Thank you for saying that you don't need special clothing to exercise in. I do a lot of hiking and technical, breathable, waterproof, gears essential.. Good quality walking boots is also a must... Otherwise I agree with you.. Bless.
I would make an exception for shoes. hiking shoes, cycling shoes etc. doing these types of activities in the wrong shoes can really wreck your feet and sometimes even your knees. also, as someone above me mentioned, some fabrics can be more comfortable for these activities. I would rather hike in a dry fit top over cotton any day. some things do make a difference
I sort of agree - I have general exercise clothes that I use for all exercise, with the 2ish exceptions being running pants and running bras. Both of those need to be high impact and I have thunder thighs/bottom heavy, so regular exercise bottoms don't work there for me. As far as shoes, my running shoes are the only thing that doesn't have multiple purposes, like my trail runners serve for both trail running and hiking.
I keep my Christmas decor to a minimum - just in the living room and outside on the banister and around our front door. This way is doesn't disturb my house everywhere and I don't have to store the rest of my decor and dig it out after the holiday. I do not buy or put out other decor for the other holidays or seasons, except table centerpieces and napkin holders for Thanksgiving and Easter. It just makes life easier for me. We borrow puzzles at our library and stream audio books from the library too. No more storing or buying puzzles and books. I use the questions - do I NEED this or just WANT it? Is this USEFUL or just a dust collector/space invader? Thanks for your advice. Keep at it.
Forget about the latest phone, it's the phone boxes I need to throw out! And omg, as a crafter, I find it so hard to throw away those neat little sturdy boxes because "they will be useful for something in the future" I need help.
OMG I feel the same way. I tend to keep the bubble wrapper and boxes from Amazon because I used to resale some of my items on ebay and it is handy to have. But I had to stop doing this because the packages were slowly starting to build. So now, instead, I try to toss the bags. Which i realize is wasteful. but better than having them clutter up my house.
I A D O R E my beautiful physical planner, but I was in your situation until a few years ago. I’d stopped buying them because I never used them, and then my friend gave me one with a vertical layout instead of horizontal and it changed the game. It now helps me in my busy office job and it brings me incredible amounts of joy. I’m already looking forward to choosing my 2025 one.
I loved the suggestion for books I recently decluttered my books and found so many that were o honestly no longer things I would read, yet I'd never cracked the first page. Thank you so much for sharing this list.
you're welcome! Books can be such a tough one for so many people. And if you truly do read all of your books over again then there is no harm in keeping them. BUT, I think for most of us that just isn't the case at all lol Not for me anyway! :)
I love scented candles and I use them from autumn to spring. However,I stopped buying low quality ones and I made it my mission to find the candles that make my whole house smell good. I now have 5 big candles (250 grams and a 400 grams one) with 5 different scents that I love and rotate depending on the season. However,I make sure that they don’t burn for more than an hour and I always open the windows after putting them out. And then my house smells like clean air with a hint of whatever the scent I lit that day. What can I say, they bring me comfort 🙂
I agree with anything that requires you to constantly log info in them, like a planner or app. All this does for me is stress me out when I haven’t logged stuff for a while, or if I haven’t had the time to do it due to normal life happening! 😊 I’m trying to get rid of stressful situations not add them to my day❤ My list: Duplicates of products unless it’s absolutely necessary (duplicates are a real issue for me). Shoes in every color! Fancy exercise clothes. Extra pots and pans and serving pieces. ❤ I’m sure I could come up with more….
YES‼️…to a very simple bullet journal…key word being SIMPLE…because there are so many videos on how to dress them all up and make them pretty 🤷♀️ I just go with a plain one from Walmart…or even Dollar Tree…and use it like Ryder Carroll meant it to be to begin with 😊
I’m not a minimalist, I’ve had the same Christmas spheres for over 17 years, and a strand of lights I put out on my porch every holiday, I don’t put any other decoration during the year.
I usually wait until trends have ended up at the thrift store. Then I'm not so upset at myself if I don't end up liking it. It can just go back to the thrift store. So true about books I haven't read yet and am not currently reading (I start feeling guilty for not reading them!) and planners that apparently work for other people but not me.
I believe it is so important for everyone to keep those hand held weights or weight/resistant things around for exercise. Once you reach 30 years old, you then can start losing bone mass. You get in trouble when you aren’t fighting this with weight resistance. When I was in my late 40’s I was diagnosed with osteoporosis. I have had broken bones and am working regularly to build my bone mass.
Hoo yeah kitchen utensils. I used to have those sets with spatula - spoon and at least 4 other alternatives I never used. And then I thought about my trip in Japan and how my roommate just used a single pair of longer than average chopsticks specifically made for cooking. Apart from scooping / serving, it does the job for every kind of stirring in the pot / pan, plus you can flip food easily (provided you don't have 2 left arms). Even better, you can imagine how easily you can store and clean them since it's just 2 straight lines.
So agree on everything except for the workout clothes. It helps me get into the workout mindset. But mine are all old or from the thrift store 😊. And I’ve paired down to only what I absolutely need.
New subscriber. I’ve watched many declutter videos and your list resonates with me the most. 😅 These are all the things I have worked on or am still working on. Your video makes me feel less alone. Thanks!
Great food for thought. I have done some things differently in my minimalist journey. It’s taking me some time to decide on all the “things” I’ve brought into our home. Creating a minimal life has had far more ups than downs and I have added a few things along the way that I never put attention on. I am minimizing the way we grocery shop. I have taken out expired items less consistently and now recognize so many things about what I actually need & use in our small kitchen & fridge. Pizza cutter guilty 🥴🍕 LOL. I am approaching my mini pantry like I did household and personal cleaning supplies…”use them up”. So say I have some random quinoa, I then look up a quinoa recipe and use it before it goes bad. I am also not going to add but two higher quality sweaters this winter. I went from using an expensive planner for work to a very affordable amazon find. I even work very minimally. I am a manicurist and have honed in on specific brands of products and keep a very thought out selection of polish/gels. Even my storage space reflects how minimal my business runs. I have found very positive ways to minimize paper printing by using a digital service menu I can email or text to a client. Minimizing these things helps a small business stay open. I also have less to dust and clean as I can work very efficiently and make a simple and comfortable space for clients ❤
Thank you for good tips. One thing I am guilty of spending unnecessary money on is seasoning for recipies (sorry about the spelling) when I want to cook something. Often I only use them for that specific dish and never again.
Oh my goodness I have been guilty of the exact same thing! I try to remind myself that it's okay to pass it along or declutter it if I know I'm never going to use it again or simply didn't like it.
@@amandachaulkomgosh! I cant believe how many bottles of spices I have. It’s ridiculous and wasteful. And then they “expire” and you think you have to buy more 😮
thank you! Planners for me have always been such a pain point! They can be so beautiful and tempting to want to purchase, but more often than not they never fulfil the purpose I think they will!
Thank you for mentoning the mugs... I see it the same way and I also have way too much of them. Don't know why mugs are so hyped and your video is the first I see questioning that 😅
I like my cute workout clothing, but I buy it second hand or discounted. But I also exercise almost 7 days a week so I get a huge amount of wear out of them so it's worth it :)
Once upon a time, every time I went into a Barnes & Noble, I would buy multiple books. I now have a membership to Audible, so it doesn’t take any space besides on my iPad and I’m able to pick and choose from many different subjects, way cheeper than physical books. 😊
Yes!! I completely agree with you on all of these. Although I have a hard time letting go of my stationary since I already have it. My husband always wanted to try using a metal detector so he got one from his birthday and christmas money. Then after 2 uses he realized he doesn't like going to the beach which is where he would use it. Now he wants to sell it and buy a kayak since.... I can't seem to convince how wasteful that will be since he doesn't like going to the beach in the first place.
I agree that stationery is lovely and tend to have hoarded it myself in the past but it is classic hoarder speak to say ‘I already have it’ or ‘have already spent money on it’ so now won’t part with it especially if it’s said about almost everything a person owns. My mum is like this with her things, whereas I am less precious. I am a reforming hoarder because being surrounded by stuff is now starting to drive me insane
New subscriber here. Greetings from Indonesia. I'm a hoarder of books, journals, planners, bible studies, and also back then yoga or workout paid subscriptions .... I need to declutter.... 😢
Thanks for being here! 🥰 I didn't add subscriptions to the list, but that is definitely and area that so many of us can evaluate! It can easily get out of control.
I’ve seen a lot of hype around books, but women’s magic truths on borlest actually lives up to it. The techniques inside are nothing short of transformative, helping you attract whatever you desire. This isn’t your typical law of attraction fluff-it’s practical and real. Don’t miss out on what could be a life-changing read.
I just purchased a situp bench because I remember enjoying using it at my college gym. I've been using it every day because I wanted to do more situps but find them very uncomfortable on the floor. And I don't have any other workout equipment at home.
You can boil spices such as cinnamon sticks, cloves, etc. and orange or lemon peel, add some vanilla extract. You may let it dry and store it in wash clothes or smalls pouches to preserve the scent. Also, the steam while it’s boiling gives the house a nice scent. Also brewed coffee powder (what’s left in the filter) which is used in some hospitals to kills odor.
I think toiletries could be on the list as in we only really need 1 tube of toothpaste, 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 shower gel 1 deodorant and 4 toilet rolls….rather than stockpiling - am trying to get away from that and also as much as I love books I don’t need 400 and to keep, ones that have been read. Trying to only keep my very favourite useful reference books and a to be read pile…which is currently too large at about 100, I think 10 would be good. Always 2nd hand or borrowed from the library too
To support minimalism, linking budget with bigger life and being smart about money is one of the most important building blocks. All the money I do not spend for occasional stuff, brings me bigger, long term wins. Thats, why I still buy planners. And books which I know, no-one else around me is likely not interested in. They make me happier in the long run and help to strive towards life, where my decisions are not about and "stuff" only. Some of the planners do eventually not work for me, so it is ok to leave them unfinished. Better than hoarding apps (calendars, time management apps, process management apps) :)
I’ve slowly over time began detaching myself from most of these plus more. But my main problem is books. I spend a ton of money on brand new or used books and it’s very expensive. I’m spending too much for one thing, but I’m also not able to read them as fast as I’m buying them. I always say I’m gonna stop but then I see something else I want. I struggle with it really bad. I’ve slowly been reminding myself I don’t need to have it if I’m not even going to be reading it right now anyways, kind of like what you were saying earlier. I’d love to be a library girl but I love having my own books that are mine. I love reading but I love collecting them too
I also love buying new or second hand books, but now limit them and always donate one or two, when I buy a new one. I feel much better by doing that. I don't want a Kindle, just love a real book.
i haven't shopped at a regular clothing store for years, since i can find pretty much everything at thrift stores. i get underwear, bras and socks online to save time on roaming around stores; mostly bc i'm very shy and don't want staff asking me if i need help, but i also don't like to be stared at or questioned while looking at bras since i often get mistaken for a boy DESPITE having C cups...😂😅
I am an avid readers but honestly books are not cheap.. so one of the ways i found to get books cheap is look for book sales by certain online bookstores and also some booksellers. One such sale sells books by weight.. I have got good books at dirt cheap rates.. some books are offbeat and will not be found in regular bookstores.. Also i am part of a freecycle groups which has got me stuff for free
I’ve always had hair that did its own thing whatever I tried! I decided to choose a style and stick with it 😊 So at 64 I’ve decluttered the hairstyles, styling tools, excess products etc. I get my hair cut short every 8 weeks, wash it in the shower with the same shampoo, job’s a good’un! Fewer decisions = less stress

Key is: i cant stand the constant email bombardment to spend spend spend. I canceled the 3 most annoying....oneards and upwards .....
The money people waste is truly shameful. I'm guilty but I've cleaned up m act in more ways than one. I really only buy necessities now. I'm a lot happier not shopping. I realize how much shopping depressed me and how much stress it added to my life. It truly is a disease. Nobody needs much of anything really. There really is a big difference between wanting and needing. My advice to young people is SAVE YOUR MONEY. You're going to need it I promise you that. I'm speaking from experience obviously.
Tired of hearing the same old advice? The book women’s magic truths on borlest is different. It dives deep into secret techniques that can help you attract almost anything in your life. This isn’t just another take on the law of attraction-it’s the real, actionable truth. If you’re serious about making a change, this is the book you need to read.
Incredible content in this video! I rarely suggest things in comments, but the book women’s magic truths on borlest is a must-read if you're serious about wealth and self-care. It’s filled with unique knowledge that few people know about. Take care, everyone
I'm a little bit of a collector/avid user of different bags, but other than that, I 100% agree with you. We are so programmed to think we "need" all of these extra things, but it's simply not true! And personally, I've found such a freedom in decluttering and owning less. It was a weird feeling to realize this reality for me, but I highly recommend it to everyone. Baby steps, and see how it feels. You might surprise yourself! 🤍
Why would I give a fish mouth a nickel for taxes if I was financially secure? I'm glad I have good insurance, especially since I had heart surgery in February!
At the age of 52, I left my job and began receiving my full Social Security benefits. and after a couple of years went back to work full-time in a different industry. For me, it's enjoyable. Really! As so, I make money from three sources. I like life and go wherever I want to go.
Just take off the bandage and release them. I sell a coin right away if I'm unsure about it. Although it is annoying to lose money, the longer you keep it as a pet, the more opportunities you miss out on because you could have spent the cash on something more worthwhile.
In a decade, your retirement assets and financial flexibility will increase. Your ability to live within your means will be the reason for your success! It'll be easy-it's just you!
Time is the most precious resource that most people misuse. There are only five opportunities in a lifetime to begin a low-risk, thirty-year investment route that will lead to financial independence, starting at age 25. It is definitely achievable after that, but the harder it gets the longer you wait.
What would you add to a list of things you don't need? :)

also, as someone above me mentioned, some fabrics can be more comfortable for these activities.
Keep at it.
Thank you for sharing this! I love the borrowing
something I purchased that did help with clutter- my Kindle E reader. I love it!
Forget about the latest phone, it's the phone boxes I need to throw out! And omg, as a crafter, I find it so hard to throw away those neat little sturdy boxes because "they will be useful for something in the future" I need help.
Oh I so agree with you. Boxes of all sizes in my craft room and dare I say some are empty 😂
Your beagle is adorable playing with the yoga mat.
Many categories on your list resonated with me! Thank you, Amanda.
I'm glad it was helpful! :)
What brand of candle do you recommend? 😊
@@patschannel5145 The Woodwick ones, with the crackling wick.
I agree with anything that requires you to constantly log info in them, like a planner or app. All this does for me is stress me out when I haven’t logged stuff for a while, or if I haven’t had the time to do it due to normal life happening! 😊 I’m trying to get rid of stressful situations not add them to my day❤
My list: Duplicates of products unless it’s absolutely necessary (duplicates are a real issue for me). Shoes in every color! Fancy exercise clothes. Extra pots and pans and serving pieces. ❤ I’m sure I could come up with more….
YES‼️…to a very simple bullet journal…key word being SIMPLE…because there are so many videos on how to dress them all up and make them pretty 🤷♀️ I just go with a plain one from Walmart…or even Dollar Tree…and use it like Ryder Carroll meant it to be to begin with 😊
We dont need exercise equipment. We need to exercise in the first place 🥇
Exercise equipment does help me.
Yep😂 I just walk outside everyday❤For over 10 yrs🎉
@@kimwieczorek1879…. same😂 I was 48 kilos when I started this walking exercise and now I’m 43 kilos😊
All we need is body weight, calisthenics!
my spin bike at home is the best thing I ever bought in my entire life so far
I’m not a minimalist, I’ve had the same Christmas spheres for over 17 years, and a strand of lights I put out on my porch every holiday, I don’t put any other decoration during the year.
I usually wait until trends have ended up at the thrift store. Then I'm not so upset at myself if I don't end up liking it. It can just go back to the thrift store.
So true about books I haven't read yet and am not currently reading (I start feeling guilty for not reading them!) and planners that apparently work for other people but not me.
You got me at books and mugs 🙂
I would be lost without my planner!
My schedule is crazy busy. I keep myself on track with my planner 😊
I'm jealous that it works so well for you lol I have NEVER had success with one
So agree on everything except for the workout clothes. It helps me get into the workout mindset. But mine are all old or from the thrift store 😊. And I’ve paired down to only what I absolutely need.
New subscriber. I’ve watched many declutter videos and your list resonates with me the most. 😅 These are all the things I have worked on or am still working on. Your video makes me feel less alone. Thanks!
I'm so glad it resonated with you! :)
And then they “expire” and you think you have to buy more 😮
Good video! So true about planners!
thank you! Planners for me have always been such a pain point! They can be so beautiful and tempting to want to purchase, but more often than not they never fulfil the purpose I think they will!
Appreciate your perspective 😊
Looooooove planners but I never use them either lol
I use a plain 99 cent notebook for years.
@@sct4040They're not that cheap anymore though!
I need planners to map out my day and for motivation. I’m glad most people don’t.
That’s really useful I have a habit of impulse buying and I was about to purchase few of the items form this list, now I can stop
Thank you for mentoning the mugs... I see it the same way and I also have way too much of them. Don't know why mugs are so hyped and your video is the first I see questioning that 😅
My husband collects mugs from places we visit. They replace photos for h8m.
I have a planner but I also use it as a journal. 😊
Thank you for sharing!!
I like my cute workout clothing, but I buy it second hand or discounted. But I also exercise almost 7 days a week so I get a huge amount of wear out of them so it's worth it :)
It sounds like you already have the commitment to exercise part down! lol
I found this video to lean more toward frugal living with a few minimalist principles. Did I need it? Not really but still gave it a thumbs up.
I am a reforming hoarder because being surrounded by stuff is now starting to drive me insane
great video! I made a similar one and I realized it's totally crazy how much money we can save just by prioritizing ✨
Much needed topic. I think the sales trends have made things worse...
i really enjoyed listening to this video. thank you.
This video is all about me...😂 This is exactly the 20 thing I made a decision to work on 7 days ago.
Planners, books and loyalty cards can be used and stored digitally and it's been a while since I stopped using them physically.
To be fair when it comes to sport equipment - for some people it keeps them motivated, adds to the fun and keeps them going
oh for sure! If you are actually using it then that's beneficial :)
“You don’t need more storage you need less sh**” has stuck with me lol
Excellent list
Hi, enjoyed your list, thanks!
Loved this video ❤ thank you!
Brilliant thank you
I’ve seen a lot of hype around books, but women’s magic truths on borlest actually lives up to it. The techniques inside are nothing short of transformative, helping you attract whatever you desire. This isn’t your typical law of attraction fluff-it’s practical and real. Don’t miss out on what could be a life-changing read.
Loved the video 😍
I just purchased a situp bench because I remember enjoying using it at my college gym. I've been using it every day because I wanted to do more situps but find them very uncomfortable on the floor. And I don't have any other workout equipment at home.
No bedside tables I love it!
🥰
I read in bed so I need one to have my lamp on
I use a skipping rope instead of exercise equipment. I got rid of exercise equipment years ago.
I love having cute workout clothes though. I workout better when I feel cute 🥰
Will you share some safer alternatives to scented candles? These bring me comfort but I don’t want to hurt myself or my pets
Always 2nd hand or borrowed from the library too
Spot on❤
Great list! My mistake was exercise weights that I got.
Your mistake may have been, not to have made use of those weights. 😊
OMG, you just described me. Those are the things I let go of last year. 🙂
it is so true!
This helpful for me.
The mugs…..I feel attacked 😂
lol I love mugs too. But I’m trying hard to appreciate them in the store and not feel like I have to always buy them!
It always amazes me how so many 'minimalist' TH-camrs think that hair straighteners are 'essential' items, though.
I’ve always had hair that did its own thing whatever I tried!
I decided to choose a style and stick with it 😊
So at 64 I’ve decluttered the hairstyles, styling tools, excess products etc.
I get my hair cut short every 8 weeks, wash it in the shower with the same shampoo, job’s a good’un!
Fewer decisions = less stress
1. I do have moderate amount of containers but I really enjoy them
2. planners - my laptop works like this
3. no kids for me haha
4. the newest tech - no no, I'm too poor for that
5. trendy clothing - no way, comfy goes first
6. I don't own a purse at all haha, I mean there is one somewhere at my boyfriend's parent house but it's far away XD
7. I know
8. again
9. I don't read, just listen
10. no space for more than 8 mugs at my less then 400 sq ft flat
11. yup, I don''t exercise. I walk and clean all the time :D
12. yeah it doesn't even work like that in my country
13. I never understood that since finishing school (I still have pens and highlighters from school times)
14. I like discounted food
15. sure I do have a few but use them for daily activities
16. I'm afraid of fire!
17. If I buy a duplicate it goes to my out of use storage
18. yeah, only ones that I know I use
19. yeah I don't buy furniture at all, I rent fully furnished place
20. but I like food haha
Guess I'm a minimalist then! :)
Oh my gosh, the store rewards cards!! I just cancelled 3 of them. I buy ywo oairs of shoes from this store. Its been years since i was there. I get a $5 AFTER I purchased the shoes. The "reward" jas a 3 month expiration date. I am not going in to the store to spend $50 ⬆️ to save $5!!! Enough already.
Other stores do similar sales and i haven't been in there in months...
Good video new subscriber ❤❤
Thank you so much! 🥰

The one thing I regret getting into is collections (i.e. mugs, coins, etc....) what a waste of money and time for me.
Linens, you need two max for each bed in your home.
Your eyes are sooo cute ✨
Honestly, when I discovered the horror of dust mites, I took decluttering seriously.
I agree with everything. Guess Im part Mininalist.
for exercise i just walk for 10K everyday and i lose weight after 2 months from 48 kilos i went down to 43kilos😊
That's amazing! :)
Where do I get a bullet journal? Or make one of my own.
I linked the one I have in the description! But you can get them most places that sell journals (book store, craft store maybe..) Amazon has a ton :)
I just want a house with a bed in the living room I do not care anymore
Yes, its not the exercise equipment that will get us to exercise 😂. I can attest to that.
I feel like with planners they aren’t needed unless you are a student. Otherwise a phone is fine
Def don’t need shaving cream, right? Lol I just use soap

Time is the most precious resource that most people misuse. There are only five opportunities in a lifetime to begin a low-risk, thirty-year investment route that will lead to financial independence, starting at age 25. It is definitely achievable after that, but the harder it gets the longer you wait.
