This is beyond addiction. This kid has problems. I'm obsessed with games and tech in general, but I atleast go to work. I had my head buried in my ds as a kid but I still looked up to talk to my parents (or who ever talked to me). I put the damn thing down when my mom put a plate of food in front of me. My family didn't teach me to put it down, i knew enough that life was more important than a high score.

@@anthonymacgregor9790 I don't think that's game addiction, looks like a projection of his stress into gaming. Someone wouldn't play games for 48 hours straight that easily, even games becomes boring at that point. You need a keen mind to enjoy and focus on games, unless you are playing a game with a movie like setting and is spending more time watching than playing.
Because the moment gaming becomes a chore and grinding for Exp is a form of working, it's not even game addiction anymore, more like slave labouring.
I'm making connections to slavery, because of the victim's state of mind.
A slave doesn't think, he does what he is told or is following. A gamer is a critical thinker, will create goals and strategize to accomplish them in video games... A slave would plow through the game blindly.

The media likes to dramatize everything, always saying that video games are evil. I have played video games for 21 years. Yep, I was 6 years old when I started. First game I played was a Mario game. I am now 27. With years of experience, I would like to point out some words of wisdom, as well as personal experience, to all fellow gamers gathered here. It is not the video game that is bad. It is the person who plays it. It's like the difference between a gun and the person carrying it. The computer or console is just a machine. It's a tool. It has no consciousness, no motive, and no personality like humans do. More importantly, it does not have free will nor make the same choices as humans do. In truth, to prevent oneself from becoming obsessed requires a disciplined mind. Trust me. Take these words under advisement, and they will one day save your life. I was once an addict, and it was a terrifying experience. I know. If you have family members who are addicts, I suggest you give them the same advice.

I take vacation time, I stop for food/bathing/bathroom, and my binges are purely for specific games for a specified period. I gave those binges up when I had a kid but they were something I did so rarely it was once every five years or so. Mostly when a new Zelda game came out.

MMO and Battle Royale and most multiplayer and mobile games are cancer. What ever happened to single player games that offer enriching and valuable life experience? What ever happened to imagination? Games are no longer art, they are cashgrabs and require people to be addicted on order to make profit. Disgusting.
Edit: What I failed to express in my original comment was that, all these battle Royales and mmo's take most of the spotlight; they become trends, people hop onto these trends then they can't escape. They're left to endlessly play games that dont give any valuable experience, only temporary rushes of dopamine.
I made it seem as if I think single players games don't exist, which I know isn't the case, far from it. So everyone please excuse me for that. The problem isn't the lack of single players, it's the battle Royales and MMOs taking the spotlight and getting everyone addicted.

Its real easy to critique others when we have a perfect life where the main problem is to choose between Samsung phones or iphones, how can you all relate to someone that may very well has some autism problem ?
I had do endure estupid ppl judging me because of my kid "anti-social" behavior,
Judging someone just by seeing some video is usually a sign of stupidity, but hey internet is a perfect medium for stupid ppl to share ideas.
I repeat, the problem is not gaming.

    • @mentalpopcorn2304
      @mentalpopcorn2304 5 ปีที่แล้ว

That's all well and good, but it's a whole different story when someone is literally putting their life at risk for their addiction.
Being judged for being antisocial is wrong, but you deserve judgement no matter who you are if you're putting your life at risk just for an addiction.
These are two completely different circumstances.
If your kid was gaming this long and putting their life at risk would you be just fine with it? Saying they need it? I'd rather my kid have to deal with a little bit of personal problems rather than dying, but maybe I don't know a thing about parenting or preserving precious life.
The fact is you're defending these people which makes it seem like if your kid died for a reason like this, your outlook would be "at least they were happy doing it" which isn't okay. That's so many years of life gone because someone decided to not do their job and be the parent.
"Internet is a perfect medium for stupid ppl to share ideas" you're right here with us watching that video. I don't accept the fact that you think I'm stupid, but you also called yourself stupid based on that sentence which I wouldn't hesitate to agree with

@@mentalpopcorn2304 "but you deserve judgement no matter who you are if you're putting your life at risk just for an addiction. " Instead of engaging in "critique" you can always try to help. Im not defending the mother, im just saying that shes is doing her best, its not the perfect way to deal with it, but she is doing her best. Maybe instead of the whole hate group mocking her they should try to engage in positive ideais and try to help help. I made some mistakes with my kid, some huge miskates, it took outside help for me to be able to learn, for me it was easy to find that outside help because in my country, the city were i live, its easy to get that kind of help. but in the whole world there are places that dont have that kind of help. Its easy to educate a kid that fits real within "normal" parameters. Usually theres alot of small steps, tiny steps, we dont even realise those tiny changes, and we just go along for the ride not realising that our perception of the reality is changing. That mother (and im just guessing here) maybe would have never thought that she was going to do that for her kid, but those tiny changes lead her to have another view of reality around her, now instead of the hate gang mindset the ppl around her should "shake" her world so that she could step out of that vicious loop. That video could very well be me, but it took an outside "force" to force me to step out of the loop. Addictions, mental problems, are not easy to deal with it, its easy for an outside person just to judge. Im not english so its not easy to try and put it in words what i really want to say, im not saying thats a good thing she is doing, but its all she "can" do at the moment with that mindsite she has. Instead of hate ppl should try to be more understanding and give an helping hand.

Such as putting his dishes away, she would grab his dishes, walk up to the drawers and call a staff member into the room to Upen the cupboard for him so he could put his dishes away. Youth that have this level of disconnect are usually using it as an escape, but it can be a hugely difficult thing to relate to at times.

    Addiction is a scary thing.
People can get addicted to anything to a variety of degrees.
This case is one of those outlier, extreme situations where a young teenager is addicted to gaming to the point where he won't even get up to go to the bathroom because he plays literally for 48 hours ... This is not _normal_ by any means; even by addict standards.
What's worse is that I feel like the mother and grandmother are enabling this behavior by looking after the kid with food and vitamins.
We don't know why the kid ended up like this and why the mother and grandmother allows this behavior and feeds the kid.
But I would say that this kid definitely needs to be disciplined and educated.
He needs to be taught that gaming is fine and all, but he should *at least* get up and go the bathroom, go take breaks to eat, and walk around.
This kid clearly doesn't realize how dangerous it is to not go to the bathroom for 48 hours (dang that's crazy) let alone getting up to eat.
He needs to be told that he can literally die if he keeps this up.

I've had an addiction to Skyrim years ago. Luckily at the time I had no job and was living with my parents. For two whole months, I woke up at 6am and play until 2am, only leaving to at and go to the bathroom - eating only pizza pockets and 7up. What got me off of that game was due to a bug that would have caused me to start at a point where I didn't have all my awesome loot that I got in the 200+ hours I spent. But hearing something like this is scary.
I would have told the cafe to not allow the kid to play anymore, or at least give him a limited amount of time to play. Sure he might get upset and pull a tantrum, or even get violent, but at least it would limit him. I seriously doubt a cafe would want to be held responsible if one of their customers fell over due to mal-nourishment/exhaustion. And if he did become violent, then the police would get involved and get him the help he needs. Worse case, he just moves onto another cafe.
