My beloved E55 AMG finally broke down so like every good car guy I took the opportunity to make it go faster, "while I was in there." In this video, we install a new water pump, a fixed supercharger pulley and multiple billet pullies in the front of the engine. This results in a glorious new supercharger whine and more boost! Seriously this thing sounds insane!

jmhellison i got mine 18 months ago, 146k miles now and this is a quick cost review:
SC pulley: 700 dollars (done at dealership thats why so high otherwise it would be like 50)
      Spark plugs and wires: 350
Both front air struts: 1200, did the job by my self
SBC break failed: free of charge replacement by MB, its under extended 25 year warranty by MB usa
My A/C is working weird, not very cold air, and air flow speed oscillates randomly or stops completely for no reason
Estimated cost: 140 to 500 without labor
      Regular oil and filter changes
So about 166.6 dollars a month i dont think is that high considering that most of the cost is for the airmatic that lasted 146k on originals, thats a lot

Seriously I have owned Mercedes for 20 years. Yes some parts cost more but usually because I don't like putting cheap parts in my car. I know Japanese cars last long not just Toyota all Japanese cars are good. But I like to call Mercedes the Toyota of the German brands. I love Mercedes I think I will always have one or two. On another note I like that you showed the coolant leaking all over you it shows that even the pros mess up. Keep up the great content I love this channel I'm glad it's growing for you

Absolutely awesome video. Your video solved a big mystery for me. I bought a Chrysler Crossfire that had been converted to an SRT-6 supercharged engine. It has a heck of a rattle at idle but I couldn't figure where the rattle was coming from and suspected there might be something wrong with the supercharger. I ran a stethoscope all over the engine and couldn't hear anything, I changed the pulleys, water pump, and alternator and added a pulley saver kit from Needswings. The rattle is still there and then today I watch your video and you explained that is normal with a fixed pulley. My car is a 6-speed manual and when the conversion was done they must have programmed the SC pulley to be on all the time. Now it all makes sense and I know there is nothing wrong. You made my day!

what a freaking likeable person, easy to understand too, i got a sl55 and since we got the same engine this helped me a lot, i got a cluth 83 pulley and i will probably go lower but clutched and then adjust teh engine by coding, i want to be able to drive smooth and then after certain rpm to engage, i understand the tension on high RPM when engaged with a smaller pulley so i guess is a matter to find the sweet spot, anyway, a huge Thanks

No joke- Those nice, clean billet pulleys really do make the "underhood" area look great.
And yes, I've seen a few guys (on TH-cam) heat up that pulley, too.
....AND I've seen one guy on here go a step further when he replaced the front bearing on the blower: He put the bearing into the oven and the other, pulley nose part, into a cooler filled up with Dry Ice.
After waiting a few minutes for the temperatures to get steady, the bearing slid right onto the pulley nose without any issue. It was pretty cool to watch.

Hi, Alex! I'm a big fan of yours, wish you all best with the channel and cars with it. I'm considering buying an E55 AMG from the first model year around 2003. I wonder if the SBC is kind of a pain, and also the air suspension bothers me a little. Can I have advice from you? I've done tons of work on my CLK 320 W209, so maintenance of these cars makes me happy, but have a few concerns with the E55. Thanks in advance :)...

Nice job again, is there no software way to engage and disengage the blowerclutch o avoid the rattling. Mayby the guys who do the programming of the icu know a trick?

LOL the supercharger whine sounds like a grinder/Dremel.

Also the blower bypass is to allow the engine to draw air when the supercharger is disengaged, not as a safety bypass iirc

Hey Alex! Did you have to install a resistor on the supercharger magnet/clutch connector?
