Getting the American and European consumer to accept the change in visuals and touch based concepts. I can see two types of vehicles in the future. Vehicles designed for exclusively close (100 mile radius) and travel vehicles that can reasonably be used in town and for long distance traveling. Unless families live close together, there will be a need for a high volume (6 to 8) passenger compartment with storage in a separate area of the vehicle. that may be 50 years from now, or it may be a much shorter time frame. What will make the difference is what the consumer will accept easily

I guess they are hand building them

I keep seeing videos stating the price is only $21,000…yet I find nothing from Canoo confirming that price. Instead I keep seeing $35,000 to near $50,000 for one of these. If the price was $21,000…they wouldn’t be able to build these fast enough to keep up with demand.

Love the design and I hope the company becomes big one day. I’d buy the truck but here’s what I’d change:
    - make it a 4 seater (It has a snub nose design so why does the driver sit so far back?
    - make it have as close to 300 miles in range as possible
    - hopefully it has 1 pedal driving
    - better looking screens on the interior. I’m a fan of a large iPad like screen/ infotainment system.
I do like the steering wheel and the fact they are drive by wire.

As with most EV startups, one has to be skeptical of the odds that they will ever deliver a vehicle. However, the idea of an actual utility pickup for local jobs which can be configured only with the bare bones requirements for delivering materials locally really appeals to me. This kind of utility plus a comfortable and fuel-efficient ICE sedan could cover my needs and dramatically reduce overall total vehicle + fuel costs for me.

i'll believe it when i drive one. i may like it, or may not. the looks are nice and simple (i'm a bling-free-zone kind of person) but i really don't care what it looks like, just like i really don't care what people think about me because of what i drive. funds follow function. does it perform? do all those little doors not just snap off at the slightest bump?, do the bells and whistles actually bring something useful to the day to day, or do they just add weight and complexity? can i get a stripped down super light version that i build out myself? i need to see more than just adds. this has been going on now for years.

If it is ever built i sure some people will buy it , but like other comments , it sounds like a typical start up it has been many years since advertised and no production models , the still pic on TH-cam says $21,000 yet it video they say starting at $39,000 & NASA & army biggest clients , compared to whom ? If they are the only clients so far are they each purchased 2 trucks that would make them the biggest client at only 2 truck ( you need to give numbers to prove they are serious clients ) again I hope it does make it to market looks like a great vehicle , but very few new electric vehicle start up, ever seem to make it to the production stage for the public

I love this concept and would not hesitate purchasing one if I could get it with a "gas range extender". After owning several BMW i3s, I can say without a doubt that the serial hybrid is a level of versatility that would take me anywhere I want to be such as camping deep in the pucker brush. I also desire the ability to use the gas generator as an external AC power supply, it would give me the unlimited portability I want from a truck or van. The Ford Lightening was supposed to deliver on this feature but was far from a cost effective option for me. This leaves a huge market for the utilitarian kind of guys like me. With this capability, it would be the only vehicle I would ever want or need. I would love to see the Mazda rotary range extender used. It's compact, light weight, smooth operation would be the dream setup for me. Best of Luck with your endeavors! :)

I’m thinking that the battery replacement costs are more than the price of the truck. I like the style and the idea but they need to lower the battery replacement. If it cost $22,000 for the truck and $30,000 to $50,000 to replace the batteries, then you end up paying up to $100,000 or more.

They both use the same Panasonic 3680 battery, and the van looks like a sketch for a Tesla minivan concept I saw. Canoo could use a mentor in this arena, and I think that a partnership between the two companies would be greatly beneficial for the end consumers. Canoo has some great ideas going on as well as good I.P. I would love to see them win, not to mention own one of the quirky and unique little vehicles.
    See you on the trails...
