    Hey Steve just a little tip for sticking those nail foils, I use UV resin much quicker, pop the UV on then add the strip and cure under the light then remove the strip and it’s fab!

    Thanks for the ideas! I use resin in my woodworking projects, but I am terrible about estimating how much I need. SO, I always have some molds ready to make things like this, with my leftovers. My daughters like to give letter keychains to their classmates (although, I am starting to suspect my 8 year old is selling them :) ). This video will give me ideas on how to make the letters so much better!

    I love the versatility. Resin is amazing, and so are you! I really need to get those alphabet molds! I also want to tell you that I finally got that glue gun, and I love it! It's so nice not having a cord attached, because I've knocked things over with the cord, and if I didn't put it on the stand properly, the cord would just make the glue gun fall off the stand. So I really love the cordless one! And the cordless glue gun also has a tip that's smaller, so I can use it on small projects and not have a lot of mess! So I really appreciate you leaving links for us all so that we can have these amazing products too! Oh, I need to get some micro brushes too! Time to go shopping!

  • @pamwaldron3504
    @pamwaldron3504 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just a heads up - if there is any chance the little eye screws will be subjected to unscrewing or twisting movement, you might prefer to secure them with resin instead. Squish some into the hole and around the eyescrew shank when assembling, and cure.
    Super glue holds great against pulling apart, but will shear (break apart) if subjected to twisting or sideways stress.
    Also, sometimes dropping a supergled item onto a hard surface can snap or shear the glue apart.

    The way you did the "M" makes it look like my High School's Letter Logo!! Our character is the
    Miller Man for the "Yukon Millers." And we put the "Y" inside the "M" … I know you didn’t mean to put a "Y" in the inside of the "M." But it sure looks great! If the "M" had been a dark Red, then it really would have looked like the old logo… I graduated from HS in 1990… so, this was a looooong time ago!!!! Our colors were Red and White and our Miller Man came from the Mill Workers at the ancient flour mill that my little home town was famous for! Even though those Mills have been closed for 50 years, they still stand tall and are a famous historical landmark on old Route 66!!!!

      The bottom of the mold is the front. So glue sequins and jewels and such to the mold before you pour the resin. Make sure they are upside down. Then pour in your apoxy. You can pour a little uv resin, put your gems down, cure it, and then pour the mold. That looks nice. Or you can dome the front of it with UV resin after it's cured. That way you won't get any backwards letters.

I want to make some kind of memorial resin keychain or necklace with the ashes of a deceased pet…like using the ashes to make the initial of his name or something similar. If stream of glue are showing through, you haven’t let the glue dry enough… try using UV Resin instead nail glue or whatever… it works better than the nail glue in my opinion…. Plus you don’t have to wait for the glue to dry to use it,,, you don’t need much of the UV Resin either… literally, just smooth it on till it’s "tacky" and the. Put the nail foil down… cure it, peel,the foil and boom, you are done! :)

    Steve help!!! Who do your gems look like cut gems still? I do it and they come out like a mirror with no facets showing. I need to add swarovski to a piece but my test turned out terrible. Silver dots.

    Hi Steve so when the letters are backwards "" your F"" can I reverse the washi tape will the glue be visible on the front of the tape when de moulded hope this makes sence

    • @jok7548
      @jok7548 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the better way of doing it would be to fill the mould fully, then add the nail foil to the top of the piece (once cured) and then dome it, if that makes sense?

    Steve is it just me or is your letter F backwards with the washi tape on? Cause that's the sort of thing I end up doing lol. Also wouldn't it be cheaper to use tacky glue than gilding glue? Hugs x Ann x
