Thank you Chuck! I am a new 2020 C28 Cutwater owner and wanted to do the maintenance myself. I used your video to guide me through the oil and fuel filter change process. Hopefully, you can do one for the transmission as well! There is one change for at least our boat: The little pin for the water sensor on the D4 260 fuel filter is a push pin that doesn't come off. So makes it a bit easier.
2015 R-27 (D3-200) new owner. My engine warning indication came on that the (secondary) water separator was full. Which meant that both the primary and secondary separators had water in them. So we took the sensor off the secondary filter (on engine) and drained it, replaced the filter. Then I could not get the nut off the bottom end of the primary filter housing. So we removed the entire unit and disassembled. The bottom half (primary) which is a water separator too was full of gunk. So disassembly really was required to clean it all out. All total we got about a cup of water out of the units. My point here is that it is hard to see how bad the bottom of the primary unit is by looking in from the top of it with the cap off, even after dumping all the fuel out of it.
Great video, thanks Chuck. Where can I buy the brass fitment you mentioned that fits into the oil drain hose and then to the pump? I have tried drawing cold oil out of the dipstick filler and it’s very slow. I am draining cold because I have water contamination ( self inflicted mistake!), engine has not started so really want to get all the oil out of my D6 , refill it then start it, drain again and change oil and filters a second time.hence the question
Thanks so much for this video. I just bought a 2019 Ranger Tug R-29 CB with the same engine and this is going to be so helpful for changing my oil and filters. Also, I really like that oil change pump rig you have. I assume you can pump directly into the bucket under the pump? Seems like a good setup!
Great video. How about the Air Filter and the Crankcase Ventilation Filter? Those should be done every 200hrs same as what you just did. Also a video on the impeller would have been nice.
when marking the filters I also put the engine hours and date. Question, since you see or work allot of Volvo Penta D4s, what is your opinion of the D4-260? I have a 2007 D4-260 on my boat with approx 500 hrs on the boat and engine (I'm the original owner). Good work on changing the oil. Thanks.
Chuck is one of the nicest guys you will meet. I am glad we have him at Reed here in Michigan.

excellent video thanks -i presume the D6 is the same?
Thank you sir!
lovely clean work, but don't use an adjustable wrench for the bleed: too easy to slip and damage the nut. Ring spanners where possible!
Thank you Sir
