    How long do you keep your phone? Do you upgrade every year? Two years? More? Samsung's focus for the Galaxy S7 was to refine the Galaxy S6, and replace some features we missed from the Galaxy S5. This strategy has resulted in one of the most appealing phones of the year, but also one of the most expensive. Are these improvements enough to convince S6 owners to take the plunge on a one year upgrade? Let's take a look...

    You should not have any cases or skins on your phones in reviews. not even screen protectors.

      @tech4life0431 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dunno I wouldn't expect anyone to remove a screen protector or skin and possibly damaging it just for a video, it's different if the phone was new, where one could just not put it on in the first place, but with this being a year old I would not think it is worth it.

    Pocketnow reviews are beginning to feel more innovative. There's a load of indepth technical detail here, yet the review fully engages as the pace gallops along. That takes high skill levels across a broad range of abilities. It's going to be a good year for the channel.

    My class has a projector, and because it's ceiling mounted, a control panel is at the wall in front, and as you can guess... It sometimes won't work properly, and my GS6 saved many of those troubles where some dude had to bring a long stick of some sort and press the power button on the top.

    Samsung would have a really difficult time finding the room and the design language to swing dual front-facing speakers on their phones, especially not if they want to continue having off-screen buttons. What I am incredibly disappointed about, though, is not this. It is instead that they have decided not to use the same Wolfson DAC that they used last time in the S6, which has allowed the audio performance over headphones to slip a bit (or a lot, depending on how much you hate Qualcomm's integrated DAC).

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robert Coffey It's definitely a bummer. I keep whining about it, but I would love to see the main loudspeaker placed where the calling speaker is. Even if you don't have front STEREO speakers, you could still have a front mono speaker.

    Two days ago I upgraded from my S6 to the S7 Edge and it's definitely worth it, if your in a carrier plan like Jump from T-Mobile. The S7 Edge has waaaay better Battery life (Which I totally love!), camera is real nice, faster at processing task management, haven't had no ram management issues and Expandable Memory is back! I would totally recommend upgrading if you have an S6 or previous model.

You can give you customerS all the free shyts but what's the point if they can't use it? I am kinda glad TH-cam has now been added to bench-on tho. But yet again if you are in a poor signal zone no point! :-(. COME ON T-MOBILE!!

    Just looked on ebay and a new S6 is $300 cheaper new than the S7. Water resistance and SD card slot have no interest for me, camera differences=pros and cons, so it is whether it is worth paying $300 for better battery life and slightly bigger screen? I would say no, and that took a micro second to think about. I am on the S5 32gb 2k screen and in fact I will just keep that as there is very little difference from S5 to S7 though superficially better quality the S7 basically is an S5 revisited!

    Ahhhh it's just like any other android smartphone. Not really worth the premium tag on that. Can't do too much on that. But you can do more on an android phone than on an iPhone. I'd rather spend big premium money on a Microsoft Surface Pro or Surface Book. Those are worth it and has more to offer for the money.

    Samsung should have retained the 16:9 ratio and the IR blaster.
    Samsung's signature has been no compromises when it comes to features. I hope it remains that way. Hope the Note 6 addresses the minor issues.
    P.S. I guess this year's Note will have an Edge display.

    I just bought my s6 2 months ago, now it it affordable for me, i don't see anything else than low light photos are better in S7, i am not concerned with battery life on S6, everytime i go sleep i charge it, even if its on 80%, so doesnt matter.

    I wish my Note 4 drained that slow on video. hell, in general. Just by being in my pocket for an hour it'll go from 73% down to the 51% or even lower at times. It's battery drains so quick. I don't use it for much media, and I just usually text. Use some data do I can Kik my friends. That's about it. Still struggle to go 4 hours with it. So I'm thinking about upgrading, and the S7 seems to be my best bet since I still want to use my Gear S and eventually get the Gear S2 or S3 when it releases

    • @SomeGadgetGuy

      +Ramon Gonzalez it's the bane of android. If you REALLY use it, you'll murder that battery. Right now I have an issue with my V10 where SOMETHING is activate the location services ALL THE TIME, and I can't figure out which app it is, but it's gobbling up battery like crazy.

    I'm curious as to know if the amp is also responsible to processing the music via Bluetooth or just via headphone jack?

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Daniel Carrión Amps only influence the headphone jack.

    • @Danu01c
      @Danu01c 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      JuanBagnell thanks for the quick reply! What exactly manages the processing of the music via Bluetooth?

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      *****
      The actual headphones tackle that. They'll have their own DAC on board.

    • @Danu01c
      @Danu01c 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      JuanBagnell so if the music sounds amazing in the car stereo or my headphones is the stereo or headphones that have a great processing?

    • @oliviamay
      @oliviamay 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Daniel Carrión In that case, it actually depends on if you're using Bluetooth or a cable. If it's a cable, then it's partially the phone, partially the car, but a bad phone DAC would affect it. If it's Bluetooth, then it's your car stereo and speakers.

    Tried my pair of Jays on the S7 Edge and music output was...meh. Dunno if a 3rd party app would boost the volume/bass, but I was expecting a bit more audio-wise on such a high-end phone.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Fresh Snow Bummer to hear that. I haven't used the S7 Edge, but I was hoping playback would be closer to the S6E+.

    • @tubefriki76
      @tubefriki76 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JuanBagnell Here in Jakarta, Indonesia, both the S7 and S7 Edge won't be officially released till next week. Pre-orders for the S7 Edge (last week was the cutoff date) comes bundled with a free VR; a free smartcase for the regular S7.
      Been checking out these phones at official Samsung stores and perhaps the ones on display weren't final versions (the S7 Edge I fiddled with was somewhat laggy despite it using the latest Exynos chip).
      And as far as audio quality is concerned, I admit that my a-Jays Five may not be the best for getting the right amount of oomph when listening to tunes. Then again, the S7 Edge unit I was dabbling with didn't have any installed quality music files for me to test.
      Bummer indeed.

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fresh Snow
      Whether or not the Jays are somehow "nice" enough, you've absolutely got the right idea. It's critical you listen to the demos with the headphones YOU use. If they don't have high quality files, maybe bring your own on a flash drive and OTG cable?

    • @oliviamay
      @oliviamay 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JuanBagnell Although more than likely, they have the phones tethered by the USB port so they keep charging and don't get stolen.

    Flagship phones should have a longer shelf life than 2yrs. It wouldn't be a issue if OEM's updated their software bc the hardware will last. Spending $700-$800 bucks every 2 years is getting to be ridiculous!

      Taraz T Phones, since the dawn of the smartphone era, were never meant to be upgraded yearly. If you look at ANY phone, there usually isn't a big change within 1 year. Upgrading every two years is where you start to see the BIG changes rather than the miniscule ones. The only exceptions is when a company rebuilds a smartphone from the ground up in a year which rarely happens. (Ex. Galaxy S6, LG G5)
