    Many thanks, I had the occasional temp alarm when pushing on in my Leader 805, I followed your suggestions in this video, it all went very smoothly on my KAD43, next a sea test, but many thanks for the video.

    Thanks so much for this video. I just flushed my KAD42 with barnacle buster after watching, and everything went according to plan. I was able to use some different size hoses to step up from the bilge pump to the larger engine hoses. The engine is definitely running cooler now. I took the boat out for a run straight, as a Volvo engineer mentioned that you don't want any of the product sitting in the system for any length of time after the flush is complete.

    Thanks for this video, very helpful. Just flushed my KAD42 heat exchangers after my temps were creeping up at speed. I found some hose reducers at a local pond shop (13mm-25mm adapter) which were a great fit. Used a section of garden hose and a small 12v submersible pump. Thanks again.

    I am really glad you commented on Mr. Burnham's latest Aquaholic video as you really interested me with your mention of inland boating!

      Glad to have you aboard I'm doing my best to add more videos though this is not my day job so stick with me. i am building the new lithium battery for our boat over the winter so you'll see more on that and hopefully a lot more boating vlogs from the river Thames in the new year 👍

    Great video; I believe it's also safer practice to remove the engine anode before the application and put it back afterwards; as the Rydlyme will dissolve the existing anode instantly. Even better to have a replacement anode at hand in case the current one is already depleted.

      Great point! worth checking if your engine has them mine on the Kad44 doesn't have internal anodes in the cooling system but definatley worth check 👍

    Hi. You mentioned in one of your videos about exposing/replacing exhaust elbows on your kad44’s. Would be good to see.

    Hi just come across your videos they are really helpful ,
    I have a pair of kamd300a and after watching your videos I’m going to clean the heat exchangers and change compressor oil 👍👍
    I did all the other service jobs already, I wonder if u could tell me what temperature your running at when on tick over and at 3000rpm please ?
    Ps recently changed water pump on one engine £650 for pump and a real pig of a job as I’ve limited space 👍
    Cheers Tony
    Looking forward to more videos

    Thanks will have a go at this on my VP_KAD300. Wonder what size pipe reducer at engine end - is it 38mm? Pond shops seem to have something suitable in this size. Also did the bilge pump survive the the chemical long term?

    Had you been having any issues with steaming/heating up or was that entirely preventative? I’m having some steaming on a KAMD 300 and the exhaust elbow has been mentioned in addition to raw water strainer and impeller. Edit: Sorry, you mentioned over heating at the outset!

    Hi
    This video is great! 1 question: why are you flushing it in a reversed way? Does it have a specific reason?

    Thanks, did you remove the raw water pump impeller while flushing?

    • @Boatingtube
      @Boatingtube  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no need to as this does not go through the impeller you feed in or out from the output pipe from the water pump so not potential to damage it 👍

    Did you drain the system before starting the process with Rydlyme?

    • @Boatingtube
      @Boatingtube  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      On one engine I drained it and added rydlyme 50:50 with water. On the other engine I didn't drain it I just added rydlyme neat as there is about 6l in the cooling system and it mixed as it went round. So probably not much of a difference (depending on the size of your engine

    Do I need to remove termostat before I start flushing?

    • @Boatingtube
      @Boatingtube  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the thermostat is on the fresh water (antifreeze side ) this is flushing the sea water side so no thermostat. check you do not have an anode in your engine though as this will fizz it away. most stern drives (like the KAD's) don't seem to have them but worth checking

    I've linked both of my kad43 pentas together in the same manner you've done, but I'm only able to get 4 gal into the circuit. There's no air in the lines, and it's flowing nicely. I can't figure out why it's not taking the 20 ltrs it should be. Any idea what's wrong?
