  • How to change your stock intercooler pump to the updated Bosch 010 pump. This pump gives better flow and helps to prevent supercharger heat-soak.
    Part # 0392022010
    Car is a 2004 E55 AMG. Process is much the same for S55, SL55, and CL55 AMG except these cars are self-bleeding.

    Thanks for the excellent tutorial, used this when I replaced my pump which was from 2002 and completely disfunctional with this Bosch 010 version. I couldn't get the pump to actuate with Xentry nor was I able to power it up due to the close proximity of the contacts so I put everything back together and did not bleed the system. It seems to have self bled and runs perfectly fine for 3.000km now with much reduced temperatures. My car is a 2005 E55 Wagon.

    Greetings from Ireland. Hope youre all ok over there in these crazy times. 2006 CLS55AMG finally getting round to fitting the Bosch 010 pump. Getting heatsoak after extended WOT runs. Heat exchanger stone cold. Only thing i wasnt happy about was how to run the pump. HOWEVER just watched your video on the heat exchanger job. You used a wire in the 2 vertical slots for the relay on the sam in trunk left hand side. Looks like 87 and 30 on the Hella relay wiring. This is the only thing I need to get right before attempting this job. Id really like your opinion on this. Thanks AMGmeister

    Did you replace the pump because it went bad or is it more fficent, its the exact same pump it looks like, will it offer better cooling for the engine, i have a 100kmile cls55 amg and my heat range is always balanced in the middle never raises, thanks, and great vid!

  • @andrewwang8204
    @andrewwang8204 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great vid. Just performed the exact job that you did on my 2005 E55 and there were a few things that could be better explained.
    - I recommend a specialized clip remover. Just find it at harbor frieght for 20 bucks. These clips are incredibly stiff and using pliers to take it off is nigh impossible.
    - For the bleeding part, you will need to clamp up the return hose (there are two hoses close to the bleeding location, clamp the upper hose.) If you don't do it, no fluid will be going thru the pipe at all.
    - You want to use a slightly larger flex pipe than the one in video. It didn't fit over my bleeding system so I have to go a size up.
    - Finally, a easier way to do the power the pump would to take off the relay and hack something together with a 10A fuse. Break the fuse and short the two holes fatter connector on the bottom most relay in the fuse box. Then you don't even need to turn on the auxiliary power to run the pump. It just goes and let it bleed for upwards of 10 whole minutes. I was getting foamy coolant for all that time. There is a forum post that I followed and I forgot what it was :(.

    • @pschroeterps
      @pschroeterps ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for this and couldn't agree more, those Merc coolant hose clamps are painful to open and especially keep open to slide them away. Also blocking the return line is vital. I actually found out how to activate the pump via Xentry but with return line blocked starring the engine and hitting it with 1500rpm will do as well. Thanka for sharing!

    If I don't bleed the system would the air eventually bleed itself out somewhere eventually? Please advice I don't know if I can jump IC relay as I don't know where or which one it is...thanks. 2005 E55 AMG.

    sticking the hose to bleed the air I would think its not necessary. If you leave it connected and just uncap the coolant reservoir since its at a higher point it will bubble in there once it stops to bubble you can close the cap and call it a day. I've bled the system out that way on a couple of cars and had no issues. Then again it worked for me and I'm not a mechanic so I would have to look into this as well.

      Not my video but as an E55 owner I know what you are speaking of. That was, to my knowledge, a one time event posted by a rather fastidious owner. His is the only incident that I'm aware of and I'm certainly not bothered with the idea of tearing down my engine to replace that seal. I'm Mercedes Benz trained and not bothered in the least by the seal. I bought mine because it was completely unmolested and had 65K miles. I enjoy the car very much but if I were to do it again I'd buy a well modified E55 from a smart owner who did the job right. You'll end up with an even faster car and no headaches.

  • @BMWhips
    @BMWhips 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    The heat exchange cooler under the supercharger sits in the valley of the m113k engine. you can have the best IC pump - the separate system w massive front mount and the cooler will still be constantly fighting to stay cool & cool the hot boosted air. one good way to fix this problem is to insulate around the cooler (requires removal of supercharger to do however when done properly it dramatically lowers the Intake temps and also prevents massive heat soak. I do it with my stage 5 RENNtech + and see awesome power results from much lower Intake temps.. especially if you have a chem heat exchange system running from the A/C like i do for summer... good quality you did a great job.

    Hi Alex, John in Ireland with cls55. Looking at the install for I/C waterpump. I notice you pull off rubber hose from the back of old pump (where power connection is). I notices that the metal nipple had a hole in it. But the new 010 pump doesn't have a hole in it. I googled pictures of that new pump and NO hole in it. Can you explain please? Thank you very much for helping me Alex!

    • @AMGmeister

      Just a change in design where they eliminated the hole. Just plug the hose over it. Mercedes themselves later switched to this pump so it's perfectly oem.

      AMGmeister Thank you very much. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Now I did oil change tonight. Exactly what you put on your video clip. I added 8.4 litres measured exactly. Ran her up to temperature. Did the measure oil level. Read 7.3litres. But I know I added 8.4L. I intend to run car for a week and check again? Do I need to reset oil level reader? Oh, s/c cutting in fine, just 2 occasions in 3 weeks ownership. I guess pump is underperforming as you say. Will it affect the operating temperature of the engine. Currently sits steadily just above 80degrees Celsius? Really sorry to bother you Alex. This car is a big step for me! Regards from Ireland
