    Welcome to Clementine's ride in North Yorkshire, more precisely, to Goathland, which was the main location for the filming of the 1960's based Police drama, called Heartbeat.
    Goathland was turned into the fictional village of Aidensfield.
    My wife and I are massive Heartbeat fans, and watch the repeated series over and over. It is aired on ITV3, usually at around 6pm. Great music, motorcycles and other vehicles of the 60's.
    The weather was not as forecasted, so we are riding in misty drizzle, which makes visibility through the visor, rather difficult, so I am having to ride with the visor open, this unfortunately plays havoc with the harmonics within the helmet. The result is, that my voice overpowers the exhaust, but there is nothing I can do about that, sorry.
    Despite the audio (and the weather), I hope you enjoy this ride, and the photo's at the end.
    Thanks for watching.

    Morning Ian, in spite of the weather that was a marvellous ride for me. Another one of my coach tour regular haunts. Heartbeat was always a favourite of ours, partly because it was so similar to my old job down here in the Staffordshire Moorlands - and yes, I had a couple of Claude Jeremiah type individuals to keep an eye on! 😅 I used to come into Goathland/Aidensfield past Greengrass's farm with the coach when I visited with my lovely clients from Whitby. I feel a Yorkshire trip coming on! 😃 Thanks again for this one anyway Ian.....oh, and that perishing GoPro has been retired! 👍😎

    Morning Ian, nice tour even if a bit damp , We were up Skipton on Saturday, couldn't see much of the hills because of all the mist hanging around, nice run out through. I vaguely remember an episode of Heartbeat with a couple of old hot rodded cars in it , my brother was chuffed as he had a ford Anglia with a flame paint job on it in the past!
    Great pictures of Clemetine against the shops and Garage 👌
    Cheers Mel 😆

    Throughly enjoyed that. Was a huge fan of Heartbeat, back in the day. Have visited 3 times. Arrived on the steam train on first visit, and had a pint in the pub.
    Then on 2nd visit, they were filming, so I managed to get photo with Mark Jordon….aka PC Bellamy. He was super nice.😊

    Nice one, great tour of Heartbeat country. Last time I went to Goathland it was raining as well!, I must return in the near future on a motorcycle and do the tour. I loved the earlier Heartbeats but then lost interest after Vernon Scripps character was written out. Geoffrey Hughes was a great actor.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good afternoon Donna. It’s funny, but as we watch episodes now, having been there, the producers were very good at hiding things they didn’t want us to see / wouldn’t fit in with the era. Clementine was spattered with mud, so she had to have a wash when we returned home. The sump guard is on the to do list, it will be in black, but there are too many other things higher up the list, like van service and new battery 🙈😂

  • @chrisweeks6973
    @chrisweeks6973 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That's an interesting ride, Ian; many thanks for braving the vagaries of the British weather! The Met Office acknowledges 60% accuracy, which means they're wrong 40% of the time!
    We have Heartbeat on (again) here in Oz; still with Mike Berry, so probably around 1996 productions. The series has been started numerous times, but has never been run to its conclusion. For me, as for many, it's nice to see the characters and scenery, hear the period music and see the vehicles. Takes us back to the day.

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Chris. Ann and I still think the original with Nick were the best. A good few years ago, itv3 aired just the 2nd half, I emailed them to say we were bored with it, any chance of buying the rights to the rest of it, then not long after, they did and it has been on a constant loop ever since. There was some seriously bad acting back in the early episodes 😂. That woman who was in love with the bloke who came back from Oz 🙈🤔😂. As for the weather, we are down in Cheshire visiting family, and arranged to have the van serviced yesterday, as it was forecasted to be peeing down (heavy rain), all day. Well, it bloody didn’t, dry roads after initially drizzling. 🤬. I hope to be taking at least one bike out for demo tomorrow (Thursday), forecast is ok, but you watch……….😂

      @chrisweeks6973 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ianhughesroyalenfield Agreed about Nick, though Jason Durr on his Beeza was ok, too. Yes, some of the early acting was definitely sus, but that's true in most long-running series. Good luck with the weather for the test - and remember that Murphy was an optimist! 😉

    Thank you so much ! , I've very much enjoyed your video, I spent much of my youth on those very roads! Starting with a Lambretta, in 1967 rolling up to a Z1, in 1975, and finally on a Bandit 1200 in 2000. My main story here was a trip from Bridington to Rosedale / Whitby and back , on a 175 Bantam one February in the snow in 1976, absolutely freezing!! Still, the main part of the tale is the kindness of Yorkshire folk _ it was so cold , a lovely lady from Rosedale made me a cup of coffee after catching me in the phonebox trying to get warm.Sadly, the only bike I still have from that bunch is the Bandit, but I'm seriously getting fired up for a RE 350 Reborn..then I'll be back up to Gods Own Country. I'm wondering if the 350 will get up Rosedale Chimney?????

    • @ianhughesroyalenfield
      @ianhughesroyalenfield  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much for the compliment, much appreciated. I have just Googled Rosedale Chimney, yes I would think the little 350 will thump its way up, though it won’t be at any great speed, and probably in first gear 😂. If you scroll the first few minutes of this link th-cam.com/video/O9j0cxmRITQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=pF_7Yjr-bViYmKMh it is a seriously steep incline, which Clementine went up without issue. Lovely memory about the Bantam in Winter, I like stories like that. I had a 1200 Bandit for a while. Bought it new, and had a dream machine paint job in “Franki Chilli” Alstare Corona Colours. Everywhere I parked up, people got their camera’s out. I modded it quite a bit, but ruined the handling. After pulling a wheelie, while power sliding out of a corner, ending up on the wrong side of the road, I sold it. Fear of losing my life, not just my license 😂Thanks again.

      @@ianhughesroyalenfield Wahh !! Power sliding a B12 !! I bet that caused a big skid mark! I've still got mine (1999 mk1) but it's a bit heavy now for a 71 year old. Also still got a Z1000J 1982 which I bought new! PLUS a Gpz900r A1 that I've just given to my son. I'm not bragging, I cant bring myself to let them go, toooooo many memories of great times. But I seriously want a 350, come April I think I'll be at the dealers. The Gpz gap in the garage will create the space!! The North York Moors is my favourite place, although I live in the Midlands now, I can still taste the air in Yorkshire,. By the way of stories of NYM, _ I also had a big skidnmark moment, whilst steaming past Fylingdales on a GS750, a sheep decided to cross infront of me at around 80mph, my mate behind us claimed I kissed it on the lips, but I didn't have my wellies with me otherwise I might have stopped!!!

      Thanks Mike. Tbh as I don’t usually go out in the rain, I haven’t much experience with these type of products…..but due to the unpredictable weather we encounter nowadays, I will have a look. Cheers 👍

      Thank you Donna. That’s the only thing while out on a ride, you just don’t know how good it is going to turn out, until we rest home and I start editing. I really expected there to be more wind noise, and less exhaust note, so I was quite happy in the end.
