Actually, people don't really care about animations. You can see, based on how Marvel animated TV shows perform, that the general audience won't tune in for a Wonder Woman animated series. I understand that the character may be expensive, but Wonder Woman having an animated debut in the DCU is the worst thing they could do to her. I do hope that Wonder Woman animated series is like Harley Quinn and My Adventures with Superman - its own thing, maybe something introductory for younger generations.
That's just not true in the slightest.. if they make it good they make it good. X-Men 97 was amazing and people loved it. DC just needs to do that for wonder women. Animated media is not dead.
Since Gunn said that, one of his inspirations for the DC films universe would be the DCAU, I think most of the projects in this first chapter might lead up to a Justice League movie adapting the Cadmus Arc (from JLU), with Amanda Waller as the main villain. It's possible that Legacy will establish that most super heroes in DC Universe either work for a company or the goverment (like Guy Gardner, Hawgirl and Mr Terrific) or just retired (ex: the JSA), are dead (Barry Allen) or don't work on Earth (ex: The Green lanterns). Batman is a exception since he's a street vigilante and the goverment doesn't see him as potential threat. However Superman's arrival changes this system, wirth exposing and stopping Waller and the goverment illegall operations while also inspiring guys like Mr Terrific and Hawkgirl to be more independent. From that the films begin to show more independent heroes showing up like John Stewart (he could choose to work on Earth), Flash (Wally West) and Wonder Woman. This causes the goverment to worry of this new super heroes and so, in response, could create a special task force to oppose the heroes in case they turn against world (it could be the OMACs or the AMAZOs). However Waller decides to not wait and instead uses her control over media to frame the heroes from crimes they didn't commit and turn the public against them, so she and her task force can legally hunt the heroes down (kind like the current event in the comics, Absolute Power). This would not only allow the DCU JL film to be different from what fans expect, but also the fact that most of the heroes were established in their own movies and TV shows, would help to give more impact when Waller and her task force captures or maybe kills some of them, bc they are all character fans would get to know, rather than being random extras.
I think the problem people have with a 10 years in Batman is that we have a concrete understanding of stories that take place within the first 10 years. But anything after that usually jumps to an alternate future like Batman beyond or the dark knight returns. There’s a period in between these two stages of his career that is largely unknown, which makes people scared, as they assume anything after the initial 10 years will be old man Batman
Hot Take: If they make Barry older 30-40 and Wally is a Flash, I think it would be better for Wally's Flash to be on an adult Titans with Dick as Nightwing.

It would only be hinted at in exposition, Easter eggs, or flashbacks.
I feel like only the Justice Society and Justice League International as its successors are the teams that are pre-existing in the DCU. Once Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman show up and change the game, the Justice League of America become a thing.
I think Legacy gives insight to Gunns ideas for the world. Justice League will be created in a later movie with inspiration from the Justice Society, carrying on a more honorable legacy for superheroes. Hawk Girl, Mr Terrific, and Green Lantern are both second or third iteration of a character, following in someone else's legacy. Superman himself having a huge legacy to live up to both in story and meta, being the last survivor of Krypton (for now) and possibly a fatherly death along with the real world legacy of Superman in media and pop culture
World's Finest - an antidote to what has become a cliche in which Superman and Batman battle. See WF face two big bads: Monghul and Ra's. Justice League. Let Supergirl fill Wonder Woman's shoes with the exception of a Paradise Lost that leads, perhaps, to JSA, and develop other females - Huntress, whomever. Titans. Starfire. Hawkgirl.
It would be cool to have more single character centric projects but I know at this point, that won’t happen like we’ve seen elsewhere. I’m really excited for the projects we know about already and can’t wait to see what else will be create. I can see the Wonder Woman project being a DCU project and hope it is! Great video!!
Zatanna is my 3rd favorite Superhero so I'd lose my mind if she got a solo project, but I think it's more likely that she'll only be in a Justice League Dark or Constantine project, then again if Dead Man can get a solo Animated Series then maybe so could Zatanna Wally West is my favorite Flash so I'd love to see him Green Arrow and Black Canary just like Hawk and Dove in Titans, I think Crime Fighting Couples is interesting to see and can be pretty good
That's an imagining of what Murphy's score might sound like by a TH-camr composer. But I have been listening to Murphy's "Flying Home" theme from the Kick-Ass soundtrack on repeat lately.. it's pretty epic.
In regards to green arrow I think the best way to tease to him is during the superman film there's an article being worked on about Oliver queen being found on an island and is back home safe after expected dead
Ollie and Hal and Barry are typically around the same age and form two popular pairs in the comics, so if Hal is going to be in his 40s - 50s, I expect the same for the other two. Ollie was in his 40s for most of Post-Crisis anyway in the comics, so I always expected that for the DCU. Which means Roy would be Arsenal with Connor Hawke also acting as Green Arrow whenever we're introduced to them
i wonder if Martian Manhunter will appear in Lanterns. i don’t think it’s out of the question, speaking of, i hope we see the Question sooner than later. i think i’d prefer a stand alone detective story, but he can team up with others occasionally, like Batman to uncover a deeper mystery
My theory with the justice league is that characters like Batman, green lantern and flash have all teamed up before on seperate occasions, however it wasn’t until Superman came along and thought to make it offical. I think it would be cool if the league was the first non-corporate team since the JSA.
I think my ideal version of a flash project would be focused on Wally becoming the new flash. Barry existed but disappeared one day, with him being treated as a legend in the superhero community. In a JLA movie, there could be small scene with someone like Batman telling Wally that he worked with Barry in the past, and that he would be proud of the man he’s become. It would be a big part of Wally’s arch to try to live up to Barry’s legacy, with him realising that he can be his own man. Throughout the saga Barry would always be looming over the universe, allowing us to feel connected to him despite him never being seen. In a hypothetical chapter 3 during the universe’s “endgame” project, in the same vein as captain marvel’s entrance, a flash of light appears in front of the villain, with a fully powered Barry speeding out towards the threat. It would be revealed that he’s been stuck in the speed force for years, and they can recreate Wally and Barry’s reunion from the comics. This probably wouldn’t happen, but in a perfect world it would.
That Arrow & Canary idea would be awesome!! I love the idea of them doing something with The Question too. I could see a standalone mini-series on Max. Wouldn't mind an easter egg that connects to something else in the DCU but for the most part, still having it be a standalone story within the universe. I honestly wasn't a Question fan until Justice League Unlimited, he was so well done on that show. Other characters i'd love to see eventually make their way into the DCU: Black Lightning, Firestorm, a more comic accurate Black Adam, Mr. Miracle & Barda, Zatanna, Huntress. And yes, I definitely want a true World's Finest movie! Superman & Batman teaming up against whoever.
Is it just me or is this universe already, so fleshed out and well thought out? It makes me so excited. The universe hasn’t even started yet and look how far ahead we already are with our thoughts of where it can go (and it doesn’t even seem far fetched)
I REALLY hope they stick to Martians design from young justice for the greens and white Martian, it looks so believable, their height length, the exoskeleton and the massive brains all over the body
Because of the description of what the Lanterns show is supposed to be…for chapter 1, I think Gunn is gonna go with an over arching big bad like The Centre. Just something wild and crazy that people aren’t expecting.
I'm so glad boba brought this up . a wonder woman animated series would be 🔥 . I personally would love to see a wonder woman series set in the timm verse set in the dcau with the batman Animated series , JLU ANIMATED Series ETC ETC . I Would Also LOVE ONE SET IN THE DCU aswell .
I feel like a JSA film set in the past where it’s not very connected to our present world could be their “prestige” film. It could be a one and done for a lot of prestige actors and filmmakers. I could see someone like Spielberg doin a JSA movies set in the 40s, 50s, or 60s. The only connection could be Wonder woman.
I have a theory for your next video, here we go! Justice League Final Crisis will be the final film of DCU Chapter One Gods and Monsters the reason I say this, because the synopsis for the Lanterns HBO tv show is "The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland." This kind of sounds like Blackest Night, but in order to do that as your Avengers Infinity War & Avengers Endgame for DC Studios, you have to show Batman's death at the hands of Darkseid, before Batman returns as a Black Lantern, so that means DCU Chapter One Gods and Monsters will end with Justice League Final Crisis and whatever DCU Chapter Two will be called ends with Justice League Blackest Night.
We need a Question series so bad. It would be awesome either way, but I feel it being part of the bigger story would be ideal. Vic studies conspiracy theories and is a reporter. To me it would fit the story that Gunn has teased.
and when he does eventually pass the torch it could be to terry and do batman beyond live action. now this assumes superman does solid numbers next year if not again back to square one
38:37 Scott Eastwood would be a great Bruce Wayne. He certainly looks the part. He's 38 rn, by the time TBATB comes out, he might be 41-42 which is the perfect place for DCU Batman to be and to continue for another 10-15 yrs (by the time he's 55-56).
In terms of which characters are featured/headlining which projects, it makes the most sense to me to give any introductions/features/titular characters the comic book treatment. Don’t give a C list character their own movie unless you have a hell of a story and actual audience interest. Start by introducing them in other projects with the more popular characters and developing them from there. Or you can create teams of characters, but that can be hit or miss. I want this universe to be full, but I don’t want great characters to be given half-thought out treatments.
The DCU needs to utilize characters that aren't usually in the spotlight in order to communicate with new fans as well as old ones. Doing so would give us a bit more understanding of how the popular DC characters (the ones under the spotlight) were viewed from different perspectives. For example, Orpheus could make a good reference into the corruption, racism and poverty in the City of Gotham and how he views Batman and the Bat family pre-The Brave and the Bold. Villain's perspectives are another thing; like Fatality and her perspective on the GL Corps or even Vandal Savage and his perspectives on these "new gods" given that he's been around ever since the beginning. But I'm really looking forward to what James Gunn has to offer. It would be great nonetheless. 🙌🏽
I would love a Justice Society story set in WW2, but I would want to see the Golden Age Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman in it as well. I want to see the whole Golden Age DC universe brought to screen.
I think Raven needs her own project. I've been dreaming of a good Horror Fantasy Superhero film and Raven is one of the most disrespected characters with a lot of potential for an amazing story.
39:24 I agree. Really loved the way Young Justice implemented their Light storyline. The threats felt real and it was nicely done. Hope they draw out the overarching-threat story in a similar manner!
I feel like the main flash will be Wally. My theory is we might see a justice league movie in ch 1 where the trinity, Hal and Barry are in there as founding members and have Barry be the one to die like he did in crisis. This will open up the possibility of Wally taking over that mantle and have the speed force be explained with Barry coming back later down the line. Hal could back down too since him and Barry were close having John Stewart be the main green lantern
34:47 Look mom, I'm on TV! But seriously, I completely understand what you're saying, most adults don't respect animation sadly. She should get her own movie like both Superman and Batman either way but that also applies to animation since she has never gotten one before.
Kind of like what Marvel did with their Netflix shows, I think The Question series could be self-contained while making passing references to other DCU elements.
One thing I want to avoid with the DCU is having too many limited series. I'd rather several ongoing series that we can follow, but the heroes can occasionally make appearances in the film. If they are all limited series then you have the risk of making it all homework to get the full story of each chapter, and it kind of dilutes the library. Instead, a few strong ongoing series is the way to go.
The problem I find with these group movies, like Avengers and Justice League, is that they have to modify the personas of the characters to create the right dynamic between them. The character gets distorted in actions or mentality etc… Flash, for example, is not really a comical character but he had to bear the part as comic relief in JL. In Watchmen, on the other hand, the characters were created together and and in sync with the very story. You cannot really tell the two apart since the characters actions is what drives the story forward.
I think Wonder Woman will be animation that they then can put into live action later. But I think we might even get some hints of this series in creature commandos as one of the villains seem to be an amazon. What great easter egg if we get a Wonder Woman cameo in creature commandos, then her own animated show and then she turns up for a tinity movie down the line. Also, The Question.. An old version, or the newer where The Question is Renee Montoya? If so, that could tease more bat family in the form of Batwoman!
Hard agree on seeing the older characters appear in the DCU, perhaps even just retired versions for advice much like Watchmen. Would be cool to see something like that crazy Alan Scott Lantern costume in a hero museum. I also think that’s an easy way to set Batman apart, in that being a superhero is a hard job, so most heroes find an out after a while. Batman would be different because he always pushing forward like it’s year one
Man lets just see the trinity forming the justice league an them battling some major villain for them to fight or like the legion of doom yea thats alot to do in one movie i say finally set a record with the world longest movie yea thats a really far fetch idea but hey get enough money anything id possible/ really risky
I just got an idea. and thank you for giving it to me. what if we get a constantine/zantana movie? we begin with the couple fighting, (normal couple fight; idont feel like your listening, whatever" ) And the whole movie or half of the movie could be flash backs or thoughts and we get astra and whatever zantanas thing is. A real romance/ love story with superhero big bad shit. I see a relatively low budget personal thing.
I think the Legion of Doom would be cool. But what they should do with Lex Luther is have him play like a Sen. Palpatine roll. Where he’s playing the nice businessman turning into politician but undercover, maybe give him a mask, helmet, hood or something he’s the head of the Legion of Doom and nobody knows it. This allows him to walk around and not be immediately arrested while acting rich and pompous. Yet he can use the Legion of Doom as his minions.
Me gustaría que la legión fuera algo tipo dark Avengers en dónde mientras más y más superhéroes aparecen en el mundo Luthor crea su propio equipo de villanos haciendose pasar por heroes
Maybe if there was a justice league prior to superman showing up, they were mor like the watchmen being more ruthless and careless because of their powers and the ppl shut them down with dislike, and then superman comes along and shows the old heroes a better way to work for the people rather than be an authority
Personally, I don’t think comparing Martian Manhunter to Zatanna, or Constantine, etc is fair, given that he’s one of the founding members of the JLA. Even Hulk (my favorite superhero) got a solo film prior to Avengers, despite being owned by Universal. Don’t get me wrong, Constantine is probably my favorite (now) DC character after Batman, but I feel like there ARE enough Martian fans for it to be successful. Coming off the heels of Avengers though (and how they dropped the ball on Hulk for instance): the way they treat the character across the movies is 100% MORE IMPORTANT than him getting a solo film. As long they give him some focus I feel like it’s fair. Particularly if he gets a big role in the JLA movie. (ie like in the animated series)
Martian manhunter simply isn’t popular enough to headline a series let alone a movie. You have to bring out things that will definitely be popular if you make a decent movie. The DCU would flop before getting started if they made a show with just Martian manhunter just because you’re a fan of a smaller character doesn’t mean it’s a good idea to produce something built around it
I could see a Martian manHunter series does like stranger things or ET and it’s about these kids trying to get him to the Justice League before the government catches him or something, could be cool

Titans. Starfire. Hawkgirl.
I gotta give Boba some credit. You're on vacation and you still dropping some banger videos.
Justice Leauge Dark would kick ass
Not before the actual Justice League though
@@claudiabcarvalhoyes it would because the best comes last, having that before the actual would be okay.
As long as JJ Abrahams isn't involved
@@lilstupidahhboy5155 That makes no sense continuity wise.
It would be cool to have more single character centric projects but I know at this point, that won’t happen like we’ve seen elsewhere. I’m really excited for the projects we know about already and can’t wait to see what else will be create.
I can see the Wonder Woman project being a DCU project and hope it is!
Great video!!
Yes, we NEED Martian Manhunter and the Legion of Doom! Great video Boba!
The Question is THE conspiracy guy, let him have this conspiracy!
If they use Stargirl in anything they MUST recast the actress from the sadly cancelled CW Stargirl series, she was so wholesome and believable.
Zatanna is my 3rd favorite Superhero so I'd lose my mind if she got a solo project, but I think it's more likely that she'll only be in a Justice League Dark or Constantine project, then again if Dead Man can get a solo Animated Series then maybe so could Zatanna
Wally West is my favorite Flash so I'd love to see him
Green Arrow and Black Canary just like Hawk and Dove in Titans, I think Crime Fighting Couples is interesting to see and can be pretty good
Did you listen to John Murphy's theme for Superman? "Up in the Sky"? Mr. Williams, eat your heart out!
Unfortunately, that’s not the real theme, but it is great!
Which means Roy would be Arsenal with Connor Hawke also acting as Green Arrow whenever we're introduced to them
I’m so glad you posted this, I’m so down bad and comics seem to be the only light in my world right now. Thanks Boba
i wonder if Martian Manhunter will appear in Lanterns. i don’t think it’s out of the question, speaking of, i hope we see the Question sooner than later. i think i’d prefer a stand alone detective story, but he can team up with others occasionally, like Batman to uncover a deeper mystery
Left a like. Enjoy your trip Boba
I hope we get a Martian Manhunter
My theory with the justice league is that characters like Batman, green lantern and flash have all teamed up before on seperate occasions, however it wasn’t until Superman came along and thought to make it offical. I think it would be cool if the league was the first non-corporate team since the JSA.
Love that you put clips of Flash v Reverse Flash while talking about preferences 💪🏻
Bob i maybe in Zimbabwe but I love your work brother, I Just hope I can get your help and be as grt as you
9:16 I think he meant he didn’t want an old 45-50 year old Batman starting out in the DCU.
I think a *JL Dark* series with Constantine, Zatanna, Phantom Stranger, Spectre and Chimp detective would be awesome.
i would like to see a nightwing cartoon-series included in dcu, including some cameos of wally west's flash and the titans.
If they do a Justice League movie I hope the lineup would be Diana, Clark, Bruce, J'onn, Vixen, Zatanna, Canary, and Hal.
They are not going to touch anything Darkseid for at least chapter three and they are not going to kill Batman for a while.
Would you like a Static Shock movie?
Come on man, I've been waiting on your video for quite some time now 😭😭😭
Martian Manhunter as an intergalactic detective with a choco addiction
I can't wait for creature commandos n for all this to start, I got a feeling this is gona be awesome, James guns gona smash it
I’m definitely down for a Green Arrow movie!! That would be awesome 🏹
Glen Powell I could see as Green Arrow
I would love a Justice Society story set in WW2, but I would want to see the Golden Age Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman in it as well. I want to see the whole Golden Age DC universe brought to screen.
I think Raven needs her own project. I've been dreaming of a good Horror Fantasy Superhero film and Raven is one of the most disrespected characters with a lot of potential for an amazing story.
Good discussion video.
I want a worlds finest movie so bad it has so much potential!
I would love it if the DCU worked up to a War of Light adaptation
Justice society was best portrayed in smallville
34:47 Look mom, I'm on TV!
But seriously, I completely understand what you're saying, most adults don't respect animation sadly. She should get her own movie like both Superman and Batman either way but that also applies to animation since she has never gotten one before.
Imagine a Wonder Woman movie set during either, the Revolutionary War or the Civil War, featuring some iteration of the JSA.
We need a show like Justice League Unlimited where every episode focuses on a different character(s)
The problem I find with these group movies, like Avengers and Justice League, is that they have to modify the personas of the characters to create the right dynamic between them. The character gets distorted in actions or mentality etc…
Flash, for example, is not really a comical character but he had to bear the part as comic relief in JL.
DC should do a hard traveling heroes movie with GA & GL if they'll do a World's finest movie.
13:54 Imagine lakeith Stanflied as the Question😮💨😮💨
Have good vacation buddy
Just wanna say we got some hints from Matt Reeves interview with collider, The Batman Part 2 is gonna take place during the winter.
What's the timeliness for chapter 1?
A raven movie would be amazing, show people how powerful she actually is
I think the Legion of Doom would be cool.
Maybe Martian Manhunter is part of the storyline in Lanterns,
i hope we will get to know about the team up movie
We still need a Flash/Barry Allen and Wonderwoman project in chapter 1 slates
Maybe if there was a justice league prior to superman showing up, they were mor like the watchmen being more ruthless and careless because of their powers and the ppl shut them down with dislike, and then superman comes along and shows the old heroes a better way to work for the people rather than be an authority
Silver age had the JSA as Earth 2 - I think that would be cooler but…
Where are the art photos of Flash, Batman and Wonder Woman from?
Where do I get the t-shirt??
