As phablets continue to reign supreme, Samsung has proven that it can blur the lines between the category with the Samsung Galaxy S7. Samsung may have not explicitly called the Galaxy S7 edge a phablet, but if you follow the terms on wikipedia, any smartphone with a screen sized above 5.1-inches in the diagonal can be safely included in the category.
Keep in mind thought that this is a category that’s already well dominated by some of our favorite devices of 2015, being the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, and Galaxy S6 Edge+. My s6 edge does have the new edge features. Why didn't you wait until *your* note 5/ edge + got the marshmallow update to compare them. It's been out for a while now.

Ntsako Phakula you should get a push notification for an update when ones available, or you can manually check in settings and scrolling to the bottom to and selecting about device

@Jamie Did you turn on video image stabilisation option in Note 5. Which Samsung called OIS + VDIS feature. I do see that S7 maybe on by default too.

Great review--as always--Jaime! I didn't even know about the Scroll Capture feature on the S7 Edge until you spoke about it. It's life-changing!
As somebody who has an S7 Edge and an iPhone 6s Plus, I wish Apple would incorporate Scroll Capture and Samsung integrate the touch and scroll to the top of the page.
Do we leave video stabilization on in the camera options even though we have optical image stabilization on the note5/s7e? Leaving video stabilization off in the camera settings and letting the hardware stabilize the image has worked better for me in most cases.

Yes it does. My S6 edge + is running 6.0.1 and got all the new edge features.

This 6 year old video was for some reason just recommended to me on the homepage here on TH-cam. I did watch it 6 years ago. And I ended up getting the S7 Edge later that year. Which I was very satisfied with. I now have the S10 and probably will get the S23 Ultra when it comes out. Assuming that is what it will be called.

Hi. On one of the pocketnow podcasts they said you discovered that the processor in the Note 5 was actually faster than the Qualcomm 820 when playing certain high graphics games. Is this true?
depending on the S pen which integrated with note 5 does note 5 could have superiority over S7 Edge or S7 Edge still beat Note 5 in your view of point ?
Verizon has released marshmallow on the Note 5 in the US but not the S6 Edge Plus and I'm wondering if it's because they're going to bring that new Edge functionality from the 7 to the 6 Plus?? Or are they holding off with marshmallow on s6 to entice buyers to buy the s7 because it has 6.0.1

My s6 edge got android 6.0.1 and all the new features on the Edge are available as well as much improvement to battery.
Which one to buy
even added 4 gb of ram? when comparing to the other two flagships in the video they all have 4 gb of ram. And with Marshmallow in s6 edge plus, the edge features have been transported and are the same as on s7 edge.
what do you think when the Note 6 hits I have a new Note 5 should I upgrade or keep what I got I want new features and a better faster phone or is it slightly better the Note 6 has to be better to spend that kind of money let me know thanks

In currently trying both. I'm finding the S7 Edge battery life somewhat better, but otherwise they're about the same in day to day performance. I'd say that if you use the S-Pen, stick to the Note 5. If not and you can afford it, the S7 Edge battery life is a lot better in my and most reviewers and users' experiences.
hey... can any one tell me if he faced this problem... the screen of my note 5 have some leftovers of the most used apps... for example in the bottom of the screen I can see the camera logo of the instagram all the time... also whatsapp top bar left a mark and I can see it when the screen is white... I mean while I'm watching youtube I can see the share and call bottons of whatsapp in the top right corner all the time..
It's called burn-in. Google it. :) And stop using your phone on max.luminosity. :)
I got all the features of S7 Edge on my S6 Edge Plus when I got OTA of Android 6.0.1 on March 1st.
My galaxy s6 edge plus has those software features of the s7, as well as the os version 6.0.1
yeah for almost all the US carriers the MM update from samsung didnt come out until a week or 2 after this video was published.

I got marshmallow update on my edge+ a week back and the update brought major s7 edge features to my phone. I have the new edge screen features that are on s7 edge, always on display and lightning fast speed. The update also modifies the camera on the edge+. I tested it against my s7 edge and the results were same under normal and low light conditions. Although I will say that OIS is way better in s7 edge.

The Galaxy Note 5 on Verizon has been updated to Android 6.0.1. This makes it practically identical to the Galaxy S7 edge from a software stands point.
I've just received my s7 edge. My so edge was less than a year old and I wasn't sure if the new phone would be worth the investment. Wow it's worth it. Feels much better in the hand with the curved glass on the back. The display and camera now second to none. My so always had a greenish tinge to the glass making whites less bright. But the real reason I purchased this phone was the massive improvement when using the VR gear. The new processor is so quick. The battery really does last and being able to expand the memory is now important to me having so many VR games and experiences to play. In addition Samsung have fixed the problem of the S6 over heating when using the VR headset. The new phone is filled with gas that turns to gel to cool the thing. It really works.

I've always been a note user, but because the note 5 didn't come to Europe, i switcht to huawei.
Missed the pen so much I bought the notepro 12.2 tablet to still be able to take some notes and it's a beast for a tablet that is "so old"! The note 6 will be just as a beast as well.

I really want to have a samsung galaxy phone ( s6 edge or the s7 ) but im really into the apple ecosystem with a mac book, iPad and iphone 6plus ... Many apps that i already paid for but most likely i would try a galaxy phone maybe the galaxy s7 edge is the one!

Samsung galaxy a9 is cheap it's only $500 or less it's bigger that note 5 and one of the moster battery in the market right now it's new release samsung smartphone it's like note 5 but $200 more cheaper.

It was the S6 Edge+ and then the S7 Edge. The right handed side was kinda expensive and wasnt pratical for all I think.

I'm happy with my Note 5. There's still no signs of lag aging, and with 6.0.1 M on my device, I'll probably be keeping mine until the end of the year, maybe next depending on if it receives 7.0 N. No updating for me!
Also, I wonder why Google jumped from 6 to 7 without an in between update.

I got a new S6 Edge+ on eBay for $350. Of cause it got updated to Marshmallow.

I kinda like Dbrand skins, but my phone is made of cheap plastic( so, nope), not saying it is a bad thing, I drop my phone every time and it kicks, never broke. This" premium" phones are fragile as fuck, why have beauty if you have to use a case.

well I'm impressed with my note edge and I didn't see any reason to replace it with note 5 or edge plus. but s7 edge seems much more than impressive and I wanna upgrade. There's still one more problem, it doesn't have a s pen. Those who haven't used one will never understand why s pen should keep so difference between a note and s device. Just hope I find all the features with note 6. cz I want a edge display and a note together as specs as s7 edge does. 😋
Explain to me what the Galaxy Edge series does that a flat phone can't? I feel all the features the edge has can easily be ported and used on any flat phone. To me the edge is still a gimmick.

S6 edge with 128gb for $100 cheaper or S7 edge 32gb? thoughts?
Having had the S6, the battery life is dismal compared to the S7/Edge, and the lag is bad after a month or two. The S6 Edge+ with 4GB RAM had no lag after 4 months, and I expect the same from the S7 since it has 4GB RAM and less bloat. I would get the S7 and save for a micro SD if you need the additional space.
Thanks for the input, I have the HTC one (very first model), and it's been so bad, battery life sucks, the camera shoots a weird purple for some reason and reception is horrible(or maybe its T-Mobile?)
