So, a different type of video today with a jump point for the more experienced. Let me know if this works for you... And comment below on anything else you love or need to watch out for on the Air. Cheers, Ian
Just bought one after owning the dji spark for 1 yr. Wanted yaw stabilisation, better battery plus 4k capable while still being very portable and this fits the bill perfectly.
I’ve watched everybody on here and Ian selflessly gives great advice and tips as a beginner this man is the best keep up the good work I learned more off one video than 3 months trawling 👌👌👌🚁🚁
Great video, just picked up a used Mavic Air flymore package. The guy only used it for under an hour I checked his app status and 6 flights. No crashes no damage plastic still on the remote and stickers on the drone, tag on the carry bag. Can’t believe it, only 500 CAD which is what I was going to pay for a Mavic Mini without the flymore package before I decided to check varagesale. Batteries are all healthy and all is well! I’m still blown away I managed to get an essentially new Mavic Air for the price of a solo Mavic Mini before tax. Really helpful is the increased weight to compensate for the crazy winds we get here in the Canadian prairies. Been learning all the settings and reading the manual all day today, going for my Maiden flight tomorrow morning. Thanks for the clear and concise video, without loud EDM music ten minutes of vlogging before getting to the content with some green haired “hype beast” youtuber subbed! We get around 4KM in Canada with the Air, is it different over in Europe?
@@IaninLondon It was the original Air, I would've liked the Ocusync and the longer flight time with the Air 2 however for the price I paid I really can't complain! Been having a blast.
Just about to get my first Drone Mavic Air and Stumbled across this channel, I must say Im realy impressed with the deliverence and explanation your a natural teacher and found this a very informative video thank you....you now have a new sub ;-)
Ian is, as always, the best at explaining how these things work in a clear and sensible way. I've had a mavic air for nearly the same length of time. It rarely gets used mainly because of where I live and the weather. I still watched this all the way through as I can still learn something. My ONLY gripes with this machine are: The screen text is too small (satellites) you should be able to change text sizes in the app. Almost EVERY time I turn the Air on there is yet another update! DJI you need to stop! SUPERB work Ian. Thank You.
Thanks for the good words! Yep, updates happen a lot but you can still fly and ignore it, so you update later. And as for text size, yes, I'm thinking a set of reading glasses may not be too far away for me too.... cheers, Ian
What a gorgeous garden but thanks for just getting straight to it, No BS, no flashy intros and tacky music. Job done and i think i'll buy one of these things

Just came across one of your videos, now binge watching them all, being a londoner myself I love your style, interesting and get over what you want to say, I've watched far to many American videos taking 5 minutes for 20 seconds of advice....keep it up.....great stuff.
Cheers Ian, got some footage today using Tripod mode which I didn't even know existed until yesterday, also slowed the gimble movements.... was a garden so very tight as was low down, practicing yesterday I snapped a prop... using your tips I flew for 30 minutes today without one issue 👍👍

I used to have a P3A and a spark. Sold the phantom and intend to get the Air. The spark is fun, but has a few limitations, so the air is on the cards. Enjoyed the clips, so have subscribed. 👍

Thank you Ian!! As always, your MA video's are incredible. This one really adds even more great frosting on the cake flying my MA. I'm always learning new things from you and with this video I'm walking away with even more knowledge! I'm glad you did the re-cap as well as a mind refresher. Another gread video Ian, I've had an AIR since Christmas and have bought a Mavic 2 Zoom recently also however I still prefer the AIR for much of what i film, it's an awesome drone i would happily by another if i wrecked it, in fact i'd have to as it's my `go to` drone. I recently acquired a Spark (was found near stonehenge) i've flown it twice and oh my god is it bad compared to the AIR ! Does not like wind at all and drifts all over the place! If anyone reading this had a white spark fly away while filming stonehenge a month or so ago get in touch, i'll happily return it :) My advice to AIR owners it get on Ebay and get as many reconditioned batteries as you can, don't pay over £60 per battery. If you only have a few batteries you will be tempted to recharge them while they are still hot which will kill them. Also don't film below 30 frames per second in 4K, unless you are extremely smooth when panning the drone your footage will be juddery and useless. Stick with 4K/30FPS on auto white balance and you're good to go, and keep the sun behind the camera. Final tip! you don't need the latest computer to edit 4k, just get an SSD hard drive and a GTX 1060 or better graphics card and just edit using proxies. Learning to edit with proxies will make editing 4k a pleasure, even on old computers. Keep up the great work, Stuart.
I hope you are well Ian... let's go forward together!!! Thank you so much for sharing your video with us!!! What's new on our channel? Be welcome to Almeida Castle in Portugal on board of the Parrot Anafi...
SUPER SUPER GREAT!. Your efforts and time in this video is greatly appreciated Jeven. I'm late but always have been interested in flying drones. I have a couple that I've flown 2/3 times -nothing that qualifies me as good. Im thinking about getting the DJI Mavic Air Fly More Combo to get started seriously in learning to fly. Do the batteries eventually die to where they no longer can be charged? Thanks in advance. Rock rock on!!!
Thanks for that. With Air being heavier would assume better than Mini. I see it has lower flight time but only by a few minutes or so, so thinking of getting Air Combo kit. I will never fly in Sport mode as yet as so new, and always leave in GPS as would rely on GPS for help on returning to me. I hear obstacle avoidance is great on the Air and even better than the Pro?
@@waddac2 If you get the Air Combo you'll get the extra batteries. It's faster than the Mini and slices through wind with no problems. It does have more comprehensive anti collision system than the original Pro. It's a great bit of kit....👍🏻
@@IaninLondon Thanks for that Ian, so much appreciated. As say I am new and stupidly bought Three drones prior hoping they were great. Great video, really helpful. Was wondering, some of the footage was pretty grainy was that shot from the Mav AIR itself as other footage was crystal clear. Thanks
Great video as I am in beginners stage of the drone flying .If you look around the 3.08 to 3.10 second mark as you are over a field was the video fast forward at all? If not there is something that shoots over the field that will def out fly any drone I have seen .The object appears as a "white flying whatever it is" past the right of the green focus square. It is best spotted on a full screen view of this video
DJI loves to abandon previous buyers of products after they make the purchase. I was basically the Beta tester for DJI after purchasing the Inspire 1 x5 with sometimes months of down time due to bad patches making the camera useless. Shortly after purchasing the quadcopter they quit making new batteries and the few that were in stock didn’t age well. Now the $5500 machine is dead in the water until I find a new battery hack/ manufacturer as the old batteries have been used up years ago. I purchased a Mavic Air and now the same issue with batteries. Ugh….
Ian, just a suggestion for maybe, a future video. I'm intending going to America in the next few months for a holiday, but because of the perceived hassle I'm almost certainly NOT gonna bring my mavic air. I noticed that you have filmed there extensively. It would be great to know how you done it.
Avoid National Parks and use the B4UFly app. Most National Forests actually don't prohibit drones, only National Parks. And remember you can always take off just outside the park boundary and then fly in a little. Golden rule, stay away from people..... I would definitely take your Air if you're out in the countryside away from cities. Especially as it's so small. 👍🏻
Hi Ian. Thanks for all your amazing videos and great information. I've got a mavic air for around 2 years now and i absolutely love it! My only issue with it is the range. I can't get it to fly too far away without losing signal. Maybe 500m at most! Most of the times it might be even at 300m. This also happens on open fields and coastlines. Do you have any advice on what I could try to improve this? I tried to change the frequency as well but i didn't have any better results..
I was going to say possible interference but if it's always happening in different locations, then possibly it's something else; To be clear, are you defo positioning the antenae correctly (10 oclock and 2 oclock facing up so the long edge is facing the drone, NOT pointing them at the drone) and you are always facing direction of the drone?
Watched this again! Have a mini and was close to buying MP zoom but I went with the air instead due to not doing professional work and cost. Got the fly more for $994 us.. I think I’ll be happy!
Thanks very much for great video !! I know feel safe to fly off our beautiful canyons we have in South Africa !! I was always worried that when I went over the cliff it would see that the bottom was 800 meters away and make its way down to the bottom !! Thank you
When connecting the drone to PC and downloading the contents, I had never removed camera protector so far. Now I'll always do it, thank you for the explanation.
Any time you power on the gimbal will try and cycle thru its movement! And without the remote you weren't even being warned, so that's lucky it's not damaged it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Great video. I am looking for info on how to edit (cut or shorten video from my magic air) as I am a new owner. I use the DJI go 4 software and am looking for some guidance please
Hello Ian,do you still fly your mavic air ?I got one a week ago and I`m loving the experience. Can you give me some tips to fly better and take better images?
Hi Paulo; I do still have my original Air, although I tend to use my Mini 3 Pro more these days. Have a watch of this video; it has a lot of tips that apply to the Air: th-cam.com/video/iqCyjF5ZLA8/w-d-xo.html
@@IaninLondon thank you for the tip,it´s exactly with everybody´s help I´m growing step by step in this hobby, and unfortunatly all this week with strong wind and limiting my aerial footages, but hope next week better weather forecast.Thank´s my friend.
I have this drone And I’m thinking of getting a new drone but I understand the regulations change next year can you recommend a drone ,which once I get I don’t have to change again
The Air 2S is brilliant, but as things stand at present in the UK, all non C numerical marked drones become legacy at the end of the year and you'll only be able to fly in open countryside. Things may change given you still can't buy a drone with the new markings, or DJI may offer a paid for return and reclassify service....
Great video again Ian, cheers. Learnt a lot from your previous stuff too. What program do you use for editing? And have you done any tutorials on that?
Hi Jon. I use Adobe Premiere Pro but also Powerdirector 17 as it's also very powerful and really quick and Intuitive... Haven't done an editing video yet... On the list 👍🏻
I'm unaware of any impending updated model, but they don't announce this sort of thing. Check the specs, decide if it's good for you and go from there. There's always a new model of everything coming out in the near future and you can end up waiting forever.....
Does this drone has the option to follow alone without someone operating the remote control? if takes off from a boat, then to have it comeback alone will the drone fine the location because the boat will be on a different spot in the water?
Hi great video " can I ask a question , I have a Mavic air and it allways goes on 5.8 gh ( signal gets weak at 900 m away , does 2.4 gh make it go further and is it safe to change it or do I risk the drone , I know how to change it ,I just dare not do it lol ? And does 2.4 run smoothly . 👍
You can definitely change it but it should automatically jump to the band of least interference. Did you accidentally once change and permanently set it to 5.8 maybe? It should jump by itself. 5.8 should transmit further but is more likely to get interference..... Ian.
If I fly around obstacles like trees or buildings and then hit "return home", will it fly back the same way it went, will it make its own flight path dodging the obstacles, or will it return on a straight line likely hitting such obstacles?
Hey Lukas. If oyu can wait a couple of days, I'm editing a video comparing the Mavic 2 pro, Pro Platinum, Mavic Air and Mavic Mini. This will tell you all you need to make your decision... Hopefully getting that up a couple of days. Ian
thanks so much for a great video. I am a new owner, but I got it all set up and ready to go then i panicked and turned it all off. haha....any ideas why when i turn it on it continues to beep? Can't stop it.... great video though, i shall certainly watch the others.. thanks
Sometimes the controller beeps for no real good reason. Turn it off, without turning off the drone, then turn the remote back on again and usually that stops it beeping.... :)

@@IaninLondon Yes i do that too.
Watched this again! Have a mini and was close to buying MP zoom but I went with the air instead due to not doing professional work and cost. Got the fly more for $994 us.. I think I’ll be happy!
You will love it, especially if you go hiking. And good stuff getting the combo; extra batteries are good....
Thanks very much for great video !! I know feel safe to fly off our beautiful canyons we have in South Africa !! I was always worried that when I went over the cliff it would see that the bottom was 800 meters away and make its way down to the bottom !! Thank you
Great stuff! Get some video posted 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
When connecting the drone to PC and downloading the contents, I had never removed camera protector so far. Now I'll always do it, thank you for the explanation.
Any time you power on the gimbal will try and cycle thru its movement! And without the remote you weren't even being warned, so that's lucky it's not damaged it 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I sold mine when I got the M2pro, but I have a chance to buy another one fly more Combo brand new, what you think?? Did you keep yours??
I still have my original Air on the shelf, gathering dust. I should sell it! :)
Great as always Ian. 👍🏻
Cheers Phil! :)
Great video. I am looking for info on how to edit (cut or shorten video from my magic air) as I am a new owner. I use the DJI go 4 software and am looking for some guidance please
Of course we'll watch the whole video old son, we've bloody waited long enough for it ;)
ROTF... Yeah, you better watch it to that very last 20th minute man..You have no idea how long this beast took to edit.... I've gone grey... :)
@@IaninLondon TBH i'm only here for the canine content ;)
@@jinxed_jinxed_3443 I'll let Ted know....... :)
Love my Mavic Air.
nice!!

Thanks for your reply
Great video again Ian, cheers. Learnt a lot from your previous stuff too.
What program do you use for editing? And have you done any tutorials on that?
Hi Jon. I use Adobe Premiere Pro but also Powerdirector 17 as it's also very powerful and really quick and Intuitive... Haven't done an editing video yet... On the list 👍🏻
Ian in London cheers Ian.
Is power director usable on Apple?
@@jonpetersdronemedia4142 I think it's windows only. But then you can use Final Cut Pro which is pretty excellent I hear...
Great tutorial, just bought my mavic air, waiting for this coved 19 to pass 👍
Hi, I just learned about improved propellers. Would you recommend to use them?
Hi there; yes, watch this video on them: th-cam.com/video/UFyfLiYj2vk/w-d-xo.html
Should I buy the dji mavic air 2 year's later
I'm unaware of any impending updated model, but they don't announce this sort of thing. Check the specs, decide if it's good for you and go from there. There's always a new model of everything coming out in the near future and you can end up waiting forever.....
Does this drone has the option to follow alone without someone operating the remote control?
if takes off from a boat, then to have it comeback alone will the drone fine the location because the boat will be on a different spot in the water?
Thankyou
is the obstacle avoidance working well
I usually fly way above obstacles but certainly when I have come close to the odd tree it warns and stops.....👍🏻
Check 9:00. It reverses for 30 seconds then flies in a direct line back to the take off point. Ian.
Which one should I buy
The mavic air
Or the mavic mini
Or the spark?
@@IaninLondon thank you for that....
