    These videos must be the most comprehensive maintenance Land Rover 300tdi guides on the internet. That reflect real life problems that come along when you are working on them.

    I hope that you dont forget to take the fly-wheel timing pin out before you turn the engine to settle the belt down Mike. We have all done it (LOL). Because I'm a bit rough with my hands, I find that it helps me to put some soft wood wedges between the case and the pulleys to hold the belt in place while I faf about getting the teeth on the belt all lined-up and tighten up the tensioner. Great video. stay happy, Yorkshire Rob..

      I used to have problems getting the belt back on until I worked out the method of taking the roller off - worst job I ever had was putting a Subaru belt on - needed 16 hands for that one!

    Good tip about using an old toothed pulley to put the oil seal on.

      Glad it helped - edit - note I had a washer on the end as you do no want to damage the seal with the teeth

    Love this - thanks for posting this! So while I like your double crank pulley tool for tapping in the seal, what should the rest of us be using for that? Just the old pulley?

    Hi thank you for the grate video. I changed the belt following it without problems. I only have one problem: Here in MALAWI the specal key to hold the crank shaft pulley in place while tightening the screw is not available. I tried to build a tool but only reached 80 Nm .Do you know a trick how to block the motor without the tool to tighten it the remaining 90°? Thanks and regards from Malawi

    Great videos Mike. Just wondering what type of grease you are using on the crank seal as it looks blue in colour 🤔

    Mike, have you ever heard of or seen any types of timing chain or gear conversions for the TDI engine? That case could be made pretty oil proof, I'd be surprised if it hadn't been tried by someone, but I've not seen it.

      Zeus Engineering did a gear kit back in the day but I have not seen one

    Mike. What about the alternator too ? Has it been upgraded to a higher voltage thingy and is it still bloody charging ! V.

    Mike, is it required to replace the crank gear? The one in my kit is square on the back. If the one ont he engine is rounded and correct, can I reuse?

    Do you use original Land Rover pulley? Or use britpart or other brand? Regards!

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  ปีที่แล้ว

      I always use INA brand timing belt pulleys - these were the original manufactures

    Hi Mike, I have a problem and I have disassembled the camshaft pulley by removing the 3 screws, how can I put it back in the original place? I made the mistake of not having read that the manual says that you have to remove only the central screw and not the 3 screws as I have done. I hope you can please help me because I can't find any information about this. Thank you very much

    • @BritannicaRestorations
      @BritannicaRestorations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cam itself will have one bolt holding on a disc which has 3 bolts on a pulley - you cannot get this wrong

      @@BritannicaRestorations thanks for your reply Mike, you’re amazing. This afternoon will try that. I got scared when I read in the manual that the 3 screws could not be removed and I did not know how to put it back in its initial position.
      Thanks for all.
