WOW - I've had my Mavic Air for a few years now (its now 2023!) and I came across this tutorial and I've learnt so much that I didnt know about - and its not as if I havent previously watched dozens of reviews etc. This is the most comprehensive and well explained, without the BS and dodgy music, I've seen. Very impressive tutorial - it might be old now, but for infrequent users and certainly anything using the Dji app, this is the one to beat
Amazing video - no you don't talk too much, you've explained everything there is to know about the Mavic Air. I've had the Mavic Air for about two months now but not flown it yet - waiting for Spring. When I finally do fly I'll be a lot more confident thanks to your video. Thank you kindly for making and sharing all this information. Regards Dave.
Just purchased my Mavic Air and this is my first drone. Understanding the software & display options changes the richness of the experience. This was very helpful for a newbie.
I was looking for motivation to keep flying my Mavic Air again, this video just jazzed me up. I forgot or didn't know the full capabilities of this great drone.
Man, i really like your videos, you really know what you are talking about, 100 % and you make it in a fun way, thank you. I have a MAVIC AIR AND A MAVIC 2 ZOOM and i am learning a lot from your videos and getting the maximum from my drones.
What a great video. Given the expansive topic it could have sent most people to sleep, but you managed to compress it into 40 mins of invaluable information and advice. Thank you.
Boy I need to get one of these as the parrot AR 2.0 was fun but this is much better thanks for the videos. Stay safe and fly safely Good Day Mate Live Long and Prosper and may the force be with you.
Just got my new Air, this is the video I needed to watch, your great at explaining the Mavic Air functions, looking forward to learning more and flying my copter.
That was BRILLIANT video regarding the AIR tutorial, very comprehensive & informative for beginner like myself and others. Once again thanks for sharing mate~ Cheers :-)
Very good video. I've seen many complaints about people crashing but following the calibrations and making sure all systems are ok, should mitigate all the crashes. Except pilot error of course. Could you make a video of the "must do" as far as calibrations and things that will prevent unexpected behavior of the drone? Thank you
Thanks you, Really you have filled this Superb Video with LOADS of knowledge in simply digestible & Very quick manner ! I salute and Congratulate you... I have seen this video for more than 3 times and every time I learned something new... Heartfelt thanks...
What an awesome presentation indeed. So nice to see the amount of in-depth information that you share with us. Your engineering competencies and knowledge really add so much value to all your presentations. I have been watching many of your videos and the amount of knowledge I have gained from you is most commendable indeed. Well done James, keep it up as your videos really make an enormous positive contributions towards enhancing the drone industry all over the world. Kindest regards Dave from Port Elizabeth, South Africa
My dj I air doesn't work anymore and DJI isn't willing to do anything about it it says software problem they tell me to buy new phone or buy a new drone on disgusted with the company specially ass have only heard the drone a year and a 1/2
So not really a camera guy...got it haha. Thanks for the in-depth review. I just got my first quad...a MA and I am stoked. I learned alot from your presentation!
Which tablet do you recommend for flying the Mavic Air? Just did my first flight after watching your tutorial. Excellent content and presentation. Thank you!
super good video! this is very educational. I bought it myself, but now it's still a while before he comes in. I still have a question: what kind of energy source is there in the remote control? are these batteries or is there a loose battery? thanks again for the information!
Thank you for this. Very informative. I would argue with your comment at 25:30 about leaving it in auto though. It's a great camera! And you surely need to control the ISO to avoid weird adjustments while filming. Still, very good. Thank you.
Hello Gret explantion thanks. Can I use the drone without a simcard? what do I mis og if I don't? Will travel abroad soon, shall I buy a local simcard for each country kr what? thanks you in advance David
So my mavic air drone keeps panning to the right on it's own no matter what i do... is it a specific setting that i need to deal with? Like I'll fly up and i let it hover in place but it keeps turning to the right by itself
Do you have instructions on using a iPhone to control the Mavic Air? I ride dirt bikes and want it to follow me. Unfortunately I cannot carry the controller and have to use my phone. What are the limits?
Do you have any problem with marvic air battery swollen, mine only use about 20charge+ (3 of them each) and it already swollen :(. And it is usable for those battery??
Sadly I crashed my magic air only weeks after I got it for my 60th birthday and I’m very disappointed that I can’t get any help to where is the best place to get it repaired in the uk 😕 please can someone help me as I love this little drone.
In regards to battery temperature in cold environments: would heating the drone, remote, and batteries in a car, jacket, indoors, etc work as well as hovering for a minute? What about chemical hand warmers in the shoulder bag, backpack, or something similar?
The only batteries you really need to worry about are the copter's LiPo batteries, and yes, keeping them warm before the flight (ie. in cars, jacket pockets closest to your body, etc) definitely work. And yes, we know many people who have put the batteries in small, portable coolers with hand warmers. Thanks for watching and we hope you'll subscribe!
Great video! I finally know what IMU stands for. Just one question, in asteroid mode, my footage always goes from the ‘world’ down to me. How do you get it to go from me to the ‘world’? Is there another setting?
Thank ypu for tutorial.. how do I disable clips (music) when recording using quickshot (dronie, asteroid, boomerang, etc), I mean, I just want to record our voice when using quickshot.. thanks.
Hello I purchased a crystal sky to use with my mavic air but I cannot get it to work. I want to be able to use the sticks on the R.c. It works fine with my iPad and iPhone. Can you please help me out. This is a very good presentation and I know that you can get me going in a minute or less. Thanks
Chris, sorry, just trying to understand exactly what you're trying to do. But it sounds like you're talking about operating the Mavic via WiFi with the virtual joysticks on the display. I don't believe the Crystalsky was ever intended to be used in that manner. It needs a source, via USB on the bottom of the Mavic RC. Besides that, the glass on the Crystalsky isn't nearly as touch sensitive like the iOS devices are; could make it difficult to fly.
I’m a beginner waiting for my Mavic Air to be delivered, trying to study all I can before it gets here. Anyway..... I wish someone would give a detailed explanation of the led lights on the drone. Seems like they are blinking different colors at different times, but no one explains this...... I’ve watched approximately 15 beginners videos now.
I'm not a TH-cam pro, and I just bought my Mavic Air, and would like to know where I can find a tutorial on the controller. I'm pretty clear on all the buttons on the top, but I'm not sure about the bottoms on the front (the side with the antennas). There is a wheel, and three buttons there that I don't know how to use. Can you help me?
red dot = start/stop record, camera button = shutter (meaning, snap a picture), the black button is customizable, and the wheel controls tilt of the camera. We thank you for watching, and hope you enjoy the video. Also, the quick guide as well as user manual are fabulous resources as well.
Probably not as we do not have access to the BenQ directly. From what I have read in other review it is similar but does not address blacks quite as well.
You're absolutely correct. I only say that since 99% of USA fliers utilize mode 2. Kind of like NTSC vs PAL. Just what is preferred over here; meant no harm.
Yes , yes, 2 years after, one of the greatest , if not the only one, tutorial, many thanks, very nice

min 38:33 - how is it possible in asteroid mode to shoot in 4k ?
Many people complain that they do not work until 1080?
super good video! this is very educational. I bought it myself, but now it's still a while before he comes in. I still have a question: what kind of energy source is there in the remote control?

Great to hear! Internal lithium battery in the remote. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!
Thank you for this. Very informative. I would argue with your comment at 25:30 about leaving it in auto though. It's a great camera! And you surely need to control the ISO to avoid weird adjustments while filming.

Seems like the video feed is lagging. That is a serious problem I was dealing with and I exchanged the mavic air for another one.
What app is this?
Thank You for the great
Thanks
My drone only go 350 meters and start lagging. *need help*
Best drone august/September 2018
wow awesome thanks, who needs a manual
Will you do a BenQ HT2550 vs Optoma UHD60 ?
Probably not as we do not have access to the BenQ directly. From what I have read in other review it is similar but does not address blacks quite as well.
My dj iare doesn't work anymore and DJI am not doing a thing about it
Looks like the iPhone 6 is going to be way too small
Great tut, but "leave camera setting in auto" sounded really cringy. I'm assuming that was not advice for cinematographers or photographers.
ok reviews but could be better.....should be apps screen always shown on screen....
Oops Mavic Air
FAA ruining the fun. So they don’t want our drones flying high cause you always got people (sooks) who think of worst case scenario.
What you mean leave it in mode 2 that’s my choice mind your own business
You're absolutely correct. I only say that since 99% of USA fliers utilize mode 2. Kind of like NTSC vs PAL. Just what is preferred over here; meant no harm.
