How easy exactly is sendico to use? Perhaps a silly idea, just getting started and i am finding that...actually finding projects to restore proves quite hard

If I knew it wasn't bad for the plastic I would say bleach it LOL
I am slowly working out how to do the Sendico thing, thing is its not very cost effective for me say for one watch and think I need to do some working out as spotted three Alba V600's plus an Aeromatic "porcupine" six canteen crowned divers watch which is a grail but when you add up the 500 yen commission per item, 500 yen per postage that is quite a lot of yen before I even pay for the items :S It does have a LOT of really rare Seiko, Citizen and Alba pieces which you just can't find in the UK so will have to watch and learn as must be getting it wrong somewhere.

Fun fact : black blobs instead of chips on the main board mean that it's a late revision board / Game Boy
That should be a given since the original version had ICs and then the Play It Loud series came out several years later. There were some early NES cartridges that were black blobs because they were pumping out the games for Christmas 1985 and ran out of ROM chips, its the same reason why there are some adapters to Famicom boards.

Idk honestly, the grossest cleaning is restoring something thats been where house roaches have infested. The smell and what they leave behind is incredibly hard to clean off of things.

Yeah this thing is NOTHING compared to electronics I have received over the years. Literal mold, spilled food inside, roaches, etc.
Yup. All this Gameboy had was old dirt and probaly dried sweat from use. A cockroach infested system is another story 🤮

I've cleaned controllers that were dirty like this. I just put the empty shells in the top rack of the dishwasher, and they come out sparkly clean. No scrubbing needed.
Right when he started scrubbing the parts in the sink, a toothbrush commercial came on and I almost threw up.

Someone on Facebook marketplace is selling this same one for $30 but it doesn’t read games. Definitely want to snatch it up but I need to stop spending money 😫

These things are mostly indestructible, I bet you could clean it with some rubbing alcohol and get it right as rain.
Worst case, you can definitely flip it for more than $30

You have to mod a Original GameBoy to play GBA games. I think that would be really cool to see. It would also be cool to see you try to implement the shoulder buttons on the OG GameBoy. I would LOVE to see this!

And for my final comment for the video, that is not an early board. The Play it Loud started in 1995, 6 years after the og came out. That is actually the last version of motherboard for the DMG Gameboy.
When I was a kid I thought I only needed to take out the batteries to wash the game boy 😅
You know, instead of installing a backlight on a Game Boy, you could peel the reflective layer off of the back of the screen and replace it with retroceflective material.
The background music while you’re cleaning and putting it together was a banger.

Elliot that was a very satisfying clean up indeed well done. Love the look of the OG play it loud. What hand held is your most favorite to work on? out of DMG GBP, GBC and GBA? Mine is probably the pocket just cus its so small and easy to work on.
That old entei sticker was sending some serious nostalgia vibes. I can only imagine decades ago somebody playing through 1st and 2nd gen pokemon without color and still training their team up to be A1!

So nice to see the transformation. I’ve really always liked the yellow (same with the orange GBA), it’s such a pleasing color.
I found an original Gameboy (US version) at a sale for $25 USD, just opened and cleaned it this past week. In summary, the shell is worn smooth in the button areas and back panel (I assume someone played with dirty or greasy hands), the painted decals for the buttons were gone, there was dust and critter shells on the inside, the button contacts on the board were black, the speaker filthy, the plastic buttons worn smooth, grease and dirt on the silicone pads, the D Pad silicone was worn through, and the buttons would not play. After cleaning, the buttons worked and the sound was crisp. Thanks for the video!

I love these restorations. Too many things get chucked for so reason. A kid cousin of mine tossed out their Gameboy Micro because it was grimy. What a loss.
I love to see these really grimy ones go from the absolute worst to like new again, it's so satisfying. I like to imagine the kid out there that owned this - well, adult now - would be happy to see it still alive and kicking.
I like how the drain pop-up in your sink is a simple touch control and not one of those stupid levers like we have here in the US.
Now that was satisfying to watch.
One of the dirtiest things I've cleaned was the inside of a Sega SF-7000 for a repair video on my channel. That was fun.
A testament to how well these were built! So very used, so very dirty and yet still working.

Hey Elliot.
I‘ve been watching your videos for a few weeks now and I guess they are one of the main reasons why I am now about to restore my first Game Boy Color which I just got from ebay.
There are still so many questions in my zead but one of them seems to be very simple: Is the concentration of the IPA important so that it matters if I use 70% instead of 99.9% isopropyl alcohol? Which one of those do you use for your restorations? Are there any issues concerning damage of the materials?

I've had even dirtier GameBoy on my table. 😂 But as Santiago said, it's sooo statisfying cleaning them. Not to mention retrobrighting.
I'm just glad that horizontal line dissapeared fast, otherwise it wpuld take much more work to fix that or even new screen.
I have 5 GameBoys from Sendico in similar condition, so I'm ready for the next lockdown.

Hey, I have a tip for you.
If the plastic around the buttons looks worn from use on plastics, you can remove that if you take a magic eraser and gently go in an x shape around the spot a few times. Then once it looks good, go in a circle motion to finish it up.
But again don't be too rough with the sponge, be gentle. Don't have to be too gentle, but gentle enough to not ruin the plastic.
Then, there's that one Japanese guy this GB belonged to whose pissed that you've removed all the stickers and dirt he's spent years accumulating.
I like the fact that he did not replace the shell so the console can show its age. Very fine unit you have there. Very nice. 😊
