I wish you were local Baz! 1) for my car and 2) I’d love to buy you a pint or two. Absolutely top drawer (as ever) and a ‘proper’ job for the customer. Keep getting’em sent
Electric water pumps on the vag range....mental idea... let's put a clutch on the water pump so it warms up quicker... then we'll kick the clutch in so it circulates how it should do ffs!!!😂😂
You mentioned the battery voltage being good at 12.9v but it was reading 12.09v. From my limited experience, anything under 12.3-12.5v is getting on for a dying battery.
@@jimb7406 thanks for The answer. But don't you run the risk that the lower oil pressure delivers a to thin of oil film in the engine say for instance the solonoid not working 100%? On my car { opel astra diesel} that specific solonoid creates the problem the timing chain tensioner get to low pressure to work properly en gives slack on the chain wich results in chain clattering while driving on those low engine loads.
12.09V DC is NOT good battery! It is 50% empty battery, basically useless for anything. Especially stupid is to think it is good battery if you ever planning something to program
Probably waste of time going through electrical stuff..it's the 1.3 abortion with bicycle chain in.....usualy full of magic glitter from the chain chopping through guide...seen at least 3 that will only turn over with jymp leads or booster pack on. .. ...a bit late for a chain job....l
This was a very professional and accurate video on how to diagnose the fault which was presented. Unsure what your point is. The 1.3 FPT / GM engine is a superb little diesel engine. Granted, it’s fitted with a bicycle chain for a timing chain but so are most of not all of these modern engines running a chains. If you change the oil every 5000 miles you shouldn’t get any issues. Mine has done 90000 and still runs like new.
@@paulas2610 Have one here with 220k on it, runs great - a customer has one in his van with 630k (km) - runs strong. Most modern stuff has bicycle chain timing. In fact a bicycle would have a stronger, thicker chain.
You are sn excellent tech, v3ry thorough and professional ❤

That launch scan tool looks awesome 👍
Agree, its very impressive, it may well be the best scan tool out there right now.
Electric oil pumps now? This world is fucked

nice work baz!!!! love that launch diagnostic tool-and it so easy to use :)
good job Baz
Great content as usual thanx
We want to see dexter mate 😊

Cant find that smartsafe d01 in launch uks website. Fancied a look at it. Does that come with haynes as well? Do yoh have a link for it bro?
No it don't buddy, drop me an email for the d01
How much is that launch?
Great standard of video, diagnostic process and explanation 👍. Was it pattern part or dealer?
Dealer part buddy
Nice diag baz. But why is there a variable solonoid for the oil. Why not a fixed oil pressure all the time?
To help with engine efficiency - reduces oil pressure at low engine loads. Lower oil pressure = less drag on the engine.
