I use Apple barrel brand "pool blue" acrylic paint for the eyes. It's exactly the same color the official uses, it costs 50 cents and you can remove it if you ever need to for any reason, like resale for instance.

F'ing loved watching that! I got the second running the ko. His knees were improved and they fixed other things as well. I like the yellow translucent bits on his forearms vs the red. He still can't hold his gun properly. I'm very happy with my purchase. Thanks for your review
I forgot to add that they painted the eyes on the second batch also. No more dead eyes

Cool video. Ratchet on elbow prob helps w/ the gun & effect. I have the real & the elbow gives out if a fly zooms by.
Fantastic review! After seeing this and considering inconvenience compared to cost, I would gladly purchase the KO. I would much rather work with unpainted plastic than risk chipping paint. A+++

Sick intro, great voices on Soundwave and Shockwave, and all around great comparison, although I believe this mp44 KO is a pretty solid fixer-upper. Mine is arriving today, we'll have to see if that opinion changes

@@BotsandBits Painted mine's eyes with a gundam marker, looking fantastic already. Mine came missing the screw on the back of the waist to tighten/loosen however, so the back of the ab crunch doesn't lock into place. It isn't loose/floppy but it does move on it's own accord if held a certain way

i still can't believe there are people out there who say mp44 is better then TE-01 like even the ko which usually make improvements on figures now couldn't really fix this horrid waste of plastic
Beautiful figure but it is crazy these little things you have to worry about.
If I get this I may consider hitting it with a gloss varnish. If it's $100 I don't see any risk.

Thanks for this very detailed review of the KO MP44. I think I am going to wait and see if the sliver legs version fixes any of these issues, if not I will probably get him eventually. The Takara version is WAY overpriced but I would love to just see how some of the transformation works and have a version of the mold for my collection. MP-10 is still good enough for me (and now has a lot of sentimental/nostalgia too).
I wish Takara would stop re-making Prime, Starscream, and Megatron and get us a Jazz, Mirage, Springer, Kup, Astrotrain, etc. I really hate all the "cartoon come to life" rather than "real-life looking version of the character" that they have gone to lately. Even with Sunstreaker the rediculous face made me have to purchase the Spinout version just to get a decent head-sculpt! Argh! -- end rant

Idk. This would be a bot mode only thing for me. Still pretty happy with my Magic Square Prime, probably a pass for me. Maybe when the KO hits 60-70$
Think I'll wait year to get a better version. Would love a 4th party version that removes the backpack and audio sounds and fixes the other issues. This release seems too half baked.
Top review mate. It’s not a bad first attempt at a KO, but no doubt THF or IT will so better versions in the next 12-months or so, like they did with Megatron.
I really hope they do and fixed all the problem.

Still glad I got two ko's, not perfect but at least not the insane price of the mp44... which I didn't get out of principle.
Late to the party, didn't even know you had a review on this mofo. I got the first version MP44 KO, and enjoyed it. I even got the fourth version just after it came out (had to cancel my preorder and just buy it a month later because budget), specifically the intended MP49 Black Convoy/Nemesis Prime color scheme (there's also Ultra Magnus, Shattered Glass Optimus, Mode EVA, and eventually they even did regular Optimus). The biggest difference in the fourth version is a substantially modified backpack that removes the electronics and is a flatter profile...but the transformation is absolute nightmare fuel compared to the base MP44.
God Orion's guide is absosmurfinlutely required reading, as certain issues from the first version DO carry over all the way to the fourth (ex.: there's a particular panel in the forearms that needs one section to be filed down so that it can fold properly...the hip ratchets can and WILL fail over time, which apparently plagues MP44, MP49, & MP44S as well). In fact, some of the information is helpful even for the legit MP44!!
And it's funny: much like my MP10V KO, people *RECOGNIZE THIS* as Optimus Prime. I haven't seen this level of recognition with the Hasbro Earthrise mold (I have the Netflix WFC Trilogy version) at all. Wan Xiang needs to hurry up and do the damn MP44 trailer already...that was supposed to have been out a year or two ago!!😮😮😮

Great review. I’m not an alt mode collector nor do I do dynamic posing with my figures, so the ab crunch and knee issues don’t really affect me much, however it really does seem like there are too many issues with this figure. I would like a more G1 inspired look to go with my Megatron but for now I will just stick with my old MP-10.

The second release, with blue eyes and yellow wrists is substantially better.

Why do you always make videos that disparage Takara?
Although KO pretends to be of excellent quality,
When you actually get it, you can see that it is cheaply made.
Why are you mad, you don't even watch my videos. Literally the first half of this video is fixing all the faults with the KO and complaining how cheaply made it is.
And these issues right here are the reason I will always prefer TE-01 over this over complicated, overpriced monstrosity!
TE-01 is my main Prime as well ^_^
