I haven’t seen you before and I was really blown away. Deep thoughts, and a wonderful presence. I say minimalism isn’t for me. This has got me looking at it from a completely different POV. Thank you!
I think this may have just changed my life! I actually thought about my values and cried... It's like for my whole life I've never really known who I am. It didn't take me long to get it but I know now and I know what I need to do. I've been chasing the rich mummy's and that's just not me. I know why now and I know my values- not one of them has status symbols attached. Thank you both of you. You are wonderful humans.
I love how he talks about minimalist as being more personalized to your values. I’ve always thought of it as being very rigid and specific but I see now that it doesn’t have to be. Thanks for a great interview!
Best interview I think I’ve heard. Absolutely love his values advice and outlook. People say my house looks cluttered because my living room n dining room have my grandkids toys in them. Well I taught Pre-K for 30+ years and I have my house set up for them. Games and art in the dining room n toys n puzzles in the living room. My grandkids are my priority
What an amazing interview! Being intentional is a muscle that needs to be flexed often and I love the way Ronald doesn’t prescribe his way of being minimalist to everyone and instead focuses on how our values can inform our personal template. You are both so wonderful.
Love how Clarity is stressed. I could not find the word but as I declutter and get more intentional on purchasing with purpose Clarity is the perfect word.
Really enjoying this interview. I’e watched a few of his videos. He’s so peaceful. And I love how he defines value. Loved this. And I’ve been loving the variety and the diversity in your interviews. ❤❤❤
Refreshing take on minimalism - I was like, "YES!" when Ronald acknowledged that one pot and one spatula isn't going to work for a personal who values big family meals. That is the decluttering/minimalism content that drives me nuts, the idea that it's ridiculous or wasteful to have multiples of things if, in fact, you do use more than one at a time and it means you don't have to keep stopping what you're doing to wash something, etc.
Cas, I am the same as you when I get in a store. I have learned to (before I even touch the item I'm thinking I desperately NEED) ask myself "Do you seriously NEED it? Will you regret buying it when you have less room in that cabinet??" It works for me!!😂
This podcast was probably the most paradigm shifting. Even knowing about identity clutter didn’t make me pause and consider my whole life like looking at clutter as part of my core value. I literally sat down and wrote out my core values and there was just so much clarity and aha moment. Thanks Ronald and Cass! This was truly an awesome podcast!
Thanks for this podcast. Ronald reminded me of things I'd learned in business seminars I'd attended when I was much younger. Applying my values as I declutter makes sense. I value family and family gatherings are an expression of that. But I downsized my home which makes family gatherings in my home a challenging. That has been a huge struggle for me in my decluttering, and it's made me sad. I'm 70 and my kids totally understand, but now I see that downsizing eliminated one of the ways I expressed my core value. I've been decluttering with a limp. I can see I need to make space for that value to thrive again. Thank you!
Thank you Ronald. I try to always live my values. Your framing around lifestyle and values really resonates for me. It has definitely supported and guided my minimalist journey.
I found the idea of your journey being like your own individual fingerprint, unique to you, very helpful. It’s so easy to look at a minimalist on TH-cam and think, “I could never be like that.” But this helps me see that being like someone else shouldn’t be the goal. My goal should be to find a level of mindfulness and intention that put my belongings and activities and time to work for me, whether that looks minimalistic or not.
Yes, "slowing the chaos in my brain"..."clarity"... "What are my core values"...I can come up with some quickly that I truly do respect often...or, even daily....but, how HOW MUCH RESPECT do I really give these the time they deserve? I'm listening to this podcast for the third time...and, I REALLY, REALLY want to get these concepts...I just finished 6 weeks of decluttering an organized garage with some mess... And, after 32 containers of donations....and, 15 bags of trash....I'm asking myself..."why???" Years before, I would go in with the intention of being "more mindful"..."more intentional".... But, still asking myself "how do I get there....how do I stay there?" I woke up this morning in an emotional state of mind...knowing that I'm in the middle of the kitchen....that messy middle once again of decluttering.....knowing that I'm mindfully pushing responsibilities back so that I can go thru for the "umpteenth time" to purge my home...because.... I ...need...desperately need to find that clarity. Thank you for the interview with this gentleman...it's like the next piece of the puzzle that makes so much sense. Thank you.❤
He really struck a chord with me as well. I felt this was really a missing piece for me, now comes the work of reminding myself daily of my core values!
Cas, thank you for hosting others to speak about decluttering! I love that you are open to hear other points of view and are gracious enough to share them with us. I love your "abundance thinking," that it is adding to your business and not taking away from it by knowing there is value in learning different ideas about this subject. And you are soooo great while interviewing these people!! You set the tone for it to be a lovely conversation about clutter where you both share thoughts and ideas. Really great job, Cas!! (Going to look up RonaldLBanks right now and set my values & intentions!)
1. This interview reminds me a lot about the 7 habits and planning your time based on your roles and values - principle centered. 2. My young adulthood had a fad motto: live simply so you can simply live. Or something close to that. Maybe you can do a pod on whether these are the same or different.
Cass, I listened to this on Google podcasts. Best interview ever. I've followed Ronald for awhile too. I love his perspective on life, delivery, tone. You really brought it all out in this interview. I'm going to listen/watch it again!
Thank you for this podcast- I discovered Ronald maybe 2 weeks ago and watched a few of his episodes- his calm vibe comes through and helps me stay focused- I’ve learned a lot these last few months about‘checking in ‘ with myself and what matters - sort of what he called core values- I’ve come to an abrupt halt on my declutter journey- suddenly I’m frozen and come home to a mess - again - cause I shopped without letting go of stuff again - then there’s always the excuse it’s too hot ( actually 92 degrees in CT right now😅) I’m sore and achy - but I finally found my calm again when watching this show- I’ve done it before- I can do it again - and now I know more of what really matters and what can go - even in my plant collection- I no longer fight and waste time on 2 leaves in a pot trying to survive ( plant 🪴 folks will understand 😊) I’m lowering my inventory and it feels good - I’m unsubscribing to all tempting shopping emails - I c/x my subscription to Amazon prime- i am really driven to get the calm and serene feeling back that I had when I first moved in to my apartment- before I closed out my outside storage unit and got all my ‘in my mind precious’ stuff back - I’m actually at a point where I can say I had the pleasure of having the collection of owls - but other than a few ( haven’t chosen a number 🤔) I can let go - I did this with my angel collection a few years ago - I don’t miss them and I still have one that’s precious- maybe this helps someone out there - it’s not a race - it’s your life and on your time - for me also works the method where I pretend I have to move again - quickly- and have to let go of items due to smaller space - it’s amazing how I got rid of good half of my kitchen stuff ( some by accident went in the wrong box 🤷♀️) I survived ❤really greatly appreciate your interviews - thank you - as my mother always says: there’s a light at the end of each tunnel 🌞
Ok Cas, I'm going to challenge you a bit and ask you a question. This regards the core values for your life and the cinnamon candle. Ponder this train of thought... Do I love the smell of cinnamon candles? Yes. ✔️ Do I love my home to smell inviting and comforting? Yes. ✔️ Does the candle then align with my values...ummm? Yes! 👎 Maybe not, but hear me out. You also have the core value of your health. You value taking care of yourself and your body. So does the cinnamon candle align with that core value? Not so much. Here's why, the smell of the cinnamon candle makes you think of delicious cinnamon bread, which makes you crave delicious cinnamon bread, which may not then align with your core value of taking care of your body. So I also think it's important to ask yourself, which do I value/prioritize more... my house smelling warm and welcoming or my health? AND THEN asking yourself, is there another great candle that can also accomplish both values? Like a fresh air scent that will make your house smell clean and put together but also elicit a sense or motivation to go outdoors. Or a cozy pine smell that will make you crave a walk through a forested trail. Wow guys, I've found my calling... I'm here all week, call me to book your life coaching. 😂
*Really enjoyed this, thank you!* Regarding dedicated crafting space, if time with family is a value, sometimes portable craft storage or even a rolling table you can easily bring to where the action is a great solution. I love those plastic drawer units Cas hates ; - D because I can just take the one or two drawers with the supplies for a project to wherever I'm working on it (even to a friend's house), then slide them back in when I'm done. : - )
Cas, your interviews are so excellent! I will be checking out Ronald's channel. Thanks for introducing him to us.🎉 I share your struggle with the lure of the box store--but as I watch your content I try to figure out why "faux pumpkins" are a "fall essential" from the Hobby Lobby ad TH-cam pairs with "clutter/declutter" in my subscription titles. 😂 Anyhow, when the seasonal candles grab my eye/nose/fantasy self at Target, l am learning to recall my questions about just how essential they are, make a note to check inventory at home (I do enjoy them) and buy only what I need to restock based on their container.
Thank you Cas. This was such an inspiring podcast. I realise I've never really thought about my true core values and I have just been worrying more about what people think of me. I took some notes and am going to take some time to write my core values down. Thank you both so much 🙏❤️
Your hair looks so beautiful! Also, your question about the impulsive brain vs the intentional brain was spot on! Thank you for having that conversation. Like everything with ADHD, the things we need in our life (simplicity, structure, less stuff to manage) take extra effort for us to achieve. "Just say no" doesn't always work for me! But when I really, really try, I think I can develop habits. But it will always be a struggle. My brain works differently than Ronald's. But he is great and thanks for having him on your podcast! Thanks for all you do!
Cass, you asked for ideas about how to slow down your brain. I recommend trying to intentionally slow down your physical body and mental space. Try to break the busy crazy habit intentionally. Tell yourself no! Start by telling yourself no 5x day. And then push through when you feel uncomfortable with the No and the slowing down. Your body and mind are used to the rushing around. And it will scream when you try. But if you push thru that, you will succeed. I believe in you! I love your podcasts and watch every one!!!
Ronald is national mf treasure. He has a Core Values worksheet if anyone needs help narrowing down theirs. It was invaluable for me & instantly made my squirrel brain settle down just a bit lol
I am loving this conversation!!!!! Core values! What do I value? As a filter -WOW! I have a lot to reflect on. Re: your question about you and your cart Cass, When you do find yourself with that cart - You have chosen all the things in the store that have caught your attention and interest, so you have already streamlined the store. From there you can shop your little personalized store = your cart. For me in that situation I feel like I have filled it with possibilities that are attractive to me. I then shop my cart and choose what I really need and want. It is usually only a couple of things in the cart. Limited funds has helped me to do this. I wonder if it can work for other things? For me I may shop my yarn stash, for you it may be your throw pillows the rest we will send back to the store (thrift store)
I follow and love both of you! It was so nice to hear @ronaldlbanks in more detail than he has shared on his own channel and the Minimalist documentary. Thanks so much!
12:02 or maybe you tell yourself that you love your house smelling like cinnamon, but you would prefer it come from baking cookies instead of a candle. Not saying one is better than the other. But that's just an aha that I just had. Cuz I have candles that I've never used. I light them once in a while. And I like the smell. But I just realized that it feels artificial to me. So if I want to smell cinnamon I need to bake snickerdoodles. Of course, there's a downside to that hahaha. But I absolutely love love love this conversation.
This was such a great conversation! Thank you @RonaldLBanks I can so relate to being introspective but also having a chaotic life growing up. 😅 Great questions, Cas!
I really enjoyed this podcast. I've been a fan if both Cas & RKB for a while. Just an FYI for those who like Cas & I, have ADD/ADHD: the idea that each room/space should have a purpose prior to decluttering is discussed as part of Dana K. White's 5-Step, no mess decluttering process. I highly recommend checking out her channel as well. I have learned so much from Cas, RKB and Dana.
I love this! 2 of my faves, fantastic conversation and an excellent call to action. I can't wait to see more from Cas regarding core values. This is going to help me unlock my identity clutter.
Oh, my gosh, this was awesome!. It was very, very good hitting all the buttons that I needed to have hit made me more aware of what's going on with my mind and my "Stuff"!!!
I love you, Cas. I love your Clutterbug program. It’s inspiring. Your cleaning and decluttering ideas makes the most sense of anything I’ve watched or read. I’ve shared your ideas with my daughters and friends. I do have 1 observation. All of the declutter and cleaning video people talk a lot and talk really fast to get all the info into a brief video slot. Have any of you considered , that your presentations are cluttered a bit with way too much talking? Can’t you slow it down and show more photos ? Give us more time to view instead of listen. There are multiple types of learning styles as there are Clutterbugs. Please give us visual learners more visuals and less audio. Thank you, Win
Thanks for this podcast, Cass! Wow I don't know @RonaldLBanks but will be looking him up after this. I do consider myself a "relative minimalist" (meaning not spartan but not with too much stuff either), but your discussion about values and how to align your home to serve them gives me a lot of food for thought 😃
Hey team Cas!! TY all for everything you all do for The Clutterbug Channel. I know Cas can’t answer all comments so I wanted to ask her team if you don’t mind, the other day on her podcast, she mentioned that her parents are both atheist and I believe her stepdad I’m not sure but she mentioned that but I wasn’t sure if she said she was an atheist also? Can you pl answer? TY All!! I appreciate you All
Rubbish is rubbish, weather its stuff crappie relationships, addition all the stuff we can get rid of that will make life better, each life we are all different but with less noise we all hear better ❤
I value time with my grandson but I stress before he visits because the house is a mess. I actually cancelled once because of the mess. He's a toddler and I cancelled. That is no way to live.
Somethings that help me with impulsiveness in stores: giving myself a set budget and only bringing that amount in cash, asking myself how many times will I make use of the thing, setting conditions for being able to buy the thing in the future (ie if I want a bread pan I have to bake bread x # times in the next_, with whatever I have at home before buying the upgrade), and having a small list of what I'm going in to the store for, repeating that lost in my mind as I go through the store, and not browsing any other section. Sometimes I throw it all out the window 😂 but those practices help.
Many emotionally shop and I am no exception. Money and being frugal has helped me purchase pens, pencils, and notebooks and prefer bargains. Yes, they are everywhere. Too much clutter. clutter
Thanks for having me Cas! I had a blast and it was an awesome conversation.
Thanks to you! Your wisdom really blew me away!
You have helped many of us, Thank you!
I love and follow both of your channels, and it has been great to see and hear you together. Thank you for all your efforts! Stay true to you! ❤😉🤗
I haven’t seen you before and I was really blown away. Deep thoughts, and a wonderful presence. I say minimalism isn’t for me. This has got me looking at it from a completely different POV. Thank you!
Superb! I’ve been a follower of you both but this dialogue hit differently. Well done 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽
That was awesome! Does everyone else think Cass has such a soothing, warm way of presenting? ❤
YOU BET! I really enjoy her voice on the podcast more than anything!
And Cass is funny, relatable and honest with her stories and examples ❤….a big fan
Love our Cass!! 💖💖💖
Yes, I listen to her to fall asleep to drown out the ringing in my ears
Yes! She is so calming, and this guest is great!

Cas, I am the same as you when I get in a store. I have learned to (before I even touch the item I'm thinking I desperately NEED) ask myself "Do you seriously NEED it? Will you regret buying it when you have less room in that cabinet??"

Can you still have gatherings in someone else's home or at a park?
Love Ronald so much, and Cass you're such a great interviewer!!!!! Thanks for this content!!
Key phrase for me: "when everything is important, nothing is important." That's how I feel I operate. Multi task, again and again. Thank you.
And, after 32 containers of donations....and, 15 bags of trash....I'm asking myself..."why???"
Years before, I would go in with the intention of being "more mindful"..."more intentional"....

Thank you.❤
He really struck a chord with me as well. I felt this was really a missing piece for me, now comes the work of reminding myself daily of my core values!
Thanks to you both. Your voices are very calming and this helps SOO much in a cluttered life. And you ARE helping people. Keep up what you're doing.
This is gold and so worth listening
Cas, thank you for hosting others to speak about decluttering! I love that you are open to hear other points of view and are gracious enough to share them with us. Great conversation!!
1. This interview reminds me a lot about the 7 habits and planning your time based on your roles and values - principle centered.
2. My young adulthood had a fad motto: live simply so you can simply live. Or something close to that. Maybe you can do a pod on whether these are the same or different.
Loved hearing Ronald's perspective on minimalism and core values!!

Journaling helped me a lot as well. I love poetry, too.
Thank you so much! Now I need to relisten with paper and pen 😊
Identity Clutter! Yes!! An ah-ha moment for me. Love @! He is one of the best.
Ok Cas, I'm going to challenge you a bit and ask you a question. This regards the core values for your life and the cinnamon candle. Ponder this train of thought...

Lol, you are probably right'
@ClutterbugPod buy the candle and eat the bread once in a while. It makes my head hurt when people psychoanalyze every breath. Oh my!
So helpful! Thank you for interviewing Ronald L Banks. His message is important. So good!

Miss Clutterbug, you look amazing in this video. The black t-shirt looks good on you. Love this interview
Fantastic interview! Going to follow Ronald now 👍 😀 y’all are both awesome! God bless.
This is such a wonderful conversation ❤️ 👏 💕 thank you both!
This was such a great conversation! Thank you @RonaldLBanks I can so relate to being introspective but also having a chaotic life growing up. 😅 Great questions, Cas!
Awesome!! Very interesting...now I will be finding my core values and what matters to me the most! Great podcast!
Have watched Mr Banks and he has helped in so many ways, I admire him. Thanks for interviewing him!
Hi Cas, I really, really, really love your hair like this. Very soft and flattering. You always look good but more so today!
This is excellent! Values matter.
I have followed Ronald for quite a while and I have so much respect for him and his wife. This was such an amazing video with Cas. Thank you both!❤️
Wow, this is so good! 🔥 Motivation at its finest! ❤ Thanks for conveying this message so clearly!
Aw, this was just brilliant!!! With two of the best❤❤
What a friendly guest you had ! ❤
This was such a great help to me, thank you! It also sounded like Ronald was a great coach for you too Cas! Be well, Sally 🌹
Both of your voices togerther are bliss 😊 😊 great coversation and love the values part.
Thank you,
Win
Ronald is so wise and one of my favorite TH-camrs ❤️
Thanks for this podcast, Cass! Wow I don't know @RonaldLBanks but will be looking him up after this. I do consider myself a "relative minimalist" (meaning not spartan but not with too much stuff either), but your discussion about values and how to align your home to serve them gives me a lot of food for thought 😃
Same here, now that's I have watched Ronald, I will be following him.
I felt so called out when you started talking about the overthinkers haha
Some really enlightening thoughts!
You are a dearly loved child of God. So true!
Thank you, this is so good!❤
Excellent discussion. BTW, you look great today, Cas.
I love your podcast … always helpful and entertaining… i have to be entertained so i keep interested.
Doing this! What are my core values. Not sure actually when you say it like this. Going to do this with my husband as well.
Dr Demartini has a values quiz on his website. He's the grand daddy of human behaviours and teaches people how to live inside their values ❤
This was amazing 🎉
Looking gorgeous, Cass! Always love seeing you post a video 😁
TY All!! I appreciate you All
Great interview! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Cass, have you thought about collecting pillow covers instead that way you have less to store?
You look very glamorous Cass. Beautiful. I love the podcast you put out. Thank you 😊
Fauth, family, home, animals
Rubbish is rubbish, weather its stuff crappie relationships, addition all the stuff we can get rid of that will make life better, each life we are all different but with less noise we all hear better ❤
Love This !😁
I value time with my grandson but I stress before he visits because the house is a mess.
Well he's gorgeous!
😊 I thought so too. Handsome, smart and kind. He is truly the whole package!
@@ClutterbugPod yes Cas! It was a great podcast and really got me thinking. All your podcaats are great though!
Lol us squirrel brains need minimalism more than anyone else.
Cas, will you share your core values with us when you figure them out? I'm curious what you come up with 😊
My chaotic brain has been trained to ask if I need it. Do I have one? Does it work?
Maybe minimalism is easier for naturally calm and collected people... I don't know.🤷♀️ But, maybe people who aren't have the most to gain from it? 🤔
I find
Why is minimalism getting associated with black ( sometimes white) clothes 😂
Many emotionally shop and I am no exception. Money and being frugal has helped me purchase pens, pencils, and notebooks and prefer bargains. Yes, they are everywhere. Too much clutter. clutter
