Me too! There's also a transparent black 2DS which I believe only came out in Japan. It's not a limited edition (I don't think) but looks amazing when turned on.

Would be cool if we got aftermarket shells like this for 2DS. The 2DS is understandably laughed at but it's the most comfortable way to play 3DS games imo
I agree and disagree. It’s nice to make it available to people, but then it can be faked.
@@TheRetroFuture The same can be said for gameboy shells. I personally don't care if a shell is official or not if it looks and feels good and the most diehard collectors will insist on boxed examples anyway.
@@TheRetroFuture hopefully a reputable company does so and stamps their logo or something of it somewhere to discern from fakes.
@@TheRetroFuture Yeah, that's the bane as sellers at Ebay and AliExpress could pass off refurbished 2DSes as a limited edition model using third party cases.
That being said it's a real pain in the rear to find a replacement housing for these things.
@@TheRetroFuture same case for game boy. Recently there are replacement shells and lenses for the game boy light, especially clear ones for the famitsu f-02 game boy light. One can reshell a regular game boy light with a clear shell and Famitsu F-02 glass lens and sell it for a hell of a premium, claiming it as if it is an actual famitsu game boy light. It's a double edged sword, really.
The mew piece of paper was for a Japan exclusive Mew for the VC version that you could transfer through the Pokémon Bank app.
The form factor of the 2DS would have been perfect for a DMG/Atomic Purple special edition.

Tried for hours to get those codes to work. Turned out I was putting them into the wrong box, the thing is in Japanese so I didn’t know lol. Tried them again in the right box and they were still used. Spent silly money on a sealed unused code which will arrive soon. I wanted to wait to show you that in this video but due to brand obligations I had to get this video out :(.

There is a hack that makes Blue rom looks like Pokémon Green, with the different pixel art and changes of that version. It's almost the same experience, highly recommended. Works with flash carts, like randomized hacks, with no issues.

man i wish Nintendo had made a translucent 2/3 DS in the theme of the Pokemon Crystal Cartridge. Imagine that !! I would have paid them all money i have AND my Soul
I would have bought that so damn fast because Crystal was the first Pokémon game I bought myself with money I had saved up. The first gen I first played with the games my two older siblings had but our parents thought I wouldn't need my own and could just share with them.
Fun fact: there were actually two runs of the translucent red and blue 2DSs, before the pokemon red and blue ones nintendo also did ones with omega ruby and alpha sapphire, but unlike these ones the ABXY buttons are gray instead of the Super Famicom colours
Huh. I got one of the Omega Ruby ones on Ebay years ago, and at first I wondered if the seller may have been wrong and it was the Red version, and that the face buttons were greyed out bc it was a US version, not JP

I can't believe that the gameboy games were so far ahead of their time, they even included 2DS and 3DS systems in the packaging!
I'd love to see the custom shell scene take off for the 2ds. It would really be nice to spruce up a basic colored 2ds. They sell custom shells for basically everything else.....Why not a 2ds?
A year late, but I’m with you! I got a 2DS recently and was really excited to buy colored buttons and shells to spice it out,
only to realize that people barely sell replacement pieces for the system online 😅

this is my episode. when i went to japan in 2017 i was able to get one of this. it's just so beautiful, i love transparent shells and this one is amazing.
You got me into Sendico, I bought red blue and yellow a while back, gotta grab green soon and 3D print custom stands for them
I bought this console when it came out (I love green), a friend of mine got it when he went to Japan but he forgot it on his aunt house!! I had to wait ONE YEAR for another oportunity to get the console to my country, it was worth the wait :)
Transparent plastics need to come back.

I've wanted a Pokemon Green 2DS since the day I learned about them, but I can't justify the money for it. So cool to see one unboxed like this. Sucks that you had so many issues with the codes though!
I got the same green 2DS when it came out in 2016. It came with green version pre installed. You could also take it to a Pokemon centre and an employee would trade you a mew for a pidgey. The mew code that came with the unit is for the modern games. (Might have been XY ORAS at the time?)

I've recently been collecting the Japanese Pokémon Games and picked up the Japanese versions of Diamond, Pearl and Platinum on eBay for about £80 cib. Definitely worth picking up 😊

You can get USB to 3DS/2DS charger cables for fairly cheap online, if you need something to charge with in the future.

A real shame that there's next to no aftermarket shells for the 2DS.
They have gotta start making shells for the rest of the older consoles first imho

the buttons on the ds are meant represent the diffenet games that where made. green being leaf green, red being fire red, yellow being yellow and blue being blue

I had to turn my new Super Mario Bros 2 Gold edition 3DS into a normal metallic blue one because the face plates were cracking. 😢
I see 2DS, I click. That it is a Retrofuture video is even greater. I recently purchased Super Mario 64 DS a couple months ago, and I play that mostly on my original 2DS for comfort reasons, although I find it looks a little better on my New 2DS XL.

The VC game codes probably have not been used. There is a date you need to redeem them by. The date should be on the card itself :)

I bought a used omega ruby 2ds a couple years ago for $60 and I’m so glad I did! It’s so comfy and I couldn’t imagine not having it in my collection since I have 90% red consoles.

I got one of these on launch:) the 2ds is my favorite form factor
Honestly the 2ds is the most comfortable ds I've ever used and I love it! The only improvements I want to it would be a slightly larger screen, maybe something like the laminated screens we get in some of the RG351 devices and a bigger battery, other than that I went to my 2ds every time over my 3ds's I just liked it more. I love the design. I got mine in that crimson translucent and it's gorgeous! Still play pokemon moon on it :D

Now i have pokemon green on my 3ds in proper English and it's not version you saw in eBay the interface is different plus i have alternative versions of red and blue and blue is been as 3rd version

i am still a bit sad i didnt pick up a set of these when they where new! i bought the american 2ds and both e-shop games but i didnt get the cool japanese versions, i might have to try sendico and see if i can find some! lovely 2ds too! i really dig the green
