    Hi, off topic. We talked in the past about google home minis and how they would react to tv advertisements for said google home minis. I just wanted you to know about our families latest interaction with the google technology.
    My wife started to mention that her voice sounded different, but we, her family couldn’t hear a change. A little later the google mini’s stopped reacting to her voice commands and when asked to identify the voice it replied that she should create a voice profile.
    Jump forward a few months and she discovered a lump in her neck. Subsequent tests showed a very large B cell cancer leading from her tongue to her jaw and down into her neck. The cancer is stage 2 and she is receiving the best treatment. The Specialist is very confident in her recovery
    I think you may know my question, is it possible that the google mini detected changes in my wife’s voice long before her family did. I am asking you this question because I know you have some content with google techs. Could this help someone else?

      Wow...I think you might have caught on to something. It could absolutely tell a difference if the pitch and cadence started to change (maybe others). What were the types of changes?

    • @ewen832
      @ewen832 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@AutomateYourLife that’s the thing, we couldn’t detect a change until it was to late. Vicki could tell the difference because she was speaking and as a speaker she heard the sound through the bone structure up into her ears, the same bone structure that was being attacked by the cancer. She was saying my voice sounds different and we were saying no it doesn’t.
      I have tried to confuse google in the past by putting a funny voice on and asking google who I was, it always replied with the correct name. I think that maybe the voice recognition function can unwittingly detect changes that we can’t.

      @@AutomateYourLife I have spoken to Vicki and she does not have a problem about highlighting this issue to google but we do not have the contacts that I think you have.
      If you want to include us in a story my only condition would be first names only. Vicki only started her first round of chemotherapy last Tuesday. The chemotherapy is every 21 days for six treatments.

    I have the original version (The Sond Audio TV Soundbar from 2014 UK, which was reviewed by avforums in Sept 2014) which only had Bluetooth and Line in But had NFC Pairing and a 30w 2.1 system, Still have it and still works well. Hey, Brian. I always look forward to your monthly gadget roundup. I find them really interesting and they always keep me occupied for awhile after I watch them clicking on your links and reading more about some of them. I also am a huge fan of Lutron so this one had me looking to see what the difference is with that particular dimmer and the Lutron one I'm using in my house, It's a fairly expensive dimmer switch, even for Lutron and had to go back and review what you said qne or course you explained it. The takeaway for me is that if you're only dimming LED can or strip lights their significantly lower priced dimmer is the obvious choice. But if you do have the low voltage track lighting and other special lights as you mentioned, this new one is a great solution. You made me look!!! Thanks, Brian.

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Hey Hugh! Yeah that one is a pretty technical thing to talk about. A lot of low voltage lighting requires a specific type of phase dimming. It's essentially how they manipulate the signal in order to get the dimming to happen. So with that one it's a special feature is that it does both forward and reverse phase dimming... Which is a pretty rare opportunity, especially with smart switches! Ultimately it results in exactly what you said, but I thought you'd like the technical reason!
      It's like I know you well or something 🤣

    I have a question, I would appreciate your help answering it with your experience:
    On the Eufy camera system, with the homebase that you showed, Do the cameras ONLY connect to the homebase's own wireless signal? What happens if it is a very large and big house and that signal does not reach to each of the places where a camera needs to be mounted? Can the cameras also use the house WiFi ? We have a good wifi coverage provided by a Orbi mesh system. Can the cameras connect to that existing WiFi, and the homebase connect to the Ethernet on the house, and everything works as expected? Thanks. PS: we had s40 eufy cameras that worked without a homebase on a.previous house, connected only to the wifi. Homebase is new to us, so we do not understand how it works, yet. Downloaded the manuals but they do not explain much. Thanks.

      Thanks, for your fast answer. I will take a look at that video. It is a very big house, made of thick concrete walls with some marble finishes on them. The density is much bigger than that of drywall. That is why my concern about the communication signal between cameras and homebase reaching.

    • @AutomateYourLife
      @AutomateYourLife  8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@oaguilarm yeah so you might need two Homebases is the ultimate answer. Totally something to test and watch, but this system will be more resilient than other Wi-Fi based ones. It's also easy to return ;)

      @oaguilarm 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks Brian. I will give it a try, and get a 2nd homebase if needed.
      I really like Eufy features and app. Just hope they have fixed the water ingress problem on previous solar cameras, with this new camera. We had about 10 of the S40 cameras and almost all of them got water ingress making condensation inside the lens and rust inside the white internal light that is around the lens. And the solar cell flaking. That worries me, because it is a lot of money for ten cameras, to last only
      2 years. Anyway I will take the risk as I like and trust Eufy features. Thanks.
