Lovely to watch this motor come together, Mike.
Very satisfying to watch a capable and knowledgeable pair of hands at work.
Glad you enjoyed it
I found this really helpful. It was also useful to see all around a clean engine. Thanks Mike.
Very welcome
SO NICE TO SEE THE JOB DONE RIGHT. A REAL PLESURE TO WATCH YOU MIKE. YORKSHIRE ROB.

💂
Thanks, will do!
such a great video , thanks for all the tips. How did you get the engine components and block looking so clean? It looks brand new!
Steam cleaner, sand blaster and vapour honing machine - and a lot of time!
The amount off 300 tdi engines that have overnight timing belts in the world when they don't need to be prob premature wear on them I've had a few in and there was 0 movement in the belt great vid Mike donny
Yes 11Nm does not seem much !
Hi Mike really informative thank you, one question though is this the same procedure for the 200 TDI engines as well ? Keep up the great work my friend
Similar - depends on if it is a Defender or Discovery - the timing pins are the same
I’m soon to be having a new belt on a 300 tdi.. should I be taking it steady for a while or just drive it normally straight away?…
Hi Mike, What's the difference between a non and EDC flywheel locking pin please?
Don't know -- never seen an EDC engine
Hi Mike! Amazing job, looks brand new. look, what if some not so trusted mechanic did the Timing of the diesel pump on the second slot of the flywheel. would it be possible? We have a 300tdi that since it came from this mechanic has all kinds of problems, sounds very rough, does not have power no matter how much smoke it makes, and if you road it, it gets hot. Please tell me what you think! You're the best! 🫡
It would not start on the second notch I would have thought - 90 degrees out - sounds like the belt is off a tooth
@@BritannicaRestorations thank you for your answer Mike! Amazing how many people you've helped to this day! I guess I'm going to do it myself! Best regards from Portugal!
Mike - can you provide a link to where you got the hose kit from?

Do you have a trick for fitting the camshaft oil seal ? I'm sure you have mentioned that they are a problem before?
I seem to have mislaid that video - I will do an explanation today
Did you ever find the footage of camshaft oil seal fitting? Did you say you had a special tool for this
J Saville was very warped ' guys and girls '
You seem to have an indepth knowledge of someone warped! 🤔
when you put the new seal in the timing cover which way? from the bacK? Im fighting oone here and can't keep it square from either side. grease it? tx.
Do you mean the outer cover or the inner/oil pump
The outer cover. @@BritannicaRestorations
There are 2 styles of 300 Tdi timing cover, one has a shoulder in it and should be fitted from the inside - the other is parallel
Usually no problem fitting
Thanks Mike, this is straight through and only the back has a surface to use as a datum to press against. did you do a video about that seal?
@@BritannicaRestorations
Any quick tips for removing that crank nut please. Engine is out of the car.
I have a 1-inch drive air gun - If you cannot lock the flywheel, then it's sump off and block the crank with a lump of wood
@@BritannicaRestorations trying to take it off. looks like a crank locking tool is in order.
How many Nm you have set the tensioner ?
11
Nice job. Tight as a g-string!
Thank you kindly!
