The problem is that there really isn't a good solution to this problem since it's in the comments sections rather than the videos. Do you lock down comments sections when they become problematic? TH-cam can only do this re-actively if it wants to still allow comments at all. Do you hire enough mods to read all the comments? Makes the platform unprofitable. Do you introduce yet another AI bot to do it? It'll catch things it shouldn't and miss things it should. Do you require channels to police their own comments sections? Most content creators don't make enough money for that to be a worthwhile use of their time.

Except this isn't going to get rid of pedophiles. Rich already explained that in the video. They're going to find another way, while in the meantime, the only ones getting punished are the TH-camrs. The pedophiles will see no consequences for this.
Abya Yala He’s not defending them, he’s saying that by these videos causing ads to be pulled everyone suffers, but the actual pedophiles can just go somewhere else. They don’t need advertiser money, because they usually don’t make it. They comment on innocent videos that have children and act like creeps but these videos being removed and advertisers leaving won’t stop them.
The only way you could “stop” pedos would be by disabling every comment section on every video. That means effectively ending the conversations that make TH-cam TH-cam. Also this wouldn’t even stop them. It would silence them but they’d still watch. The videos themselves are not bad it the comments. So advertisers are pulling because of customers. I’m pretty sure pedos have been to Disneyland. Does that mean that we should boycott Disney? No. And you could say that stopping pedophiles is more important than people’s livelihood. Ok but then you should get off TH-cam. Don’t watch. Don’t comment. There’s nothing TH-cam could do other than getting rid of comments.

The problem is that people can sexualise anything if they want to. Its the same as the pages for sexy news readers because they are wearing a low cut top. To a normal person there is nothing sexual about these videos. Lets take this videos, well your a larger guy and some people get off on that and you have a beard so maybe you could be seen as a 'bear' by the gay community. You mentioned about being on the toilet for days well there are people who get off on 'scat play' so they may get a thrill from you saying that. There is no way that this can be stopped unless youtube looks at EVERY post made on the site.

Can't say anything about KS as I've never watched their videos but Rich is a joke.
He once claimed that it takes him 8 hours to make a video as he has to do fact checking and gathering information, etc, but when he uploads videos he's wearing the same shirt and you can tell that he's made several videos in one session and his editor has obviously edited them in to single topics.
It's not just Rich, there are countless TH-camrs who just sit in front of a camera reading news articles and offering their opinion, which is fine and all but when these people are claiming to be "Content Creators" it's just laughable.

TH-cam has not given the least of a crap about this sort of creepy stuff - prime example: the ASMR videos of underage kids using inappropriate adult phrasing to sexualize/age themselves which has recently seen press coverage. This guy may be a fraud, but TH-cam left themselves open for this.
It sucks because it's going to hurt legitimate TH-camrs again, but, if it wasn't this guy, someone else was going to break this. TH-cam is the real bad guy here for not cleaning up their house, at the very least once the stories started rolling about other stuff. Nonetheless, young girls are still being exploited in these videos. These videos that the guy is talking about , a lot of them are actually advertising on the girls in the videos. They are advertising the sale of that particular girl. No matter how unconventional TH-cam is advertisers should pull away until TH-cam fixes the problem. They’ve fixed problems before like the “reply girls” they managed then so I’m sure they can manage now.

There is also the possibility that advertisers don't care about whole child thingy but it is more a strategy to advertise for cheap. For example youtube says disney come back and disney says sure but for lower rates.. So basically they are using this excuse to get lower rates for advertisement. Also from what I understand is that advertisement goes trough a company that has whole bunch of companies in their profile too advertise. Gives them also a stronger position to negotiate against youtube.

One of the things I don’t understand about Adpocalypses is that people still actually watch videos that are “bad” for advertisers. We can still see ads and remember them. To be honest, I would remember an ad completely if there was only one advertiser who is willing to put their ad on videos that are “unacceptable” for advertisers. I think advertisers are just missing out on marketing opportunities
I saw his video and I don't recall him saying people need to pull their ads from youtube. If anything these companies said they postponed their ads until this is dealt with and if these videos were quote unquote innocent then I don't think they would be disabling comments, making them private, and exchanging them for others.

The problem with a list that tells people what they cant do is that once you know what you can't do you can figure out a way to do it.
Ads got pulled, but at least the original issue got fixed. If you search of _lewd_ things you don't get as many kid made videos, it also seems that they have their comments disabled on all of those videos and the sidebar is back to being random, when before it was stuck on kid related videos.
Sometimes it takes a kick to get things changed...

"One thing that needs to be spoken about how times are changing. The idea of having a paid members system for channels needs to be talked about. YT shouldn't be beholden to Advertisers. When they do they start adjusting their content not because they want to but because advertisers wont put ads on them if they are not. Thats why main stream cable news media sucks cause they are beholden to their advertisers and never report on news that may or may not paint their advertisers in a bad light. Take The Young Turks for example, whether you love them or hate them, they have a paid members service where most of their funding comes from. If youtubers had some sort of system like that, advertisers wouldnt really have to be the big controller of content on YT.

I think it's disturbing to know these videos may face demonetisation for nothing more but other people abusing their videos. I'd much rather see people time coding this get a life-long ban and being reported to police. And no, I don't care about the pervert time coding an adult person in a suggestive pose. I'm talking strictly about the child oriented stuff.
how would you know if a timecode is bad and should be banned? and how would you do a life long ban on throwaway accounts. And on what perticular charge would you report someone to the police. Because as of right now it is not illegal to masturbate to pictures and videos of kids that are not childporn. Nothing even slightly reasonable is a useful solution and every useful solution makes either the site unusable or increases Googles cost by the billions at wich point they propably abandon youtube.
No ads = youtube loses money = youtube responding. It isn't that hard to understand. Sure, they said they were taking action before but they just didn't say anything about it / show much proof of it. Now we are actually seeing whats going on behind the scenes, which seems like they're doing their part. All those advertisers will come back eventually, just quietly and one at a time, because they can't afford to miss out on all that sweet sweet recognition they get from having their ads out there.
You realize it's not possible to track the real problem when you think the problem is something else...

The part that is sad about this video is how quick these advertisers are to pull their advertising. Before looking into the facts. And when a advertisers hey we're pulling our advertising why doesn't TH-cam immediately go through and see if the claims are true. Considering advertising is how TH-cam makes her money you would think that they would want to protect themselves and keep advertisers advertising.
At this point, keeping ads on and getting demonetized is going to be very similar to having ads on... because most people won't be making any money with ads on anyways

That's the sad thing. Advertisers do not care whether there is a real situation or some idiot spreading misinformation. As SOON as there is even the *smallest chance* that something is going wrong, they will pack up and run, and never look back. It sucks, but it's the money that they want.
The issue is Rich that although it may not directly facilitate this function of TH-cam, the website does practically nothing to stop this from happening. People aren't asking for TH-cam to burn down and stopping any videos, but there's a lack of protection for young people on this platform, from what I'm able to see anyway. I don't have a clue about the legitimacy of the TH-camr, but the advertising thing aside, this IS a problem and TH-cam should be doing MORE to prevent it.
