This is just what I needed - we have a Sealine S34 with twin KAD32s and I'll be doing our servicing in future. Just bought service parts from Volvo and nearly died, so will be getting cheapos next time!! Thanks for this excellent video.
Thanks for the videos Dave. Informative and easy to follow Instructions. Gave this amateur the confidence to tackle basic servicing on my Kad32 single engine boat. Cheers 👍🏻
You you have lot of knowledge, really interesting to watch you working, wish I found this channel when I had my bayliner, it also had a kad32, and I didn't know all this stuff 😕
Yep i've done mine in the water too, I'd heard some people say it was possible others say not and couldn't find anything official about the mounting on this specific boat so i just did it slowly incase i got wet :)
@@DavesBoat Hi Dave - the impellor sits above the waterline and is perfectly OK to do - I've had to change both on FN now over the past year - once in a rocky sea! Good old manometer theory.. unless something is pushing the water in from the outside!!!!! Just make sure the new ones are well lubed so they don't instantly run dry before the water hits them! However £54 each!!!!
Thanks glad you enjoyed it. The brand name is manoil, the full label with the grades etc is here drive.google.com/file/d/1bQnkN3tbulqcOp9z35mStrA7lxjw1R7B/view?usp=sharing There are other alternative brands that also meet the volvo VDS-3 standards too. This was from Ebay was about £22 if i remember correctly where as official volvo stuff runs to about 60 quid just for the oil you need for one engine.
Like 6 hours per engine can't decide if it was a slow ass pump or the oil really was like sludge. The problem to me is if I run the engines to warm it up there's bugger all oil in the pan to pump out, if you let it settle it's cold and won't pump. May not have helped the 2 degrees outside temp either I guess :( I may find a bigger pump for next change or maybe try one of those hand vacuum pumps not sure yet I'll decide on a few months
Great video, I change my oil in the summer as it is warmer and much quicker to pump out (I use a manual pump), usually takes less than an hour, but I have also done it in the winter by running the engine for 30minutes first and found I could get almost all of it out without waiting 2 hours you suggested, it drains down to the sump reasonably quickly in my experience. I would keep a filter wrench onboard otherwise how will you change a fuel filter in an emergency with your spare, just a thought.
I think I come to the same hypothesis in part 2 tbh about the oil 😂 the filter in an emergency I'd do it the messy way, screwdriver through it although for what it costs putting a wrench on would probably be sensible
Some official parts from prior diesel, oil filters and air filters and secondary fuel filters came from euro car parts and the primary fuel filters and breathers were from Amazon 🤣
Hello. Could you tell me all the equivalences of spare parts that you have bought. I want to buy them at a car parts store and I don't know what references to buy. I mean brand and reference. thank you .

Glad you attempted it, hope it all went well.

Good video, very informative. It gives me the confidence to do it myself. (When I eventually get my boat.)
Don't let them scare you apart from limited access its still just an engine.
Great vid Dave and you have reminded me that I really need to do my 'rare as rocking horse poo' oil change on our KAD32's as well
PS - Fancy coming and doing mine as I have literally ZERO time to myself at the moment!!!
@@lovelifeloveboat I wish i had time to make it to the broads
Hi
Dave you can change the impeller for the water pump with the boat in the water I did mine.

What a superb video so well explained and captured in such a cramped enviroment liked and subscribed.
What engine oil did you use and where from ?

Very enjoyable watch, I didn't laugh as you banged your head, honest. How long did it take to pump the oil out? Thanks for the video.

Calienta el motor
I would leave a filter wrench in the boat, just in case.
Not the first person to suggest that
