i worked at scea and it was just like this every day. literally ppl would call us asking why they were banned when they 'din du nofin' and we would be like "You spammed the N word to someone you were playing Call of Duty against at which point you were suspended for 3 days. Then right after you were unbanned you put the F word in seven different chats to seven other ppl one of which was the person you called the N word and were suspended. 2 days after you were unbanned you posted nude pictures of an underage girl from your school to get 'free games'. then before we could ban you, you used a stolen credit card to make a bunch of fraudulent charges. You then used your console to pirate a bunch of games from PSN..."

What I take issue with are these virtue-signaling institutions with no actual honest interest in upholding civil liberties telling me - a gay man - what is and isn't homophobic. Just for clarification, the Xbox Live dashboard was rated for everyone, and they really wanted to keep that rating so they were quick to react to anything slightly profane on profiles, since they can be accessed through the dashboard.
I loved being on the forums back in the day, there were many parents that threatened to sue, despite their child having made severe terms of service/use infractions.
It was a goldmine of fun.
Regarding the freedom of speech thing, people still think that it applies to things like TH-cam or Facebook, so still today people need to have it explained to them and most don't seem to understand it, and they will just shout censorship and that they will sue because they have freedom of speech, when they get a ban for breaking the terms of service.

I got suspended for calling some one stupid. Two people reported me and I got automatically suspended. I've been suspended in the past and it goes to show that if you've been suspended before you get automatically suspended for nothing. They didn't even review the reports.
