This is awesome. I've been trying to explain to my wife the sense of peace I get from being under the water, she thinks I'm crazy. The scene where you are meditating under the water resonates deeply with me. That disconnect. I have just enrolled in a free diving course with Apnea Australia, I'm not looking for world records, just to extend the peace I feel in ocean. Oh, I turn 50 this month and can't wait.

Truly stunning, thats the power of intention, having the fear of not making it before the dive is a learning point for me. I would imagine most die from fear at the bottom of the dive.
I lost my smell and taste while being infected by Covid for 6 weeks... its back but I feel as though it isn't back fully. I couldn't imagine losing either of those forever.....
AWESOME!!! I first saw the video of William Trubridge dive the Blue Hole in Dahab a few years ago and I was blown away by his technique. Keep it up William. Best of Luck!!!
I like diving very much. Yesterday i started to hold breath as long as possible. In a very first try i reached 2:30min, so i am very excited NY learning more from this sport
Truly amazing as much as inspiring. It's always refreshing to see stories like this. It seems like as good as it feels to take a breath at the surface after a dive, you are almost disappointed that you had to surface and abandon your paradise. Trying to weigh the option of staying longer to embrace your haven, and going up to survive......I can see why that would be tough. Good luck man!

This is great! I practise chikung daily, trying to bring in more "chi" into my system, the head, the lungs, legs and arms. By breathing long and slow, I am able to do the 24-form taichi in 16-17 minutes. My whole system benefits! I can swim 71 meters underwater in my pool without breathing. Divers carry weight and they sink faster without too much oxygen consumption. But this takes lots of determination. I respect this man and his talent!

I've never had the chance to go very deep; only 11 meters, so far. I discovered in high school that I enjoyed just lying on the bottom of the deep end of the pool (4 m). I prefer swimming underwater to swimming above water. Everything is so peaceful, so beautiful. I've swum in Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, NM, a few times. The water is cold! I've heard that divers at night on the bottom (~20 m) can see see stars thru the clear water. I'd like to learn to reach the bottom, tho in daylight.
I really want to learn how to free dive. I'm not sure if I would have problems though since I was a premature baby. I was 3 months premature and doctors, and experts, say that the lungs do not fully develop when individuals are born early. I have had no problems throughout my whole life, I'm 26 now. I just have always had a fear of the water and I think this would really help me out. I'm a Psychology student and I am always finding ways to help others, including myself, face fears.
