I've had the P365 for a couple years. It's had some issues that required it to be sent back to Sig for repairs. I have about 3,000 rounds through it. That being said and I don't like to admit this but I dropped the gun chambered from about 4 feet off the ground in a momentary laps of coordination. It bounced off the tile floor and landed again sliding across the room. It did no fire, so I can confirm that it is indeed drop safe without a safety. Also can confirm that the pucker factor was intense watching it fall in slow motion.
I think if most people who handle guns regularly were forced to admit it, they'd tell you they've done it at least once. We're only human, despite training and regimen and making the right movements...physics happens, our hands aren't perfect tools, and the brain they're controlled by isn't flawless.
I have adhd and I drop everything and I always have to force myself to slow down. Well like I said, I drop everything. It happens to me more than I’d like but that’s why you always need to have a quality firearm.
I have also unfortunately had this happen haha. I had a holster break on my and I was unaware. It went flying out with a round chambered when i jumped. Fall test was a success. And actually didn't mark the gun that much.
I think I would poo a little. Dropping the loaded weapon is something that has never occurred to me until I got a pistol. I got a Ruger 1911 and it has no firing pin block, but a titanium pin so it may or may not be drop safe. It just has never crossed my mind before.
I have dropped a Pistol a time or two, while taking the gun out, or taking the gun and holster off, because I was in the Army and we dropped them things occasionally, because most are hooked with a lanyard to the belt. . Darn lanyard threw off.
When I started concealed carry there weren't a ton of options. Either carry a Glock 19 / 23 or a smaller P3AT / LCP. Today there are lots of options, and I think the P365 XL stands out among them.
I have a Colt Government Pocketlight that is comparable in size but this seriously outclasses that, it is so tiny but feels so big in your hand. Like a glove
The hellcat. That is like the refinement of all these virtues. I have the RDP version. It came down to the 365 xl and the RDP Hellcat, I wanted the comp so I got the hellcat
Bought this gun based on all the positive reviews. Got it home and noticed there was some slide movement in the trigger right before the break. The slide also moved up and down with a click which could be felt when practice drawing the gun. Removed slide and discovered the FCU was loose in the grip module. Called sig and they said this was normal. I decided to do my due diligence and proceeded to visit every gun shop in the Nashville area over the next couple of weeks to test out other p365xl pistols. Out of about 12 pistols I tested I found zero FCU movement. No slide movement in the trigger before the break or slide movement up and down when drawing. There is a forum on the internet of people who have had the same issues as me with the FCU so I know that it is a problem, but no way normal since I couldn't find another pistol with the problem in my area. So I ordered a new grip module from Sig for $76 shipped and swapped the FCU to it. Now there is no more slide movement in the trigger before the break or up and down when drawing. I called Sig and told them about my journey and how I fixed the issue and asked them to send me a replacement grip module for the original defective one and they flat refused and still maintained it is normal. A grip module cost Sig maybe 5 dollars to manufacture and 5 dollars to ship. $10 would have resolved my issue and made me happy and that was too much for Sig. It's a nice gun after I had to drop $76 on it for a new grip but the fact that Sig sold me a defective pistol and then claimed the defect is normal, even though I couldn't find another one in my area with a loose FCU, really has turned me off of Sig. They need to look up the definition of normal. Normal would mean they all have FCU movement. They don't. Which makes it abnormal. Who wants slide movement in the trigger right before the break? It feels gross and the loose FCU made the whole gun feel sloppy. It's fixed now, at my own expense, but Sig has lost a customer for now.
I guess I'm not super shocked. They didn't issue a safety recall on the P320, which had a tendency to go off without pulling the trigger, resulting in quite a few cops taking bullets in the leg. That was a pretty big lawsuit.
I’ve always been a Smith & Wesson guy, and I’m especially found of the M&P series. I’ve been rocking a .9mm Shield for some time now and it’s still my favorite CCW of choice. It’s a fantastic gun! To trust that your weapon is not going to fail you when you may need it the most has got to be one of the single most important factors concerning reliability and trustworthiness in a firearm. Having said that, I got turned off from the P365 early on concerning all the reports of it malfunctioning and so forth! I concluded that there’s no way I’m switching out from using my .9mm Shield, to something that may possess a smaller footprint, but is far less reliable and trustworthy! What good are extra shots, when you’re not even sure if the damn thing will work or not?!!! After reading about your experience as well, and their piss poor Customer Support, I’m only even more resolute to not waste my time with Sig! I’m good right where I am!!
Finally someone who points out that the stats don’t actually tell you how small and concealable the XL is. I have seen a bunch of you tube comparisons just read the stats and conclude that there is little difference between the xl and say a Glock 19/26 or some other thick double stack, because they are reading the thickness stat which includes the flared magwell and safety width. In reality the gun is extremely slim and comfortable to conceal compared to those other guns. I don’t believe in a safety or carry appendix so for me the manual safety isn’t an issue, and if I had to pick one pistol to be stuck with for the rest of my life, this would be it. Its a carry gun that is comfortable to carry, holds enough rounds for a gunfight, is extremely reliable, and I actually enjoy shooting it more than most full size pistols.
Anyone that thinks it's close enough to double stacks that it doesn't matter needs to get their hands on one. It's night and day in person, videos just don't do it justice (but Chris by far did the best job I've seen)
@@bds123087 I’m in the same situation. I’m still debating on switching. Currently, I switch between my G26 and G19 depending on what I’m wearing and like having the ability to use the larger mags in the 26. The 365 xl looks to be a good in between option.
Picked up an XL yesterday. Literally the hardest to load magazines I've ever messed with. I'm sure it will get better after a few rounds of loading and unloading. Other than that I'm pleased with the gun. Can't wait to get some range time with it.
If you aren't using a Lula loader by now, you aren't doing it right. No point in making things harder than they need to be. I use it for everything from .380 single stacks to 10mm & .45 ACP double stacks with everything in between.
I'll be honest, I've re-watched this several times over the years since it premiered and I'm finally gonna bite the bullet and get this gun. Because over the years, it still lands on a lot of reviewers top lists.
It's worth noting that a *HUGE* reason pistol development trended the way it did is between 1994 and 2004 there was a federal limit at 10 round capacity for all new guns and magazines. This got manufacturers and buyers into habits that influenced/echo'd even after the ban was lifted.
Well done Chris. I have to say that I prefer this setting more than the studio. It's far more relaxed. Akin to a nice fire-side chat versus the studio which feels more like a classroom. Always a pleasure. Keep up the good work my friend.
I just got an XL and went to the range with some friends to fire it for the first time. I can confirm that loading the magazines for the first time was challenging, even for my guy friend, and we were only able to load around seven or eight rounds due to the stiff springs. He suggested to load some in the magazine, keep them in there a while, and put some more in after a few days. It helped, and now I am able to load my magazines to full capacity (12 rounds)! Good luck!
As one who personally requires a safety on less-than-7lb triggers, I find the device on my recently acquired P365 just about perfect. I've pocket carried for 20 years, using Kel-Tec micro-9s (the 10rd P11 released in the '90s and the even smaller single-stack PF9 in the 2000s) and snub revolvers. The far more refined P365 with the safety has become my new EDC; it is indeed a delight to shoot!
Hey, BTW, you can also put the slide of the smaller regular sized P365 on top of the P365 XL’s lower grip module because both sized grip modules are the same length. So if you want a bit of a longer hand grip like on the lower regular module on the XL, and just want to use the 12 round flush mount magazines and still be able to get your pinky on it, that is a viable option if you don’t want the longer slide. I have heard from people who have shot both sizes, that the longer size of the XL didn’t really provide any more accuracy or control over the shorter barrel and slide size of the regular P365, Which if that’s the case, and because the regular P365 handles and shoots great and is quite controllable and shoots in credibly straight already, in this case, the smaller the better for conceal carry! I have a 2nd GEN P365 and I have put at least 5000+ rounds through it now with zero malfunctions. Let me repeat that, ZERO malfunctions! I have put several different types of ammo through it without a problem. It shoots super straight and super great consistently. Unless I had to, I would not use the 10 round flush mount mags ever because it’s always better in my opinion if you can get your pinky on the grip. Also, because the 10 round magazine that has a pinky grip on it is like a 16th of an inch smaller than the 12 round magazine with built-in pinky grip, I wouldn’t waste my time purchasing any of those 10 round pinky grip magazines either. I would just buy a handful of 12 rounders and the bigger 15 rounders. The 15 round magazine can really stick out and print for conceal carry so I carry mine with a 12 round magazine in the gun and a 15 round magazine using a neo-mag magnetic clip inside my jeans pocket. After shooting the Glock 26, 43, 42(380), and the shield, I would take the P365 any day over all of those! Oh and one more thing, I have pretty thick fingers but not super long and I must say being able to comfortably grip the P365 is just as easy as the Glock 42 or 43 and way better than the chunky chopped down 2 x4 of glock 26. And if you have larger hands and longer fingers and the 43 and 42 are just too difficult to comfortably hold onto and shoot, check out Lakeside I think it’s gun works. That guy actually makes an all aluminum lower grip module for the P365 with swollen grip sidewalls! So there ya go! In my humble opinion! Thanks for the great vid! Sorry for the long quarantine post. Ha! 😬👍🏼
I something similar. I had a P365, and added a P365X. My carry gun is now the P365X with a Holosun RDS but I swapped lowers with the P365. Extending the P365 lower with a 12-round magazine yields more comfort than the P365X lower. Also, if I really need to cut down size, I can just put in a 10-round or even flush-fit 10.
I just bought the XL (with Safety), it's in delivery/shipment now to my FFL Dealer. I chose the option with Manuel safety due to deep woods hiking, Backpacking, brush & rock maneuvering, etc. It was a big debate for me. Yes a quality Kydex or leather holster is a must. For me it was just in case of that twig branch, or something out of the ordinary occuring touching off the trigger. So for woods it can be with safety engaged and urban carry with safety off...yet always training to sweep my safety.
Chris - This just may be the best video you’ve ever produced - so THANK YOU - and that says a GREAT deal. There’s only one reason I wish you hadn’t produced it: I’ve been struggling with the idea of buying a P365-XL for about a year - it has EVERY attribute I favor and I have always found Sig autoloaders to be excellent - but I really don’t need another “3.5 inch barrel class” 9x19mm/.40 S&W (fwiw, I have intentionally avoided the “3.1 inch barrel class” because I want the extra sight radius, heft, and often capacity). Your highly favorable endorsement drives me a long step closer to a ~$800 expenditure (including additional mags and a holster) . . . damn it. Thanks, again, this is a SUPERB video!
The overall quiet, thorough, intelligent sobriety of your manner, which is also clearly not first and foremost "intended to be all about you," makes your videos a pleasure to watch, and I know the time will always be well spent. Thank you for that level of quality.
Great review. I always admire gun reviewers who don't throw a tantrum everytime they see a thumb safety. I think safeties are a training issue and can become second nature. I mean have you ever seen an IPSC shooter who forgot to disengage his safety?
The 365xl is amazing. There's no way to *describe* the tactile experience and the RMR Romeo is a total game changer. I love mine and retired my beloved Shield.
I used to watch and watch this video for the past two years trying to decide if I should purchase this gun. Now that I own it, I keep coming back to this video because I just love this gun and hearing others talk about it.❤️❤️
The XL is a great gun to shoot. I love mine. I've had it for about 5 months now and have managed to put close to 500 rounds through it. No problems or hiccups to speak of. It's a small gun that "shoots like" a bigger gun. My only problem now is finding more of my preferred carry ammo. I can't find any of the 150 grain federal HSTs anywhere ☹️
This type of gun doesn't need an external safety. If you're super paranoid about reholstering... take the holster off, put the gun in the holster, put the holster on.
Man, when I first saw your videos, "5 years with the m&p9c," I thought who is this hipster telling me about concealed carry? 4 years later and you guys are my favorite channel doing relatable reviews using common drills from the concealed carry perspective. Excellent sound, video, and content. Keep it up luckygunner team!
I really liked the HK P9, except for the roller-delayed blow-back system which frequently wore the buffer out. I like the thumb safety, so you can chamber the round, cock the hammer/striker, and then block the trigger and the firing pin. This makes the gun safe, and, yet, quite quick to fire, with the flick of a thumb. Most of us, ordinary people, don't get to practice, like gun-obsessed fanatics, so thumb-safety is very useful for infrequent users. I liked the internal hammer, which is more reliable than a striker, and, yet, safe from dirt getting into the mechanism and jamming it. I also liked the thumb-operated cocker/decocker, so you could de-cock it if you realized that you'd over-reacted, and then quickly re-cock it back if a threat re-emerged. I would either have a fixed barrel with a locking block, or a rotating barrel, which should have longer life because of lower impact forces. I prefer guns that are fatal only when aimed at the vital organs. A fatality can get a person into a lot of trouble, so it is best avoided. I believe mere incapacitation suffices for most scenarios; to impair the other person's ability to successfully harm you. One can never rule anything out despite all the precautions, so just the specter of my child somehow managing to get hold of the gun and injuring himself or others is scary. I like powerful cartridges that can travel a long distance, so, if someone is trying to kill you from a distance, you should be able to, at least, incapacitate him, even if the bullet itself is light. Profuse bleeding, itself, is incapacitating. I still like the 0.32ACP, the 0.22LR, and the 5.7X28mm. Somebody shot a guy who manages my estate with a 7.62x25mm Mauser. One shot broke his femur, the other went through his right bicep into his left chest and lodged itself just outside his heart. It had very good penetration, but he, luckily survived.
I like the safety on the shield. Easy to turn off, hard to turn on...i feel confident enough to not use it if i dont want to...but for me it easily comes off with a flick of my thumb...what i dont like about the shield is the slide lock...using the slide lock as a release is almost impossible for my thumb, but then again i just dont use it that way.
I ordered some ammo from Lucky Gunner and not only did I receive multiple emails checking to make sure my purchase was correct but they were all personalized and made me feel like I was dealing with a mom-and-pop company that actually cared about me is customer. I love these videos and will definitely support this company in the future.
Couldn't agree more. My EDC is the P365xl. FIts my hand wonderfully. Easy to shoot. In a vedder holster it works as my appendix every day carry. I love it. Shoots better than I do generally. This is a gun to carry daily. With 12 rounds (I don't feel even the need for the 15 round mag even though I have one) 2 of the 12 rounders are just fine. It replaced my Glock 19. And I haven't looked back.
I don’t usually comment, but just wanted to applaud that description: A compromise gun (as all concealed carry are) that actually doesn’t feel like a compromise. Very good description. 👍🏼
Switched from my Glocks to the 365 for my every day carry with the manual safety recently picked up the XL with manual safety as well I haven’t had any issues with the size or position of the safety all’s you have to do is practice a little bit and you will be fine and if you don’t like it just keep it off not a big deal this is a very nice handgun they did a great job with it and the p365 is incredible as well it’s amazing the amount of rounds you can get in such a tiny gun
Giving those stats was actually really helpful. I have carried the SP2022 for a while (it's basically a P229 but polymer gripped and WAAAAAY cheaper) and didn't really get why the XL would be much better with only a difference of 3 rounds capacity and .2 inches of barrel. It makes a lot more sense now.
The safety in the Shield is perfect for what you need it to be. I train and carry my Shield with the safety on only as a holster the pistol. Once in the holster the safety comes off. When I need to remove the Shield from my holster I engage the safety. To clear the pistol the I remove the mag and then rack the slide to clear the chamber all with the safety engaged. I've even smoothed the under side of the safety to remove the jimping to further reduce the chance that I might engage the safety inadvertently. I bought my first Shield the day they were released. I shoot it regularly and I've never engaged it when I didn't intend to. Great videos. Your
I own a p365 and i love it! Mine came with 3 mags, flush 10 round, pinky 10 round and 12 rounder but i think it’s because I bought the LE version. Absolutely love this gun! Sold my shield performance center and never looked back!
I like you prefer da/sa pistols for safety reasons and the fact I love Hk hammer fired guns. That being said there are really no double action concealed carry guns that are great. Like you my biggest problem with striker fired carry guns is reholstering. I found the solution. I got a p365 with a safety and a black point tactical mini wing iwb holster. Before I holster it I turn on the safety and when it’s secure in the holster because of the mini wings safety cutout I can easily turn off the safety once it’s in the holster. All problems solved
Just picked up the XL, absolutely love this gun. I picked one up with the red dot on it and no safety. Replacing my CZ P07. I wanted something with a decent capacity, but a small enough frame that it was easily conceable. I have a LCP 380 it's meh though. I've also got a CZ RAMI that I sometimes carry, it's a smaller gun but it's metal frame and it's heavy, plus it only holds 10 rounds. The P365 is right at the sweet spot I think. Great Review.
The PPS M2 has been my carry gun for the past 3 years and I wholeheartedly agree, such an underrated gun. But for some reason I was under the impression it was smaller than the P365 XL overall, really cool to see the direct comparison and realize I was wrong. I don't think I'll be switching anytime soon as I don't have a need to, but if something happens to my PPS this definitely makes it the most likely replacement in my book.
Always liked the 1911 safety. It was in the right place and I could place my thumb on the safety. It just felt "right". Maybe someone will make an enlarged safety for this P365.
I agree with your safety concerns for concealed carry. I put on the holster with the gun already inside. If I need to remove it to use the shitter etc, I remove the holster with the gun inside. I don't quick draw and re-holster the loaded gun. I practice drawing with it unloaded or for live fire, pick it up from a table and shoot it. I almost never remove and re-insert the loaded P365 into my appendix holster while wearing it. I keep a round in the chamber at all times. Thanks for these great videos and keep'm coming!
Thank you for the no nonsense review. I have had my eye on this exact Gun for sometime now and you efficiently addressed some of the questions and concerns that I had about it. I can confidently say that I’ll be purchasing one. I was going back and forth between the smaller piece and the XL and I’ll be going with the XL. Thanks again for the great review and content as it’s very much appreciated.
I have been carrying the P-365 XL since Christmas and I love the gun it is the perfect size and capacity for me and I have pretty big hands I was carrying the m&p shield and have carried snub nosed j-frames and many others I just can’t believe how good I can shoot this little gun.
16:58 coming from Da/sa guns, I can absolutely relate. Love that rolling break vs the wall. Really helps on 25 yard b8s, just ride the bull, and you can fly through it up close, when needed. Looking forward to the red dot reviews.
On the contrary of how you feel, I quite like the size and location of the safety. It's sleek enough to not print or rub on my skin while carrying IWB, yet large enough to manipulate.
I bought a p365xl in gun metal grey 2 days ago and I'm really injoying it. Coming from a glock 48 to the p365xl was a game changer for me. I can actually hit the mag release and slide lock with my baby man hands.
There is only one pistol for me and it is a Kimber Ultra carry in 45 ACP. I really don’t see why anyone would want more than 8 rounds of ammo in a carry pistol. It is a tool to help, save your life and give you a path to safety and not used in a firefight. A 1911 has been used in more conflicts and fought in more wars than anything on the market today. It is a proven combat self defense weapon. Keep your plastic toys I will stick with what I carried in the service from 1971 to when the 9mm came into service. I retired shorty after but did quality Expert with it. I really enjoy your show and keep up the good work.
I have the P365XL with the manual safety. I have the safety on while holstering. Once it's secured in the holster, I knock the safety off. I have a Vedder with great retention that completely covers the trigger guard and allows for a full firing grip prior to unholstering.
Thanks for the review Chris. The P365 XL is my current carry (no manual safety 😁). I absolutely love it! I replaced the Romeo Zero RDS with the Holosun 507k and have no regrets. I also got a Hogue grip sleeve for added comfort and grip purchase.
I just purchased the XMACRO and had seen numerous people putting all the above lights on the same gun! But with no real reasoning. Great video! Appreciate! 1913 it is PEWPEW
I haven't gotten an XL yet, but I have carried the p365 with the extended magazine and I ... Would not call it a "compromise" pistol. There really isn't anything I would call a compromise. (I kind of hate that because I still think sa/da is the safest way to an every day pistol regardless. But the 365 has me slowly losing my religion). It isn't a large-sized service pistol that has been chopped. It isn't a pocket pistol that has been forced to accept 9mm. I would just about go so far as to say the design will be seen as presenting a new era of standard service pistol.
I agree with everything except the service pistol. It's still a small gun and personally I still shoot a full size handgun better, I think it is the largest innovation in concealed carry handguns in the last few years.
Bill Angell agreed. I’ve been carrying the P365 (not the XL) for a couple years now. Before that, I was carrying a P938 for sub-compact deep concealment; but, that is a single stack 7+ 1 (with the extended mag) hammer fired SAO. For service size, when I can easily conceal, I run either my H&K VP9LE or my Sig P220 SAS SAO Carry in .45 ACP.
@@billangell6478 I can see your side, but... Also the question, what does a service pistol require? I have a lot of trigger Time with the Polish P64, and makarovs, as well as PPs. I also used a 1911 in uniform. I understand the American thing about a service pistol being really large. but I also understand the idea of having the capability in a package small enough to not be a negative impact on gear.
*Commented before finishing* Might I suggest you pick up a regular P365 frame and swap it to the XL slide. They make 12 rd mags for the smaller frame. This allows you to use 10rd mags, 10rd mags with pinky extension, 12rd mags and 15rd mags. Plus its a tad less likely to print.
Not enough good is being said about the safety on the Ruger Security-9. If you want a manual safety this is the one. Easy off, not easy on to engage when not wanted. Wide enough to rest on, not obtrusive. Everyone understated the amazing qualities of this pistol. That design, those features, 15+1 (17+1 available) and almost half the price of a glock? Thanks Ruger! You really nailed it!
This comment amuses me because I literally pulled out my Security-9 and started playing with the safety when he was talking the safety on the XL. You're absolutely correct, the safety is a perfect balance of easy-off harder-on (assuming you're not a lefty of course.) I have to actively try to bumblefuck deactivating the safety, it's so effortless when in a shooting grip, but not because the detent feels too weak to prevent an accidental deactivation. It just fits my hand perfectly, the exactly the right size and position. On the other side of the coin, I have to actively shift AWAY from my shooting grip and make a conscious effort to reactivate the safety. Again the detent doesn't feel too stiff or anything, they just did some kind of perfect voodoo to make it require the right moves. They nailed quite a few things on the Security-9, especially for the price. I was at a gun store looking at an SR-9 because I borrowed one from a friend and liked it quite a bit, then the salesman said "before you make your decision you might also be interested in this other thing that just came out from Ruger." I've never had a pistol drop into my hand and feel instantly perfect like that. I went home with the Security-9 that day instead, and I've never regretted that decision for a second.
I carry the 365xl every day. What a great defensive carry firearm. I just bought a regular 365 and look forward to shooting it. Figured I'd carry it in a pocket holster. SIG has set a new standard here in 9mm carry guns IMHO.
That's true, but I really like his approach because even though he likes the gun a lot, he does not shy away from pointing out its shortcomings. That helps me make purchase decisions based on what is important to me. I don't like reviews that are all positive or all negative.
@@thirdactwarrior317 Yeah Chris Baker is maybe the most mature and thoughtful gun guy on the interwebs. No tats, no faux tactical persona, no ego - just useful information and well-reasoned opinions.
Yes and yet this is pretty accurate to my experience. however I think is insistence on the group safety is a little bit screwy. I see no real advantage other than round count to the XL model. Oh I think correction and a slide cut. I would definitely prefer the standard 365 pistol with the cut for the optic. That is really the just right gun. But the XL is a dang sweet shooter. Really everything about it is just about perfect. The shape is good. The looks are good. The sights are good The capacity is about right, and having a backup bag with extendo.... It's a Goldilocks gun. it's kind of amazing to me that it's an easier gun to shoot well than the full size sig 226. With spicy ammo I can maybe shoot and m9 style pistol slightly better, but due to bore access and grip shape not a lot better.
I can actually conceal carry the P320 X Carry really well but damn is it way easier and more comfortable to carry the XL. 5 less rounds but I also carry an extra 15 rounder.
Great video I bought one of these yesterday so far all I can say is I have normal hand size, I'm old with a crooked trigger finger and this gun fits me like a glove. I'm one happy camper can't wait to get to the range.
This is my EDC. I bought it as soon as I could get it with the Safety. I completely agree with you on wanting a safety in a striker gun. It's my favorite handgun in a long time. I'm waiting on aftermarket for a better safety lever. It's a super easy change.
I took my 365 ...put xl grip on it and upgraded trigger with M Carbo spring kit- veteran own company! ...12 round in less than 2 sec ...! A beast also added a hogue grip to absorb some recoil !
My department just finished a test and evaluation for a department-issued duty weapon. We tested the Sig P320 (full size and compact) and the Glock (models 45 and 19). We also tested the Sig 365XL and the Glock 48. To be brutally honest with you, you really aren't gaining anything with carrying the full-sized pistols versus the new designs in hyper compact pistols like the XL and 48. Particularly when you use the aftermarket accessories to duplicate the full capacity of the compact model 19 or 320C. The 365XL and the Glock 48 are actually decent choices for ultra-lightweight duty weapons. Same capacity, nearly the same barrel length (technically the XL has a slightly longer barrel than the P320C) and sight radius. The only drawback is the slightly more pronounced recoil impulse. But, of the two, I liked the recoil management on the XL versus the model 48.
@@jambajoby32 I would. The trigger on the XL is also significantly better than in the 320 series. I own a Glock 43 that I really like, easy to shoot and carry. But, if I had to get another one, I'd get the 365XL, no doubt.
I held the g43x, g48, hellcat, 320c…went with the xl. I have 1 more permit to fill and being in a mag restricted state the 10 round limit has me looking at the g48. I shoot left and bought the g19 gen 4 when it came out so the gen 5 being ambi is why I might purchase it again. I wish the g48 came out ambi because it feels so nice but the 365xl is flat out amazing!
you Sir are like the Linus (from Linus Tech Tips) of the gun related youtube channels, the performance chart, the comparison of guns by overlaying them on top one another using different colors to make the dimensions difference stand out, the language you incorporate, all stellar content , big kudos to you!
I've got one now- LOVE IT, replaced a RUGER LC9s as carry gun. Its not nearly as snappy, more capacity, night sties standard, etc, super accurate. Only complaint (if I had to try hard to find a problem is a little glock type sponginess in trigger, but not bad.
Just put a down payment on one as a 21st birthday gift for me. I have put 100rds or so through the 365SAS and while it is interesting, I wasn’t a huge fan of the short grip, even though I managed a 7in group at 30yds with the weird sight set up. I handled a 365XL at a gun store and I fell in love with how it fit my hand. Thanks to all the informative reviews on it I am sure this is a great fit for me. I can always trust Lucky Gunner to have informative videos on both ammunition and firearms, always a go to source for me.
Your stamens in this video lead my to this question: how has reviewing firearms changed your perspective on shooting as a whole? Do you like more? does it seem more of a chore at times?
That's a good question. A lot of times, it really does feel like a chore. I think it's like that for everyone in the gun media profession at some point. I'm not complaining... it's an amazing job and I love doing it. But it's still a job and every job has moments (or days or weeks or months) where it's hard to get too excited about the work you have in front of you. A day on the range is almost always a good day (as good as the weather, anyway), but it's definitely not always what I would call "fun." If I have the chance to go to the range and pick my own agenda, I'm most likely going to get out the timer and put in serious practice time. Getting better at the skill of shooting is what I enjoy the most. That hasn't changed since I started the job. Sometimes that in itself feels like work. It's like that with the serious pursuit of any skill, though. What has changed since doing this for a living is the fact that it takes a *whole lot* for me to get even remotely interested in the latest greatest new gun/accessory/whatever on the market. Honestly, I was never really much of a "chase the new shiny" person before, but now even less so. I am fortunate that I have the luxury to more or less pick the topics I want to do videos on. One of the reasons I end up exploring a lot of somewhat obscure topics (shotguns, pocket pistols, revolvers, etc) is because I get to learn new things and explore ideas that aren't necessarily mainstream. That's way more interesting to me than doing one new gun review after another.
That's what is so unique about your channel and why I clicked the little bell a long time ago. Watching new gun video after new gun video does get boring as a viewer and I need more thought provoking content. You do a great job for inquiring gunners. Thanks, keep it up.
Lucky Gunner Ammo Thanks a lot. This is why TH-cam is a lot more interesting the tv I get to ask you real questions and shoot the sh*t with awesome people (like yourself) who like the same thing and can really teach something I am passionate about. Thanks again.
@@danielsmith4090 exactly. Hearing the philosophy and purpose behind a certain idea from a mostly unbiased standpoint or one who atleast announces their bias helps in understanding the reasons and how something might even be advantageous to me. This channel has made me stop and think about my own opinions about what's right and wrong a few times.
The XL is my edc pistol. Mounted a Streamlight and even with that it is easily concealable. I second pretty much everything in the review, except mine does not have a manual safety so no comment on that. I've put about 2K rounds through it, one failure to eject on the very first time at the range. None since. Thank you for an excellent video of this firearm.
A excellent video on the Sig P365 XL more rounds than a small Glock guns and comes with night sights and 3 12 rounds 9 mm magazines not that much more money 😊💯👍
Thanks for the review. This is one of the best channels for no-frills, straight dope on firearms and training, and I appreciate it. I'm really on the fence between this and the glock 48. The glock feels familiar, but better in a way that only a single stack gun can, while the SIG is so petite it feels like a toy.
Price is better with the G48 even after buying two S15 magazines (which is a must), and no stupid safety, so the Glock wins this one handily, in my opinion.
I have both the XL and G48. I thought I would like the XL better, but I do not. The G48 is an outstanding pistol. I do not use the Shield S15 mags in my G48, so the XL has better capacity in my case, and it is still a very good shooter. Tough choice. I would choose my G48 if I had to pick only one.
Grip angle of Glock is why I went with sig... I like the original p365 and pocket carry it every day because I’ve got all the mag options with it (10,12,15).
It's been over a year. STILL Carrying it?? I just 'discovered' this exact pistol, myself. I am perplexed on how it can be compact, yet shoot like a full-sized gun. That trite expression "game changer" comes to mind.
stah Pit. Good idea. I nearly shot myself several years ago reholstering a XD 9 when my cover garment got into the trigger guard. I’m alert now to the danger.
You are the best on the internet. No joke. Your reviews and recommendations are intelligent and well presented. Keep up the good work. Also, I have the X and XL, both with TS which I like very much. But the safety position in the Sig has a lot to do with the fire control unit and how it's designed.
I had been carrying a p10c but it's just to bulky for warm weather and started looking at single stacks. Found and shot this near the beginning of the year and finally picked one up. Have to say it's perfect for me. Shoots like a p10c/g19 but it carries like a single stack plus it comes with all the features I was going to add. Night sights/ optic cut and magwell. All I changed always a mcarbo spring kit and I'm in love.
I like that they put a manual safety on it, even though the tactical operator run your gun guys dont like it. Really reassuring for appendix carry. I bet Glock is missing out ona substantial market by not having safety models. They put a safety on their mhs submission, might as well put it in other models
your gun must be tactical!! it has to only be a glock!! and it has to run! gun run! your not bringing a manual safety non glock to my $5000 class!- a tactical operator guy somewhere
@@Coinz8 reminds me of the people who think the only legitimate configuration for an AR-15 is Armageddon Bugout Rifle For the Inevitable Collapse of Civilization As We Know It. If you dare add any excess weight or features that would be useful for the 99.9999% of the time AR's spend as range, hunting and home defense tools, you're a total fool and "you're just going to die tired because ounces are pounds and pounds are pain!"
had my 365 with the manual safety for 6 months and I will say it is the best small easily concealable firearm I've carried or shot. The manual safety is small, but it is very good, it is exactly what I expected it to be, does not interfere with ccw, is not obtrusive in any way.
The production quality, graphic comparisons, and thorough research is much appreciated. Your videos are top notch
That's why i subscribed months ago and he is one of the best imo.
U gotta appreciate those details
I was literally thinking the exact same thing as I came across this comment. 👍
Subscribed for this exact reason. No ego at all which is extremely rare in the gun community. Just great content.
It came down to the 365 xl and the RDP Hellcat,
I wanted the comp so I got the hellcat
@@very7962 Now Sig is back on top with the P365 XL Spectre Comp.
I agree with your reasoning on a safety on ccw. No one ever complains about the safety on a AR.
Just put a down payment on one I will definitely be checking this at the shop on Friday. Thank you for sharing this experience.
I guess I'm not super shocked. They didn't issue a safety recall on the P320, which had a tendency to go off without pulling the trigger, resulting in quite a few cops taking bullets in the leg. That was a pretty big lawsuit.
@@anonymouslee2083 Glock Leg!
Had this happen at a range I was , guy accused me of limp wristing until I literally showed him the whole thing is moving around
Best EDC on the market..hands down..I carry mine literally 365
You can conceal the XL if you were wearing a jacket or coat plus you have longer range with the xl than reg size p365
Redmist 2004 I can conceal the g19 in a t shirt and jeans. Slightly loose clothes are the way to go for concealment
Well said I just picked up one a few days ago and it's by far my favorite
The P365XL is a phenomenal pistol. Thank you for the outstanding review.
Yes it is🦾🦾🦾🦾
The 365xl retired my glock 27 , i absolutely love it too. Mine is saftey free tho 🥰
You can get one without a safety
Yes.
My finger is my safety 👍
I’ve carried a Glock 26 for years I think it might be Time to upgrade and get this xl
I use the 3 original mags that I got with my 365XL. 2/12rnd 1/15rnd.
I use the Uplula Mag loader to load the mags due to arthritis.
Yes. Very hard to load. I'm not sure it gets better. Uplula Mag loader works great
I had this problem with my original P365. It was so bad that I ended up getting an UPLULA reloader. Huge difference.
I recommend the speed beez loader. Game changer.
Ha! 😬👍🏼
Yeah it called the hybrid p365. I like that you have the option to do that. Gives you the excuse to by both. Lol
Well said!
The P365XL is my favorite pistol honestly

Great review. I always admire gun reviewers who don't throw a tantrum everytime they see a thumb safety. I think safeties are a training issue and can become second nature. I mean have you ever seen an IPSC shooter who forgot to disengage his safety?
*The p365/p365XL have proven to be HUGELY popular with shooters because they're such great firearms.*
The HST MICRO is awesome. I saw the test data. I don't carry a 9mm but that is the ammo I would carry if I did.
This type of gun doesn't need an external safety. If you're super paranoid about reholstering... take the holster off, put the gun in the holster, put the holster on.
This gun was revolutionary for my personal protection system. Love it.
Finally somebody made a video about this under-the-radar, sleeper pistol that nobody seems to have heard about.
Please tell me that was sarcasm because I truly believe that is what you were going for but most people will not realize it.

You mean only the most talked-about carry pistol for the last 2 years?
For the clueless: yes, this is what we refer to as "sarcasm."

It’s my edc...best on the market IMO. Carry it with 12 plus one and a 15 round back up mag....I literally carry it 365...excellent review as usual
Your clarity and your graphics are outstanding. Thanks.
I don’t usually comment, but just wanted to applaud that description:
A compromise gun (as all concealed carry are) that actually doesn’t feel like a compromise.
Very good description. 👍🏼
I love your reviews, so much. You are so thorough. It's just a joy to get information from you. Thanks for the great review.
I use the manual safety on my 365 for reholstering, then click it off once it’s in, and so when I draw it’s already off
My EDC is the p365 and I love it.
This is the best gun review video I've ever watched. Concise, quick, thorough.
Effing perfect.
I have to say that there are a lot of shill's doing gun reviews on youtube, but I honestly believe Chris Baker is a straight shooter!
I had too many rounds today, said no one ever.
Wow. All my questions answered.thanks for the " no B.S" video review . Great job as always ........
I have the P365XL with the manual safety. I have the safety on while holstering. Once it's secured in the holster, I knock the safety off. I have a Vedder with great retention that completely covers the trigger guard and allows for a full firing grip prior to unholstering.
yep, people don't realize the safety can be used for those or storage situtations and left off when holstered
Chris you almost had me talked into a striker fired pistol 🤔😊
Chris, the thinking man's gun analyst!
Made in new Hampshire, u.s.a! Gotta love sig Sauer. Especially being originally from NH, they provide a LOT of jobs there.
Putting up a new factory too... gotta get ready for when they replace the m4
Man really good detailed review. Gretat use of the overlays.
*Commented before finishing*
Might I suggest you pick up a regular P365 frame and swap it to the XL slide. They make 12 rd mags for the smaller frame. This allows you to use 10rd mags, 10rd mags with pinky extension, 12rd mags and 15rd mags. Plus its a tad less likely to print.
Might swap it w my sas if that’s doable
We love reviews that reaffirm what we already believe.
I went from a standard P365 to a hybrid with the standard frame and the longer slide/better sights/option for an optic.
What an amazing shooter
That’s great! Would you own on as a part of your personal collection? (The XL?)
I have the sas and want to get the XL as well
@@jambajoby32 I would.
A day on the range is almost always a good day (as good as the weather, anyway), but it's definitely not always what I would call "fun."
If I have the chance to go to the range and pick my own agenda, I'm most likely going to get out the timer and put in serious practice time.
Try taking a regular P365 and putting the P365 XL grip shell on it. It’s like a mini G19X
A excellent video on the Sig P365 XL more rounds than a small Glock guns and comes with night sights and 3 12 rounds 9 mm magazines not that much more money 😊💯👍
Thanks for another fine review. Your work is on a whole other level vs many others 👍❤️🇺🇸
production quality is A++
Thanks for the review.
I really like the way you talk about guns. And I appreciate your respect for hammer fired and safetys
As always a very professional and technical video.
- But with personal, subjective insight, as well.
Grip angle of Glock is why I went with sig... I like the original p365 and pocket carry it every day because I’ve got all the mag options with it (10,12,15).
The grip angle on a Glock, just does NOT work for me.
The safety on the Ruger ec9s is perfect.
Agreed, my lc9s safety feels top notch. Perfect balance of click and feel.
Idk dude, glock safeties are hard to beat.
Thanks. Just got 1000 rounds of 9mm from y’all got here in 2 days. Great job. I do have the 365 xl and 2 of the 365 pistols.
These videos are as underrated as the Walther.
It's been over a year. STILL Carrying it?? I just 'discovered' this exact pistol, myself. I am perplexed on how it can be compact, yet shoot like a full-sized gun. That trite expression "game changer" comes to mind.
I went from the LCP to the P365. I'll admit I'm always extra cautious when holstering a striker fired.
stah Pit.
He called the packed mag a “clown car”! I love it🤣🤣🤣
I’d call it a Mexican Honda Civic. Big enough for 6 but seats 12
But that would be like admitting that the Glock Safe Action is not "Perfection."
your gun must be tactical!! it has to only be a glock!! and it has to run! gun run! your not bringing a manual safety non glock to my $5000 class!- a tactical operator guy somewhere
I love how easy the p365 fits in the pocket, so convenient and comfortable
Kahr Arms, established 1995 had the single stack first? " Why hold a block, when you could shoot a Kahr?
had my 365 with the manual safety for 6 months and I will say it is the best small easily concealable firearm I've carried or shot. The manual safety is small, but it is very good, it is exactly what I expected it to be, does not interfere with ccw, is not obtrusive in any way.
Yes Sig, please kick back a bit from the $50 mags and put some R&D into making the American EDC lifeblood safer
Please don’t stop what you are doing.
I really enjoy your videos and all the ammo information.
Thank you.
