life with no TV, internet or smart phones from the very beginning of our marriage, very simple sweet times😊. When My husband and I turned 30 is when we got internet for the first time and we just got out first smart phones at 32 about 8 months ago. The reasoning why is my husband started his own construction business and he works from out of our home. I will say since bringing these technologies into our home it has only brought busyness and an uneasy feeling. I miss the simpler times, granted my children are getting older as well which brings more busyness then when they were littler. Finding balance in life is a struggle at times but nothing is ever born without travailing so it takes making these mistakes in life to want better for ourselves and the next generation. Wonderful video! Thank you.

    I’ve also stopped keeping up with news. I’ve done this for probably 10 years and while I’m not the person you go to talk through the breaking news that happened last night, I am now the more calm and compassionate person that can be there for you when you need me. Ingesting the news was causing me so much anguish that one day I stopped and thought about how life was when I was growing up (pre social media) and then thought about about times hundreds of years ago. Most news doesn’t need an instant analysis. Now I’m also considering eliminating social media because the people who need all my “instant” news are already on my call list.

    Pretty much all these points resonated with me so much. I've been actively working on some of them but some are so deeply engrained and hard to break, or we dont even realize were doing them. In almost everything less is more and we are so conditioned that more is more and we keep pushing and doing and most of the time its only making it worse. Ive suffered from hormonal issues and terrible gut issues for years and only now getting more info about nervous system regulation and how even with great idea/lifestyle/supplements etc we are too stressed for it to help us.

The house that I grew up in valued being productive and getting done as much as you could so much, it became a major part of my identity. Often when I have a lot to do now, I don’t set a ten-minute timer. I put on some relaxing music or nothing and I take my time with it and enjoy the process! Thanks so much for this video! • @moresthetics
      @moresthetics 12 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      "Progress is better than perfection". I've read it somewhere, then wrote it down a few years ago. It moved the needle on perfectionism for me. Keeping it in mind allowed me to take action fast and realize that most of the time if 80% of the task is completed, it's ready and I can leave it at that.
      It has also somehow helped me tolerate disorganized environment better. I still prefer it to be organised and almost sterile but I've accepted that choas is an inevitable state and I don't want to spend my life obsessing over order instead of experiencing more of life. Yes, being neat, organised and finishing tasks still comes naturally and it shows. However, I feel way more at ease.
      Maybe this little story could help you or someone else find your own way out of the mental cage that is perfectionism.

    I just found your channel and your thoughts and ideas are great but sometimes you talk so fast that it's hard to understand what you are telling us. And we want to understand what you are saying!

      haha oh man im convicted about this because one of the things I've been working on from my obsessive hurry days is how fast I talk haha. It's a hard habit to break! I am working on it!

    I'm trying to understand. Have you continued to quit social media? If so why are you still making videos and putting them on social media?

      Most people don't consider TH-cam as social media, since it is a tool for learning as opposed to social media being a place to showcase fake lives.
