In Romania there is this sorta Cinderella like story too, and its far more dark than the Vietnamese one. Our "Cinderalla" has a step mother and a bitch step sister too. But her step mom throws the main character out when her dad is away for work because they were poor and wanted to save what ever money/land they had to marry off her own daughter. And tells her not to come back until she has money. Long story short, she meets all bunch of magic creatures that need help, she saves them all, and one of them guides them to the house of a literal saint to work as a maid for a while. When she is done she is tolled to chose a box she likes from the saint's house and what ever is inside would be her reward. She chose this tinny wooden box, because she is very humble and when she returns home and opens it, gold, food and farm animals start to poor out of it like crazy. The step mom seeing this throws her own daughter away this time and tells her to go and come back with twice as much. She encounters the same creatures, but since she is a spoiled brat she refuses to help any of them and even laughs at their suffering. When she finds the house of the saint she barely puts any effort into her job and runs back home with this giant treasure chest she could barely drag. And when she opens it, hell demons start to emerge out of it, eating the bitchy daughter alive and dragging the step mother inside the chest, erasing both of them from the memory of everyone but the main character, who then destroys that chest.
Dont mind me doing my nails at 4am watching Emkay because school is giving me crushing anxiety and painting my nails is the one thing that gives me a sense of strength 💅 help
