- My first time out on the river with the kayak and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be! Thanks for watching! ALMOST AT 400 SUBS GUYS!!

Lol that paddle breaking was hilarious. I know it sucked for u but made me laugh! Me and my buddies fish the desplaines river in lake and cook county mostly for pike. Its great fun in a yak

Biggest for me has been 35" but my buddies who have fished it longer have gotten 40s . No musky (yet) but there are days well catch 40 pike. My buddy will toss the spinners with paddle tails and buzz baits and i follow up with chatter baits with craw/critter trailers and manns minus cranks. Whats encouraging is that alot of the big ones have giant bite marks on them, ecspecially from this one stretch which means there are 40+ in there or some musky. Since these bite marks are on 30+ northern! We get good bass too but those are holes below the sewer drains and spillways. Im sure its the same deal farther south. Chi-townschwagz on fishbrain most of those pike are off the DP they have the locations that are pretty close to actual spots!

Where did you launch? I'm looking to hit up the DesPLaines (I mostly fish the Fox in my kayak), so I don't know where to put in to stay out of dangerous water/major current. Thank you!!!
Send me an email ***** and ill send you the spot. I went out on a day that wasn't windy and we didn't have a lot of rain the previous days, so it wasn't bad. We actually fished the fox yesterday and I think we're heading back Saturday morning to try again! Any good spots over there?

Yeah I can get up to speed pretty easy on this kayak! This is the only one I've been on though, so I can't really compare it to anything else.

I've never put in up there, but I've heard the pike bite is pretty good up north!
Yes there are plenty. Independence grove is a good spot for both if you dont have a kayak otherwise you need a kayak for the northern part of river!
Its brutal from the shore (lots of deadfalls and bolders). But if you're floating around like my man here or have some waiters? You'll run into Pike & Largemouth all day.
