Yeah very helpful Jaime as always, reviews on point, just decided to go with the s7 edge, cause I care about display zise and battery life, thanks again Jaime this really helps
i want the normal s7. i feel that the unnecessary edge will get on my nerves. and it's too big for my taste. i don't really care about the battery. also, the screen on the edge is much more sensitive to scratches. and i don't care that the edge is more water resistant. both are great. but the s7 is just enough for me.
i think you are correct. i have the edge version and its a fantastic phone, but seems to me to be too long. it sticks out of the top of jeans pockets and in the front pocket falls where my leg bends. the edge feature is of no use and i do not use it. however it does look better than the standard and the battery life is amazing. i end the day at over 50% which also tells me that the standard battery would do fine for my use.
Miri xoxo I have the s7 is a pretty phone ... but I like edge better is just looks sexy...s7 is like that pretty girlfriend and the edge is the hot sister lol
If you're into beauty and airy, fairy gimmicks, maybe the Edge is for you but if you're more of a function over form individual then the "plain" S7 is the ticket.
I had both. Ended up with the S7 because that blue glare on the sides of the edge got really annoying. After having a Note for a few years its nice being back on a one-handed phone...
after finally getting the s7 I can whole heartedly agree, you don't want to put it down. but also like you mentioned you can't stop wiping it off either..
I would totally recommend the Edge variant. The bigger and curved screen coupled with the bigger battery is well worth the extra 100$ when you are already spending this kind of money on a phone. I've seen people around the Web getting 10 hours of screen on time. That's awesome.
I choose the S7, and i dont regret it. The phone is a beast, and the camera is sooo good. You have to try it out for yourself. Also, it feels amazing in the hand, you just want to hold it all day lol. Only complaint is the fingerprint scanner, its not that accurete.
I totally agree on all those points. The S7 is the perfect size to use one handed but the fingerprint scanner usually doesn't read my right thumb unless I hold it a certain way.
I would save the $100 and just turn off always on screen and battery life will be closer and you will be quids in. However if you find the Edge sexier then that is your choice, however having sold my S6 Edge plus after a few months as I didn't like the feel, I suspect the market will be split between the two variants. Anyway I would just by the S6 at around half the price and put up with the battery life as the S7 isn't much of an upgrade unless you like risking your $1000 in water (no warranty) or need an SD card (pain that you have to take the SIM out every time you want the SD card). These two features are really only for a niche buying group. Those updating from an S4 will be very impressed though so a great phone for upgrading to.
Traded my S7 Edge back in for the S7. I just prefer the non curved screens. I did do a double take when looking at the frame around the display on the S7. It looks crooked in places. I had the rep at the Zagg kiosk look at it and he was starting to see what I was talking about. The tempered glass screen protector that he installed helped things a bit because that protector has a bevel around it. Really surprised at the build quality on this.
does it worth to upgrade to s7/s7 edge from iphone 6 or should i get the iphone 7 ? (i know that the note isn't safe, but i'm afraid to buy an s7 edge too...)
I would either go for the s7 or s7 edge, Iphone 7 is complete garbage compared to these beasts ( coming from an Iphone fan ;) ) And I would really go with the normal instead of the s7 edge but thats your choice, it's just too bulky for me and I dont consider 100$ + more worth it for just a better battery
Ive tried the S6, S6 edge, S7 and S7 edge, and with both S6 and S7 I decided to stick with the non edge versions. Just never used the edge features, and saved money as well.
There's only one thing that I worry about the edge. You really can't get a tempered glass and I just wonder how expensive the glass repair is with that edge.
Those bezels on the edge are killing me practically no bezel and you're always wondering why the screen isn't responding bc you're touching the screen it's very frustrating 😬
the main reason i ditched my htc e8 for the edge is because of the mind blowing quality, the amazing processor, the HUGE BATTERY (I mean it's amazing. yesterday i took my phone off the charger at 7am and reached 10% by 11pm even with me using apps and TH-cam.) and the perfect camera quality. I'm loving this phone more and more everyday!
@Pocket now, are you planning to have a duel S6 Edge plus (Marshmellow) vs. S7 Edge? I only see few difference Battery, .2 inches screen difference, Micro SD card support? am I missing anything else?
I bought S5 for 165 but wish I waited as I see a S7 edge for 375 second hand, the extra 16GB internal storage and better battery are a plus, and even if something broke just buy parts and use heat gun / adhesive and you can replace battery and screen
I think S7 flat is better for me.. that curved display seems gimmicky.. for the record I'm upgrading from an iPhone 5. Please advise, what other options do I need to check out?
***** Yes, I'm going for the S7 flat.. it has everything I need specially the SD Card option to expand the memory.. I'm not a big fan of the S7 Edge since I don't like the slippery feel to it and for one hand use the S7 flat is a lot more comfortable. I think the S7 flat makes more sense coming from the iPhone 5 don't you think?
***** Sure, you need to feel the phones in person to make a wise decision... I already did play around with them and I fell in love with the S7 flat.. I really didn't like the curved display on the Edge but that's just me.. I think the S7 flat is a better phone overall.. That curved display is not for everyone, keep that in mind.
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge !!!!! :) Finally the expandable memory is back, and while no replaceable battery, the 3600 is obviously getting better !!!! So time to trade in my S4. :)> Thank you Jamie, ad we are really looking forward to your full reviews !!! :)
Good review ! So if I don't care about design (witch in this case, the Edge is better) and battery life, since I'm traveling in my van and have lot of energy source for charging, I should go with flat version and don't lose anything, right ? I'm most interested in camera, to filming with the gimbal. So if the camera quality is the same, I rather prefer to keep those 100 bucks , in my pocket.
I like Pocketnow's videos but they are uploaded very late. I have already seen more than 12-13 review and comparison videos of Galaxy S7 and S7 edge(in last 7 days).
+Rahul Jaiswal It's not a race buddy. It wouldn't be fair to you for us to just rush with a review for the sake of competing. Our commitment is to give you a good review, not to be faster than the rest. ^JR
Really? I don't know what is better to buy. For me is very important the camera and the battery life. now what you think? is better to buy the edge or the normal one? or the s6 edge or normal s6? mamamia man i gonna drive me crazy with this phones
as an Android app dev, I'm not going to spend weeks or months making an app based on the edge (or spending a bit of that time to include the edge feature into my apps). The problem comes in, why am I going to spend $100+ hours on a feature that no one is going to be able to use. If Samsung released the edge for all to use, and others take it. Then I'm sure many of us would love to code for it. This is the exact same problem Windows is finding with their phone and Windows 10 apps
West Yorkshire A mixture between not enough users, and a pain to make apps on the platforms in the first place (I think most devs would deal with the pain if we can at least make some money) It's again one of those problems on why am I going to spend a load of time making an app that hardly anyone is going to use, and I'm not going to make anything on. In fact, it's not even worth making a Windows UA app for resume material. Windows is never going to be able to go up against Android and Apple, unless if they make a deal with the gov and schools for them to use their product above the others (this is why nearly the entire world uses Windows computers) With this being said, Microsoft needs to really start pushing their Windows 10 store, making events around it, and so on. There is a ton of devs like myself that want to make apps for it. But we will lose money supporting apps that only a handful will use (many major companies have pulled their apps from the Windows 10 store because of this)
Guys I'm buying one of these next week, but I don't know which one to choose. Is it worth paying £70 for the edge, or should I just get the s7? Would appreciate any opinions, cheers.
Need a new phone after my G4 bootloop (bricked). Thinking of S7 since the camera (and vid) is simply amazing. I had the S6 edge for a week and the battery sucked so I swapped for G4. Battery good on both S7s?
I've been with lg since the G2 had the G3 and now g4 but I might have to go with Samsung this year and wait for the G6 next year. I didn't like that the screen got smaller and the battery as well.
In my opinion 1440p on the 5.5 inch S7 Edge is an improvement in resolution over the 5.1 S7 since your eyes are actually able to see all that resolution regularly. In technical words: you eyes see's more pixels on the S7 Edge even though they usually can't discern them individually.
Got the s7 edge and have to say the extra battery life is awesome. I also like the extra screen size. Will say it's the best android I have used to date. The camera and expandable memory are excellent so glad Samsung listened. The water resistant feature just puts it over the top. But have to say the camera simply the best ever. I truly didn't think they could make it better but they did. Samsung your amazing. Overall spending the extra money for the better battery is well worth it. So happy with my new device.
HELP. Im going to buy the s7 or s7 edge tomorrow and still dont know what to get! I keep changing my mind by reading reviews. I have heard allot of people saying the edge screen gets in the way when holding the phone and apps etc open up randomly because of it. Is this true? and whats the edge like in the pocket aswell? is it too big. Thankss
I have the S7 Edge and what sucks I originally had it in Black Onyx but Tmobile stopped selling the black edge so after I went through the Note 7 Recall twice I had to end up with a S7 Edge in gold which really annoys me since i'm not a fan of the color and thinking of downgrading to the S7 but I am a huge media user on my phone and I really dont want a smaller screen :(
got the black onyx edge, one question, i heard that having a large gig mini sd card improves performance, is this true? bc right now im using an 8 gig card.
In my opinion if you have enough money to buy a Samsung Galaxy flagship you can afford to spend the $100 extra. You get a bigger display, edge and edge features, and the bigger battery. Galaxy S7 Edge is clearly the better option here.
I want a regular s7 but on Verizon they have a sale going on until Dec. 10, 2016 so that you only have to pay $15/month instead of $33/month. They put the edge for more than half off, sooooo, that's a fuckin steal.
I can either buy the s7 with MetroPCS or buy the s7 edge unlocked and then get a Sim card for metro (MetroPCS doest carry this phone.) i have the s5 and desperately need an upgrade but I'm not sure which to go with :-/
Should I get the regular S7 or the edge ? Is the S7 edge way bigger than the regular one ? is it comfortable to hold and manipulate despite its 5.5 inch screen ? Also is the S7 edge prone to scratches and does it need a screen protector on top of that gorilla glass 4 ?
+Lg Marquez Well I got the edge and I must say I'm really impressed by this phone ! even though it's a 5.5 inches phone it actually doesn't feel awkward to hold and manipulate , it feels more comfortable to operate than my Z2 and its angular shape . I love how the screen curves on the top and bottom . Overall I didn't regret getting this edge over its smaller counterpart , the only thing that I found annoying is the fact that it's not that easy to grip one handedly when it's lying on a flat surface because of the thinness of the bezels , thankfully , putting a case Will solve this problem .
+Samy_06 I had the edge to didn't use the edge features, battery life wasn't that much better I didn't think it was worth the extra 100$ so I returned it and switched to the s7, and spent the extra 100$ for a vr
+Lg Marquez Well the edge's battery is great !! I have no complaints about that , and it recharges really fast , I get about 7 hours on screen pretty easily. When it comes to the edge features I admit they're not that useful but at least there is the night clock which is a neat feature that I'm using all the time and the edge feed isn't bad either .
Get the S7 and spend that extra hundred dollars on a portable charger.
And a nice case lol
case with built in battery
Or gear vr
get s7 16 gigs and then but the extra gigs- cheaper than s7 edge
Deng Manyang s7 and s7 edge both come at 32gb of base storage , there's no 16 gb variant
getting the normal s7 and an extra 64gb memory card tomorrow ! goodbye iphone its been a painful few years you will not be missed .
xD
Showed this to a customer today to help them choose their phone, thanks very much!
+Nathan Houston Haha nice, glad to be of service! ^JR
+Pocketnow keep it up 😉
You work in a Samsung store?
+Matthew Bishop work in a phone shop, handy to have these videos for people who sit on the fence.
Yeah very helpful Jaime as always, reviews on point, just decided to go with the s7 edge, cause I care about display zise and battery life, thanks again Jaime this really helps
watching this on my Galaxy S8 Edge
How's the battery life and the display?
+Shellyman 8K™ 4600 mAh battery but still the S8 edge has amoled display dammit
SomeLuckyboy LOL
+Shellyman 8K™ 8k display bruh
Azren Roci It's also PCOLED.
I think s7 edge is wonderful, only if it is smaller as the regular s7.
great review
+Maria Gomes thanks! ^JR
just bought s7... trust me... s7 has a good grip.. one handed operation so easy...
thanks dude even after 2 years im gonna buy s7 just for ur words even i found both of them for the same prix
*Drops S7* ( Still ok!)
*Drops S7 edge* NOOO THE SCREEN IS SHATTERED *cries*
I just love the level of professionalism by Pocketnow.
Pictures in S7 looks brighter than Edge.
I really like how the guy says his own name.
I already know this video is gonna blow up. good to know I was one of the first 42 to see it.
i want the normal s7. i feel that the unnecessary edge will get on my nerves. and it's too big for my taste. i don't really care about the battery. also, the screen on the edge is much more sensitive to scratches. and i don't care that the edge is more water resistant. both are great. but the s7 is just enough for me.

The question is does you galaxy still works 😂 because they get screen burn they don’t last too long
If you're into beauty and airy, fairy gimmicks, maybe the Edge is for you but if you're more of a function over form individual then the "plain" S7 is the ticket.
I had both. Ended up with the S7 because that blue glare on the sides of the edge got really annoying. After having a Note for a few years its nice being back on a one-handed phone...
Can you do a pro and con video of touchwiz versus pure android?
is the problem fixed where you hit the back button with the palm unintentionally while typing?
Superb video guys i would love to see more videos like this
this was the best review by far. quality review for quality phone ...thank you
Fuck yeah dudes. I just jumped ship from iPhone 6 to s7 galaxy edge.
Comes in the mail next week!!!! Hi five!
👍Great reviews. Thank you.
after finally getting the s7 I can whole heartedly agree, you don't want to put it down. but also like you mentioned you can't stop wiping it off either..
Watching this on my S21edge Grand Mega Note Advance Pro Active+
Damn you, year 2030...
I like the regular s7 it's more compact and still pretty big
nice review, i would love if you post a video regarding the audio output in loudspeakers.
Thanks.
I would totally recommend the Edge variant. The bigger and curved screen coupled with the bigger battery is well worth the extra 100$ when you are already spending this kind of money on a phone. I've seen people around the Web getting 10 hours of screen on time. That's awesome.
one of the reasons I went for the edge variant. but that camera though is a huge disappointment. I think it has to do with that Sony isocell
5:00 and you see that all edge variant have a green tint in the screen, the normal s7 have white and not greenish whites.
Those updating from an S4 will be very impressed though so a great phone for upgrading to.
when is this " full review" coming .you been saying this for a long time now
Do you want a decent review or half hearted?
Traded my S7 Edge back in for the S7. I just prefer the non curved screens. I did do a double take when looking at the frame around the display on the S7. It looks crooked in places. I had the rep at the Zagg kiosk look at it and he was starting to see what I was talking about. The tempered glass screen protector that he installed helped things a bit because that protector has a bevel around it. Really surprised at the build quality on this.
What about the Samsung Galaxy s7 Active? When does that come out?
i doubt it will, both of these phones are already waterproof as and if you want better protection you can just get a case
+Oliver Baden Jensen I highly doubt there will be one, since the S7 line has waterproofing, and the Edge has the same size battery as the S6 Active.
Dan Cook there is one now
does it worth to upgrade to s7/s7 edge from iphone 6 or should i get the iphone 7 ? (i know that the note isn't safe, but i'm afraid to buy an s7 edge too...)
I would either go for the s7 or s7 edge, Iphone 7 is complete garbage compared to these beasts ( coming from an Iphone fan ;) ) And I would really go with the normal instead of the s7 edge but thats your choice, it's just too bulky for me and I dont consider 100$ + more worth it for just a better battery
I have small hands so I prefer the s7. Would be nice if I had a bit bigger hands to hold bigger phones XD
hey Jaime, it's two weeks now since you posted pocketnow daily recap.
Does anyone else comment just in hopes to get likes....
+Duncan Koziol yeah me sometimes lol
Ive tried the S6, S6 edge, S7 and S7 edge, and with both S6 and S7 I decided to stick with the non edge versions. Just never used the edge features, and saved money as well.
s7 edge best i bought in 2019
There's only one thing that I worry about the edge. You really can't get a tempered glass and I just wonder how expensive the glass repair is with that edge.
its really expensive.
Hey wat about the wrisk wire? like the one on the PSP so it won't fall & crack the screen?
+Pyry Jalonen There were tempered glass screen protectors for the S6 Edge.
When will the full review come out ?
Those bezels on the edge are killing me practically no bezel and you're always wondering why the screen isn't responding bc you're touching the screen it's very frustrating 😬
the main reason i ditched my htc e8 for the edge is because of the mind blowing quality, the amazing processor, the HUGE BATTERY (I mean it's amazing. yesterday i took my phone off the charger at 7am and reached 10% by 11pm even with me using apps and TH-cam.) and the perfect camera quality. I love the look of the edge but I don't see the real functionality of it. Couldn't the side menu work just as well on a flat screen?
+DirtyZhivago Pretty much, it's just a gimmick.
I bought S5 for 165 but wish I waited as I see a S7 edge for 375 second hand, the extra 16GB internal storage and better battery are a plus, and even if something broke just buy parts and use heat gun / adhesive and you can replace battery and screen

Nice review! Will consider which one to buy.
What song is in the background in the beginning!?
Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge !!!!! :)
Finally the expandable memory is back, and while no replaceable battery, the 3600 is obviously getting better !!!!
So time to trade in my S4. :)>
Thank you Jamie, ad we are really looking forward to your full reviews !!! :)
Good review ! I find pocketnow is always more accurate, they test before spouting out a video. For others it's just first to post.
+Rahul Jaiswal It's not a race buddy. It wouldn't be fair to you for us to just rush with a review for the sake of competing. Our commitment is to give you a good review, not to be faster than the rest. ^JR
I bought the edge, and im not convinced with the camera. My old S5 seams to take more vibrant colored pictures.
Really? I don't know what is better to buy. For me is very important the camera and the battery life. now what you think? is better to buy the edge or the normal one? or the s6 edge or normal s6? mamamia man i gonna drive me crazy with this phones
+Cool CocaChannel it's still the best buy, hands down.
Cool CocaChannel i did not like the 6 edge, the back of it was too sharp and if you place it on a class table, you could barely pick it up again.
Is it worth upgrading from my S5 mini
Nice job Jaime...Compare against the 6P please!
Looking at this video with the s7 edge:-) What a phone! I love it
as also your comparison is the best on yt

This game is Galaga?
+Sandro Vicca it's like Galaga, only better. It's called Skyforce ^JR
+Pocketnow Tks!!! Download Now!
a comparison video between the lg g5 with s7 will be great
The edge idea is pretty cool and all but I just don't see it getting that many supported features for some reason.
Need a new phone after my G4 bootloop (bricked). Thinking of S7 since the camera (and vid) is simply amazing. I had the S6 edge for a week and the battery sucked so I swapped for G4. Battery good on both S7s?
Jaime, since when did you start reviewing phones? I'm used to seeing you doing pocketnow daily. Just saying!
If I had to choose I'd choose the S7 Edge since it's bigger but I'm waiting for the Note 6.
Does s7 support samsung VR or its only for s7Edge?
Both support
Does anyone know if "Ok Google" works with the screen off? This feature has NEVER worked with Samsung phones.
Nope, not on my s7 edge
+Caroline Benton Dammit. I wish Samsung would get rid of that stupid S Voice crap
Can you turn off the extra feature menu on the S7 Edge?
I've been with lg since the G2 had the G3 and now g4 but I might have to go with Samsung this year and wait for the G6 next year. I didn't like that the screen got smaller and the battery as well.
agreed and the g5 is ugly 😞
In my opinion 1440p on the 5.5 inch S7 Edge is an improvement in resolution over the 5.1 S7 since your eyes are actually able to see all that resolution regularly.

Got the s7 edge and have to say the extra battery life is awesome. I also like the extra screen size. Will say it's the best android I have used to date. is this worth upgrading to, from my s6 edge plus?
Nah not really
My new favourite phone. I want one so bad...it's time to retire my Note 3.
Thankss
Yeah the opening apps randomly is true but only when you have like wet or greasy hands.
Galaxy S7 Edge all the way.
Hey! Your profile picture is really cool, I was wondering if you could tell me how you made it our give me the source of where you found it. Thanks!
Lia2k You can get it on my Google + page and it's a pinned tweet.
is s7 can open 2 apps at the same time?
yessss
does anyone know what game that was? with the plane flying around, blasting other planes?
I have the S7 Edge and what sucks I originally had it in Black Onyx but Tmobile stopped selling the black edge so after I went through the Note 7 Recall twice I had to end up with a S7 Edge in gold which really annoys me since i'm not a fan of the color and thinking of downgrading to the S7 but I am a huge media user on my phone and I really dont want a smaller screen :(
Pocketnow What is the name of this background music cause I love it?
got the black onyx edge, one question, i heard that having a large gig mini sd card improves performance, is this true? bc right now im using an 8 gig card.
Is that bar there when your on instagram or something. Like ig you swipe does that task bar show up
I got my gs7 edge and I can't wait for your full review so I van explore my new devise
I thought we didn't need the FCC markings anymore
Can you tell me what's the price of s7
In my opinion if you have enough money to buy a Samsung Galaxy flagship you can afford to spend the $100 extra. You get a bigger display, edge and edge features, and the bigger battery. Galaxy S7 Edge is clearly the better option here.
The US variants have so much information on the back, my European version only has the Samsung logo on it.
this year it's actually worth it to get the edge. bigger screen and 600 more mAh compared to just 50 from last year.
What game was shown ?
I want a regular s7 but on Verizon they have a sale going on until Dec. 10, 2016 so that you only have to pay $15/month instead of $33/month. They put the edge for more than half off, sooooo, that's a fuckin steal.
Can anybody tell me the game he's playing at 3:59? Reminds me of a vdo game i used to play as a kid.

That's the most convenient review i ever get.
reviewers like marques says that the camera is the best but the photos looked over exposed.
Can't wait for my edge :)
I went for the regular s7 and I love it
I can either buy the s7 with MetroPCS or buy the s7 edge unlocked and then get a Sim card for metro (MetroPCS doest carry this phone.) i have the s5 and desperately need an upgrade but I'm not sure which to go with :-/
Should I get the regular S7 or the edge ?
Is the S7 edge way bigger than the regular one ? is it comfortable to hold and manipulate despite its 5.5 inch screen ? Also is the S7 edge prone to scratches and does it need a screen protector on top of that gorilla glass 4 ?
Go for s7 edge.
go for the s7 the edge is not worth it
+Lg Marquez Well I got the edge and I must say I'm really impressed by this phone ! even though it's a 5.5 inches phone it actually doesn't feel awkward to hold and manipulate , it feels more comfortable to operate than my Z2 and its angular shape .
When it comes to the edge features I admit they're not that useful but at least there is the night clock which is a neat feature that I'm using all the time and the edge feed isn't bad either .
hey buddy can you tell about the problems of using a s7 edge variant ... i think keyboard is problematic due to the curved glass...thanks
+Rahul Raj all works fine here. Again, the edge is an acquired taste ^JR
+Pocketnow thanks. JR
no problem with the keyboard. i have used the s7 edge for many days now and writing on keyboard is no problem
+Stian that's amazing... So i must go for the s7 edge
+Rahul Raj yeah, get the edge. there is no issue with the keyboard.
Does wireless charging work with skins on?
Yeah, the back of the phone just can't be metal. It has to be either plastic or glass.
