Hi, actually I am surprised that you did this just now. Its kind of main and easiest way of turning your any compressor Merc in to faster one. It doesn't matter if you have SL55 (or other with the same engine), C32 or C180/C200/C230 compressor - procedure is the same: change pulley, belt and reprogram map to run well - and you have 50+ HP fast and easy.
BTW - important now to change your stock intercooler to bigger aftermarket to make sure your intake temp is lower, because compressor heats up air quite fast. 2-3 runs on strip (or any road) ant it will reach some 55-60 degrees of C. Then you loose lots of power..
Basically you can get around 100hp just by changing pulley on compressor; pulley on crankshaft; intercooler and remaping. And you have around 600hp just like that.
Excellent and VERY clear video. Just one tip if anyone else intends to do this mod. You should check the clutch gap will a gauge and any adjustment is done with shims. My kit came with a selection of shims for this very reason.
See, this is the beauty of plug and play tuning. I used to live in the states and miss the great aftermarket world. Here in Spain you cannot modify a car due to very strict inspections.

7:59 The belt-wrap kit does more than let you re-use the OE belt. It forces the belt to *wrap around* the pulley to a greater degree (remember degrees of a circle?) so the belt is contacting more surface area of the pulley. Since the pulley you put on is smaller we need to grip more of it to get the same purchase, as the Brits would say.
$900 for a 10-15% power gain...pretty good bang for your buck. Great job Tavarish

@@jonaswelldone2900 I dont know how ecu works, my guess is its a software itself reading parameters that are altered through the "tune" I went from 179kW to 253kW, that ads 39,53% just with ECU tune.
I just tuned my 128i for the new 3-Stage variable-length runner intake manifold I installed over Thanksgiving. Need a few days for the ECU to adapt, but first impressions are amazing. The whole car feels alive! Congrats on the pulley and tune, Tavarish! If I were going for forced induction, I'd go for a supercharger, mostly for the absence of lag, and the sound.
Did you ever produce a follow up video on this pulley kit? What was the dyno really after install? Any drawbacks? Thanks!

No, because your car is turbocharged not supercharged, you would only be able to fit uprated turbocharger.

I’m very surprised that you were able to take that off with just a breaker bar. I had to remove the fan shroud so I could get it impact wrench in there. And mine only has 85,000 miles on it.
Glad to see an SL55 getting mods. Have you put long tubes on yet? That will yield you a nice gain as long as your tune isn't rich. most of the tuners out there advance timing too much which really isn't necessary and you can run the stock injectors if you have the light blue 480cc ones with that pulley and headers you'll be fine as long as your tuner doesn't suck, or get a tune for some slr ones if you plan to do the following mods I list. Word of advice don't go with the 550cc Bosch ones. If you really wanna get funky upgrade your TB to a 90mm BBK with a modified inlet to fit, port your heads and get some cams, if you want it to idle nicely get some slr cams and mod them to fit. Heat is going to be your biggest issue especially in hotter months even with an extra heat exchanger. Unfortunately our intercoolers arn't that great. Just get a trunk tank and use ice on your track days. Or a meth but you'll need a tune for that too and not the best in my opinion as a daily better to just go old skool and use a tank and or a KC. Also don't forget your diff, that will be night and day.

@Tavarish - Nice video. I ordered the 76mm pulley like you have. Did you do anything with cooling? It was suggested to at least add a split cooling kit which I ordered. Trying to figure out the install on the split cooling piece. Instructions were not that great.

The extra pulley from the belt wrap kit would increase the angle of contact, so it's a better way than a shorter belt
But is it worth $400 though?

What kind of cooling mods you would add to the 76mm? Would a upgraded heat exchanger be good enough? And any other suggestions on other mods other than cooling mods like injectors or even spark plugs? Thinking about a 80mm or 76mm🤔
I did wrench today. I removed the alternator from my AWD talon to install another one that I noticed immediately was bad, promptly re-installed the one I had just removed...... time wasted but now I've got 4 bad alternators in my car to be fixed for the spare parts horde.

I found over 6 different pulley products with 10 sec google searc, so not the "only ones" that make pulleys.
I would improve the cooling managment system. You should get a fan speed controller. It’s a nice way to not heat sink! Awesome video! Get some sexy wheels??

That was weird wasn't it. Were there enough new SL55's sold so he was able to get away with it? Or did everyone at Apple just know it was Steve and he's got a new car again.
It was leases through the company
"Steve (or someone close to him) spotted a loophole in the California vehicle laws. Anyone with a brand new car had a maximum of six months to affix the issued number plate to the vehicle.
So Jobs made an arrangement with the leasing company; he would always change cars during the sixth month of the lease, exchanging one silver Mercedes SL55 AMG for another identical one.
