    This seems to be one of your older videos I have not seen until now. I am impressed with your wood turning abilities. The box is beautiful and has a shape pleasing to the eye. All I can say is OUTSTANDING!!!! It is also nice to see how you have progressed from the time you made this video to the ones you are doing two years later. The quality of videos have improved tremendously and your wood turning has always been nice. You have come along way since then and something to be really proud of, young man!!!!!! I wish we were neighbors since an old dog like me could learn a lot about wood turning from a younger fellow who seems to have much talent. Keep those wood shavings flying.🤗

    My father bought a lathe when I was in high school unfortunately I dont have a chuck that goes on the headstock so I'm stuck watching people make these beautiful boxes and bowls for the time being. Though poppers style fishing lures, pipe tampers, and tobacco pipes can keep me entertained until I get a chuck. Thanks for showing your technical knowledge to us beginners!

    • @CraftWithAfshin
      @CraftWithAfshin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats awesome that you still have the lathe hopefuly soon when you get the chuck you'l be able to expand what you can make and it will be fun :) but thanks for watching my videos i really i appreciate it.

    How do you keep your shop so clean when you sand. Mine has dust EVERYWHERE

    • @CraftWithAfshin
      @CraftWithAfshin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate i have dust extractor below the lathe, but one thing you could do which i think is better is to use mineral oil on ur sandpaper and just sand with that, u just wipe it off after couple passes plus you will sand alot better that normal. i do that off camera but when i show it on video i do it without oil to save time.

    Very nice box. I like the shape. May I suggest you move the camera to an overhead shot. That way we can see some of the tool work too.

    • @CraftWithAfshin
      @CraftWithAfshin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Glen, yes my lathe was in awkard position at that time now i have built a arm that can be moved to any position, please check my recent videos the are much better quality :)

    Looks great, Afshin!
    One of these days when I can afford shipping international, I'll send you a box of woods only found here in the states. Red Cedar, Cottonwood, Bois D'arc, and maybe some Post Oak.

    • @CraftWithAfshin
      @CraftWithAfshin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jeff, I appreciate it mate and excited too never turned those woods!

    • @jeffbaum9852
      @jeffbaum9852 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      CraftWithAfshin You would love Red Cedar. it presents some challenges, but the finished product is beautiful. Bois D'arc, let's just says, keep your sharpening tools next to you. it's worth the trouble though, brilliant yellow and orange colors.

    • @CraftWithAfshin
      @CraftWithAfshin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup i was just searching them on google they are beautiful!

    • @CraftWithAfshin
      @CraftWithAfshin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      especially Bois D'arc and cottonwood never seen them at my local wood suppliers, in my opinion wood turning is more popular in USA than UK due to vast amount of type of wood available.

    • @CraftWithAfshin
      @CraftWithAfshin  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      also Red Cedar looks like purple heart doesn't it? I got a Blank of purpleheart which i actually going to turn in an hour my first time turning it so i cant wait! but it wont be uploaded today because Im going to do abit of carving on the bowl and use milliput on it so i have to let it dry for a day or 2.

    great box ,,. but not a great idea to have a sharp point,, a dome would have been safer , maybe if its a lady friend a faux gem insert,,. Regards Alf

      @CraftWithAfshin  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi Alf yes it would be safer your right but i always try different shapes and design in doing so i can find the one i like otherwise if i always do same old design its never going to look good. thanks for watching mate.
