Excellent project and clearly shown! Bit worried about the technique of letting the right end of the calipers touch the rotating wood though at 7.22 and 15.10! I can foresee a nasty accident happening there for the unwary!

Trioler, thank you for your videos. I have to say you exhibit the greatest control skills over your gouges of any wood turner I have seen. I especially like seeing you use the forged spindle gouge. I sent a link of this video to Mike Waldt and he likes your turnings too and he subscribed. Would you tell me who manufactured your spindle gouges and the sizes? I am going to have to invest in a German to English dictionary, I really want to understand your descriptions. Please keep turning and posting your shared skills are truly appreciated.

i notice that all the turning videos i watch, the craftsman uses CA glue instead of wood glue. can you explain? Thanks
you don't have to wait 5 hours for it to dry like wood glue. 10 seconds later you can get back to work on project. And it fills cracks with sawdust wonderfully too, on turnings that is.

what's that jell that you rubbed it with
It appears to be a mix of paste wax and mineral oil. Many turners use such a mix to keep sanding dust down. It also puts a beautiful shine on at the same time.

Rezept für ein lösemittelhaltiges ölfreies Wachsbalsam:
1 Teil Carnaubawachs
2 Teile Bienenwachs
6 Teile Balsam-Terpentin
Zuerst die Wachse unter Erwärmung auf etwa 120 Grad schmelzen.
Schmelztiegel von der Wärmequelle entfernen, kein offenes
Feuer in der Nähe! Dann Balsam-Terpentin einrühren.
Achtung: Balsam-Terpentin ist leicht entzündlich, von Wärmequellen
und offenem Feuer fernhalten! Wegen dieser Gefahr sollte nur
derjenige damit experimentieren, der das Fachwissen hat und die
entsprechenden Sicherheitsvorschriften kennt.
Anwendung: Mit Lappen dünn aufreiben. Nach 30-60 Minuten polierbar.
Kann aber auch beliebig später poliert werden. Es kann ein hoher
Glanzgrad erzielt werden. Das Holz sollte zuvor mit Öl
tiefenimprägniert sein, ein Oberflächenwachs schützt sehr
schlecht vor Eindringen von Wasser.

Wenn ich schon Höre Balsam-Terpentin ist leicht enzündlich dann weiß ich was ich nicht nehme. Nimm doch eiwach nur ein Öl was nicht schlecht wirt und gut is.
