Glad to see this company come out with what looks like a winner. More competition the better. Your not alone win giving this a positive review, but I found your review the most detailed. Thanks!
@@AutomateYourLife I really wish I had held off on the roborock qrevo last thanksgiving now after seeing your review. Unless you can start trading these vacuums in like smart phones, I feel like I am stuck with this for at least 3 years
An "in-depth" review beyond anyone's expectations. Great job, Brian. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just have you stop by once a month for some light vacuuming?
Great review! I have the Freo X Ultra and I love it. This one might be worth getting as well, I have several robot vacuums in my collection. One of the other comments mentioned Roomba. Irobot is really behind the times, even with their newest model the 10 max. It doesn't use LIDAR for navigation but is still using VSLAM and the mop pad doesn't vibrate or spin. Companies such as Narwal, Roborock, Ecovacs, Eufy and Dreametech have gotten so far ahead of them.
This is the first time I've owned a Narwal and so far it's been great. Your review definitely got me miles ahead on getting started. I realized I didn't map the entire house and I'm trying to remap everything but so far haven't figured that out. If you have any tips, I'd love to hear it. I thought I could just delete what I've mapped but if so I haven't figured it out. I'm about to unpair and pair again unless there is an easier way to do that.
Great deep review. That`s every test should look like. I see Narwal is killing Roomba on their domestic US market. In UE there are quite good competition such as Dreame, Roborock, Ecovacs, Xiaomi and others. Narwal is also avaialble but it hasn`t got that recognition as mentioned above. I hope Narwal will expand into UE because the Vacuum robots are awesome.
This thing navigates better than a Tesla on autopilot. 😂 At one point I thought it was going to telescope out legs and climb up the stairs. lol Great review Brian as always. If it wasn't for my dog's refusal to learn where to make potty, I would be tempted. You didn't mention that if you break up with the vacuum, you don't have to pay alimony!
You know Hans...your pup's potty location might not matter. I didn't test it that way, but they were pretty clear on the claim that it would fully avoid that brown stuff. Maybe not the yellow stuff...but I think it could handle that and not be SO gross. But yes, you do have alimony payments after ;)
Nice job as always, Brian! It looks like a nice unit. I'm wondering about that little "dry" bin...you showed a little cereal in it, but what about pet hair or carpets that shed? Isn't that going to fill it up quickly? Is there some sort of alert about that? Also, does it automatically recognize carpeted areas from bare floors within a room? Does it raise the mops for carpeted areas? Oh, and finally, can you put your own cleaner in the soap cartridge. Yep, I understand about warranty issues, etc., but can you do it an will it work? Oh, your new home looks great! I'm sure you're thrilled with it.
Hey Hugh! So the little dry bin gets sucked up into the main unit every so often. You can set it to do it everytime, or you can set it to be automatically emptied whenever it needs to be. There's a few options, so yep it'll fill up fairly quick but then it's pulled into the bigger base station. The unit totally recognizes all the different flooring types. It switches modes as it needs to. As for the soap, nope. That one's a required, unless you find something else that fits the attachment and space. :)
What did you do Brian? Have you wasted maple syrup for a test?!? Sacrilege !!! 😅 This review is really complete and makes me want to buy this robot vacuum.
Only thing you didn't mention, is if it cleans the floors thoroughly? Does it leave water spots or streaks? This is important, especially with dark floors. My present robot leaves streaks and I have to go back once in a while to hand clean the floors...
It doesn't leave streaks. I've seen a few small spots where there's extra water to dry, but that's going to be a natural part of any floor right? It cleans thoroughly. That should be clear from some of the big demos!
@@AutomateYourLife I have hard wood floors that are a bit irregular, naturally. My biggest gripe is my robot doesn't get down to the surface of each plank bcs some have raise and irregular edges, leaving portions uncleaned. Hopefully this one does with the added pressure
Thanks for the video, does Narwal claim this vac in moping mode with the amount of water it puts into the mops safe for engineered flooring that is not vinyl or waterproof?
After it vacuums a room does it go around the edge of the room to not mess up the "pattern" it created while vacuuming? I have s roborock s7 Max v but it's about to need to be replaced. I hate when it makes such nice lines only to have them ruined by driving right down the middle across all of them when it finishes. Maybe I'm too picky. GREAT REVIEW AND TEST! What do you think of better, this or the roborock Qrevo curve? Thank you Sir!
I'm not sure about the Curve! Sounds about the same as when I did the comparison between the S8 MaxV Ultra and the Freo X Ultra. One will be better at vacuuming and one will be better at mopping (Narwal)
@@AutomateYourLife The thumbs down is for the robot...not for your fast response! Still a great review and still good to know. Thank you for the information and amazing review!!
It’s kinda wild that this is cheaper than the X40 ultra I own, and the obstacle avoidance is leaps and bounds better. It is so hypersensitive and thinks literally a base board in my apartment is a cleaning object… and this thing is like 4 to 500 dollars cheaper than the x40. Don’t get me wrong I love the X40. But if this is narwhals first attempt at that they are doing it way better than the competitors that have been doing it for years now!
Is sunlight an issue on these newer white devices? I have a couple older but not too old small appliances that started out white but are very yellowed now. An extra thing to be aware of when placing/storing our white machines (or ?).
It's hard for me to tell you what it'll look like in a couple years, buuuut...I do have friends who've kept Narwal's now for a few years and I haven't noticed a color change.
Sorry to Bother! but the baseboard attachment... does this come with the model? I can't seem to locate this accessory anywhere and it looks like real bonus!
The unit looks great, but at $1100 with no answer for home assistant integration, it's a pass for me. If I could write automations that detect to clean the house when no one is home, or use its cameras to view the house while I'm out of the house, that's a different story.
Ours just won’t map house correctly … while its mapping it appears to get walls and rooms correct, but then when map finalizes it changes some walls to obstacles creating a giant living room that should be 3 separate rooms. Anyone else having this issue or having hard time with customer service?
@@AutomateYourLife well, it may have been me saying it before, but now seeing that it has hard time getting hard low rugs too while vacuuming. So, what are your thoughts, have you seen any issues? All the reviews I’ve watched hold it up as near perfect, so maybe an app issue or our unit just has a bug.
Wish this and other vacuum reviews would show how they handle actual cat puke. Also, the "not necessary" cutter tool is dubious, especially in a home with 2 long hair adults and a long hair cat. lol?
Hi Brian, what QR code did you scan please? We’ve just had ours delivered and struggling to connect to the wifi and not sure what code we’re meant to scan
In your experience, does the robot lift the mop pads high enough while vacuuming carpet? Did it get any part of the carpet wet? (assuming that you picked 'vacuum and mop' job)
I find that it's in the middle with Narwal. The pads will probably get your carpet a little wet around the edges at times, because it does sometimes drag a bit. However, they aren't putting more water into the pads so it dries up quickly. If you're really picky about that, this isn't the unit for you.
Well this video didn't age well. (Sad that it is only 23 hours old)... Roborock Curve model make this look like me hype up stone age weapons when the competition is selling atomic bombs.
There's some good features there for sure and I'd love to test one out. But the last time I put their two latest releases head to head, Narwal more than held its own! Could be interesting to see those two compared!

What are the stains remover, floor maintainer and heavy duty detergent? Where to install them on the robot? Thanks.
Those go in the base station, just next or in some cases where the current cleaner is. It's an easy swap
