      It is absolutely infuriating that SIG first puts out such a poorly designed part, and second, doesn't include a suitable tool.
      I can't find anything suitable around the house, so I'll have to make a special trip to the hardware store to, hopefully, find a tool that will work.
      I sure won't get this done tonight.
      Again, there is no excuse for such poor engineering. Whoever designed this should be fired.

    If anyone has trouble using the allen key method to walk out the locking tab, that exacto blade method is super easy. Use your allen to force space between the 2 parts, and your exacto blade should go almost all the way in right off rip! I just bought a P320 AXG, it was very resistant to change until i did what i just deacribed. Wonderful, informative video. Couldn't have removed this part without your video, kind sir. Thank you very much!

    "[...] people are probably getting mad right now because they've worked at these for half an hour and given up." Spot on! Watching you just repeatedly move that thing around with the allen wrench after I jacked with mine until I broke it and lost the spring in the "rapid unscheduled disassembly" that ensued. Thanks for demonstrating at least that it CAN be done competently.

    Thank you for this video. Just got a Wilson Combat grip for my P365 and was glad it came with the new mag release in the kit so I didn't have to remove the one from the old grip. It wasn't the easiest thing I've had to do but after watching a couple of times I was able to get the button pushed in far enough against the spring to get the keeper in place! Thumb will never be the same!! Hey they're 74 year old thumbs... give me a break! LOL

    SigGuy, your instructional videos are the best on TH-cam. Not only do you explain in detail the how but you also explain in detail the why. I'm the kind of person who can do something so much better if I know the mechanics behind the mechanism. I changed out two of these on my Sig P365, used both methods and both worked flawlessly. Thank you so much for your great videos, they are greatly appreciated!

    Best explanation and video about this. I tried the paper clip, then the allen wrench, then the small punch. A real pain. Then I used a very fine blade tiny flat head screwdriver (I didn't have an exacto knife) and it FINALLY worked. Brand new weapon so everything may have been pretty tight. By the way, you can add SIG P365-380 to the list of what this works on.

  • @MrJedi5150
    @MrJedi5150 4 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Thanks for the video. The easiest "tool", which is officially recommended in the P320 armorer's course, is a paperclip. Another tip that nobody does on youtube (maybe to make filming easier), is to point the "muzzle" of the grip module to the ceiling. Why fight gravity? A couple swipes with a paperclip with the grip pointed skyward and it's out. Nothing could be simpler, and causes no damage to the catch.

    Here's what I found doing this: The allen key method seems easiest and if you have the right size allen key available. I have several allen key kits. All of mine only go down to 1.5, which for me was too big. After trying a paper clip (paper clip bends too much), I gave up on this method and found a hobby knife I use for my 3D printers. It was done in a matter of seconds. It took longer finding the right tool, lol. Thanks for this vid though, quite helpful even though it is 4 years old!

    A P365 user here.
    I couldn't use a Hex Head Allen wrench key to "crank" the Detent Pin out after a few hours of trying. I also couldn't do this with a a smaller and larger paperclip either. I finally had success after a few tries with the Scalpel method. I pushed a sporting knife pretty hard in between the Magazine Release Button and Detent Pin while applying pressure with an Hex Head Allen Wrench Key in the hole shown in the video and used leverage from the knife to push it out. I pulled it out with my fingers after it was protruding out. One thing I really learned from experience is that you MUST hold the magazine release button down the whole time and NEVER let go. It's definitely strenuous for larger hands, and mentally exhausting. but don't give up! Take a break, and come back to it if you must, but keep at it and be mindful of how much pressure you are applying.
    Thanks very much for the help. I will be using your videos for the rest of the modifications I will be doing to my Sig Sauer P365 Freedom.

    This a well done video that clearly walks you though the change. I am right handed and have very small hands, and had to really stretch to reach the right hand mag release. I changed the mag release to a left hand release and it is perfect. Just roll the gun clockwise (which is what you always do to change mags) and it now lines up perfectly with my right finger. This really decreases the time for a mag change. This should work with extra large hands as well.

    could not for the life of me get the punch/paperclip/allen wrench method to work. A combination of a paperclip and the blade made it easy. Sig had so much oil in there the catch was effectively stuck so that combo did the trick...many thanks.

    Thank you so much for a very clear demonstration of how this works. I didn't have the right size Allen or paper clip but discovered a straight pin is perfect. I wanted to swap mine because the magazine gets held in with my palm when trying to use my thumb and I'm more comfortable using my trigger finger on the paddle style release of my USP. Was happy to discover it feels pretty much the same on the P365XL now. Thanks again!

    • @Torqd_Off
      @Torqd_Off 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I switched my mag release to the left side on my P365XL… I’d rather use my trigger finger then my thumb. I find I can do it quicker and easier and it falls free of my palm easier also. I’m thinking the P320 mag release does fit… I measured length and it’s right around 4mm longer. But I’ll bet it’ll go into a 365 frame??? I wish Sig had squared and ridged the 365 lines release like the 320 line. I wouldn’t have had to buy an aftermarket.

    There seems to be a small ledge on the wedge piece of my P365 which allowed me to grab with my fingernail and pull it out while pushing the locking tab with an allen wrench. I tried walking it out with the allen wrench and it wasn't moving at all. Once I pushed the tab it pulled right out.

    Good Video! I just noticed that Armory Craft does not include the Mag Catch Stop (AC calls it the 'wedge') and Spring for my P320 M18 and Wilson Combat WCP320 and Icarus Precision frames. I now need to purchase these seperately....not happy about that! Question: Do I need to purchase the SIG 'OEM' parts in order for everything to work properly or will other aftermarket parts work? (I see some on Wilson Combat site etc.)....

      I have the OEM wedge and spring on my website if you are interested. www.sigguy.com/product-page/sig-sauer-p320-magazine-catch-stop
