      I get why they do that, but it’s really not helping them at all. lol. I feel like they’ve proven to the community that they’re a legit factual based channel that has no bias or allegiance to one tool brand. I get they don’t like to accept anything from brands so the viewer doesn’t think they’re being bribed or giving a bought review. But if you watch the video and if you have a functioning brain, it’s pretty obvious and quick to point out, no matter the tool they’re reviewing, it’s all objective, and the only subjective parts is how it feels and some features just like how it is. But even usually subjective topics they make it objective. lol. Idk. It’s not like brands won’t work with them or give them stipulations if they send a tool for a review. As long as they tell the brand that they only do honest reviews. If it sucks, it sucks. If it’s good, it’s good. LTT has done this for the longest time. If it’s a PAID video, then they clearly state the video is a PAID OVERVIEW, they never call paid videos a review.

    I pre-ordered this tool as soon as I saw it break free 650ft-lbs on Pro Tool Reviews w/Tim Johnson. Incredible power, and I think it will likely relegate my M18 2962 mid-torque to the sidelines. That said, I'm hugely skeptical of the new mode selection method. I don't think that function needed to be reinvented, and it now requires additional steps to simply change mode. We'll see how I feel about it once I've got the tool and have spent time with it. Incredible performance, though.

    Absolutely crazy. I’ve been wanting to get away from the m18 line altogether because of the battery prices. As you may guess, the m18 stuff is a bit overkill for a small woodworking business lol. My only hang up was because of my midtorque I use for my family’s fleet. If this gun can realistically replace the m18, I have some tools to sell lol. I figured the old gen would’ve had some trouble with suspension parts or it’d already be done.

    Milwaukee has consistently produced some serious impact wrenches over the past 5 or so years. Not surprised this new offering is performing like a champ. However I wonder if it may be too powerful for many Stubby applications. Not a big fan of the trigger mode selection. I have to think a cost-cutting measure to integrate it into the trigger rather than separate button selectors for each mode.

    The part where you have to switch it into neutral is illuminating. That said, it still seems like a questionable design decision. If the forward/reverse selector works the way it does in most tools, it seems the programming of the mode selector is such that it switches the mode after two quick pulls of the trigger so long as no signal to run the motor is received. Which probably means the contacts that power the mode selector are getting lit up on every single trigger pull and are right at the edge of it. Reliability seems like a concern compared to something more simplistic. Even if it isn't a cause for concern, and even though it's only 4 modes, having to switch modes linearly strikes me in the same way a videogame where you have tons of weapons and only have a Y or triangle button to cycle through them. And as someone who wears Shokz headphones, sequential tapping to utilize functions is not a process I've come to enjoy. It honestly seems like switching to neutral and pressing once to switch modes would be the more volatile yet preferable option.

    • @tmuka
      @tmuka หลายเดือนก่อน

      that direction switch is a 3 way switch, with a "locked/middle" state in-between forward and reverse, so you could happily switch intentionally between forward/reverse without mistakenly changing modes. the issue in the video is if he accidentally switched into the locked middle position and unknowingly changed modes.

    • @orijimi
      @orijimi หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tmuka I was well aware. Yes, you can accidentally switch modes when it's in neutral by tapping it twice. I'm just saying that the switch is most likely physically laid out in such a way that you are actually sending the signal to the controller to switch the mode every time you pull the trigger, no matter the position of the forward/neutral/reverse switch. I hypothesize that it's only when the controller receives two discrete "mode switch" signals in quick succession and no signal to run the motor that the logic proceeds with an actual mode switch.
      Furthermore: Even though the double tap of the trigger is there, no doubt, to cut down accidental mode switching while the tool is in the neutral position, I think that people would ultimately prefer that there wasn't that layer of protection there and it was instead nothing more than a single trigger pull at that point to switch a mode.

    • @onikwa
      @onikwa หลายเดือนก่อน

      Uh, pretty much every single tool that uses a digital mode select has a linear cycle

    • @orijimi
      @orijimi หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@onikwa Plenty do it with a physical multi-position switch. And for the ones that don't, they use a single button press and aren't renting space from the trigger. Don't get me wrong, it's not the end of the world or anything. I'm just speaking to the cumulative effect this has as a minor annoyance. For instance, for me, the mode switch on the M12 installation driver eventually drove me to the point of getting the DeWalt 12v installation driver and selling the M12 off for a pittance.

    • @tmuka
      @tmuka หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@orijimii guess we'll find out once this is in the wild. I assume the double tap is to try to prevent accidental switching modes during transport. Hopefully they protect against battery drain if the trigger is held in neutral. I can't imagine physical switch wear on the logic board is a concern any more than repetitive trigger use on fasteners...

      With as much power as this new M12 Stubby puts out, it renders the 2962 mid-torque nearly irrelevant. IMO, the best combo would be to have this new M12 Stubby and the new M18 high-torque. That will allow you to remove anything from small to big with two tools. I have the 2962 mid-torque and just pre-ordered this new M12 Stubby. After it arrives, I don't see my mid-torque getting used very much, since it appears the Stubby can now do pretty much anything the M18 mid-torque can.

      I have to ask what battery you are using. If it is the 1.5Ah, then yes, you will find more with your issues. If you are using a 2.0 and above, it generally does well.

    Main reason I left the m12 line years ago was the economics are awful and the batteries are worse yet. It's a great tool but definitely has some much needed improvements to get me to switch back from my dewalt 12 and 20v compact impacts

    WorkshopAddict... No disrespect to you. It's weird that you have this new impact because when I asked Milwaukee where I can buy it because every website I looked on said it was on backorder, Milwaukee told me they will not be available until some time in September 2024. When I asked if they have an Affiliate Program Milwaukee also told me they do NOT send free tools to TH-camrs to review yet here you are and there are several other channels that say in their video that Milwaukee sent them this tool or that tool. With that being said I asked them who is lying about it then, the TH-camr that says Milwaukee sent them the tool or you (meaning Milwaukee). They wouldn't answer that. That says an awful lot about Milwaukee as a company. Why would Milwaukee say they do NOT send free tools to TH-camrs to review when clearly they do. I mean they do realize the we as TH-camrs have to let our viewers know if a company sent us a free tool to do a review video on, right? All I originally asked Milwaukee is do they have an Affiliate Program. They should have said they are not taking anymore Affiliates at this time or something along those lines. But why lie about it? I told Milwaukee that I was keeping the email so I can prove what they said, I haven't heard back from them.

      The same company that owns rigid. They are just weird about this crap. The new rigid progear multi storage was sent out to influencers like a year in advance before it hit shelves. Why wait a whole freaking year to make money. I get doing a demo in house 4 months in advance, but it’s crazy how they let influencers have it for months at a time.

      I just pre-ordered this tool, but I am really on the fence about the new mode selection technique. Frankly, I'd rather have the button on the top like before. It has never been problematic for me, and the new method requires additional steps to simply change the mode. Seems like they may have reinvented something that didn't need it.
