      i find the back button in samsung better than the others because it's easier if you grab the phone with one hand to hit the back button...

    • @Omar00L
      @Omar00L 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kelly Lee i know i just confirmed what you said...the big flaws for me :
      the finger prints is a big flaw...very big flaw...the glass on the back is the worst thing samsung ever made i have note 5 and fingerprints always piss me off...i know it's premium but you can do premium with metal like other phones...when you use your phone in a coffee always people see finger prints like seeing you having a dirty phone...
      the speaker place too i always cut the sound when playing games because my finger touch speaker place...

    • @KellyLee1998

      Omar Ben Sassi I ordered a new gold s7 the other day and just waiting for its arrival and I must say, I highly did prefer the plastic backs of the galaxies. But it really shouldn't matter if you put a case on it??

    • @Omar00L
      @Omar00L 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      a case kills the design...what's the point of having a great design and thin phone if you put a case on it...
      good choice for the s7 but i prefer big screens so i am waiting for the next note 6 who will be called the note 7 because they will skip a number to keep up with s series...with usb type C and iris scanner,ip68 and sd card slot...,6gb of ram ...the note 6/7 will kill all phones...it's worth the 2 months waiting

      +GoWILD tbh, at this point, what your more comfortable is what you've been using on your Android device the whole time. However your natural resting position of your thumb generally is closer to the left side of the phone.

      uh no having to extend my thumnb over to the left is stupid for the back button. Anyway most users when they hold there phone the thumb is always in a bending motion ready to press the back button everytime i try to press the left button i also have to move my fingers behind the phone to get my thumb to extend to the button

    • @beautybyRonja
      @beautybyRonja 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I feel like both ways are right (I personally prefer the back button on the right side) and that's why it is stupid that there is only one option. I have LG G3 and with the buttons on the screen, you can choose which way you would like to place the them! That is a very nice feauture to have! I know that it doesn't work with a phone, where the buttons aren't on the screen, but Android phones being so customizable to begin with, where do we need those "physical" buttons anyway?

    • @Asterius_101
      @Asterius_101 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      But you can't really hold a wireless charger in your hands, though. It's too bulky and doesn't magnetically attach to the phone.

    Fingerprints! - Get a skin/case
    It feels weird to handle! - Get a case
    It slides and rocks! - Get a case
    The speaker sucks! - It's either you get a good speaker or the phone won't be waterproof, use a bluetooth speaker ffs.
    The app organization sucks! - Get a app to fix that? Like the Nova launcher/client?
    There's too much bloatware! - There's ways to delete it chill out.

    • @deadc0w536
      @deadc0w536 7 ปีที่แล้ว +60

      ...... that isnt the point. The goal of a smartphone manufacturer isn't to make a phone that you have to buy a bunch of extras for to make it sufficient. It should be amazing out of the box, having to buy a case, a bluetooth speaker, put a launcher on your phone and go through and delete a bunch of apps manually is stuff that shouldn't be necessary and that is the ultimate goal...
      so shut up lmao, he is chill you are just being a dick and a troll

    • @Saphrosyne.
      @Saphrosyne. 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Seth King But it is the point. Most people buy cases anyway to protect their phone, and I usually just use headphones instead of my speaker. If you think it's a lot of work to delete a couple apps then I think you need to get over it. There isn't really much wrong with the S7 Edge.

    • @filipradulovic337
      @filipradulovic337 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      And what about glass design which breaks easily? Get a cover? Yeah, and again it breaks so easy.

    • @deadc0w536
      @deadc0w536 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Turtlenoodle AJ you're blind if you think that is an excuse.
      It's laziness. "Oh we could make a metal jacket phone that has waterproof front firing speakers and instead of a 7mm thin phone make it thicker and have kick ass battery.. but fuck it lets make it fragile and hard to hear and thin as fuck so people will spend extra money." THAT is why we don't have the perfect smartphone. designers saving money by making people spend more money to feel safe with a beneath the bar phone.
      so no, it isn't the point. being fragile and bloated is plenty reason not to buy it (I still would buy it but some won't). We could easily have the ultimate smartphone every year from samsung or apple or huawei or htc or whoever the fuck feels like giving us what we ask for. what we are paying for.

    No, Samsung's button placements are 100% right! I had a Moto G for 2 years, with the back button on the left and multitask one on the right. Once I got my Oneplus 3, I immediately changed the settings to off screen buttons with the back button on the right. Feels better.

    Very very minor flaws like he said. The back button issue is silly, i used a Note 4 the last two years so if you are already on Samsung then switch to this, it's not a flaw lol...why should they switch their button placement to please people who use different Android devices? Also, the app drawer issue is silly, the beauty of Android is that most people won't even use Touch Wiz. I switch straight to Nova Launcher out the box, you can move the app drawer button where you want and make the app drawer do what you want. It's android people, all of this besides the back button can be customized

      button placement should be the across Android. it discredits Android as an os for something as simple as that to be inconsistent and since Samsung is NOT the best or most official Android manufacturer they should follow suit of stock Android. it makes perfect sense.

    the back button should remain on the right hand side. Samsung is doing it right. Most people are right handed and the back button is used more frequently than the app switch button. so it will be difficult to reach the back button with your thumb if it's on the left side.

      Honestly, you'll adjust after a few days regardless of where the buttons are placed. When I used an HTC ONE M7 I didn't have a problem with the power button placement at the top left, nor did I have a problem with the weird capacitive home button placement. I adjusted. Switching to the Note 4, I adjusted again to button placements that I thought and still think are weird.

      +Marv3Lthe1 I totally agree, I reconfigured all my Lollipop devices with the screen buttons to have the back button on the right. My G4 broke and I'm using an Asus AT&T pre paid phone as a temporary phone, and having the back button fixed on the left is just a pain.

      +Dylan Smith As an HTC One M8 user, the biggest thing for me that is wrong with this phone is the speaker (which he only points out with text).
      I really like the S7 Edge and want to move over to it eventually, but considering the ONLY problem I have with my M8 is that the camera sucks, if the 10 has a better camera (I don't need anything crazy good, but better than the current one) I will not be leaving HTC just because of the amazing boom speakers.
      I don't need that external speakers or need to even plug into my car to get amazing sound which are to only get better supposedly with the new model coming out. I just want three major things in my phone. Great speakers, good camera and long battery life. I get two of these things out of my M8 and the speakers are more important to my use than the camera.

    Let me explain why the back button is on the right (the right side). The average user operates the phone one handed with his/her right hand. So imagine you're holding the phone in your right palm and want to go back, what finger would you use? Thumb, you say? what's closest to your thumb without causing awkward accidental touches? I rest my case.

    • @ha1vorsen
      @ha1vorsen 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I prefer back on right and multitask on left, it took a little bit of getting used to coming from other phones but this set up makes more sense for right handed single handed use, the right side it much easier to reach and back is used much more often than multitask.
    Also apps icons that end in the back of the drawer at first I though it was a nuisance but when you try out a lot of apps and remove them it's easier to find them. I do dislike that horizontal scrolling of the app drawer though.
    My biggest flaw of the s7(edge) and the reason I won't be upgrading from my s6 is no IR Blaster, it is such a useful feature I use so much every day (always lose the remote but never my phone)

    Tip for ALL android users: You can get an app called smart launcher which gives the home screen a more tidier and neat look and also seperates your apps into:
    Communication (social media, phone etc.)
    Internet (Google, and some social media apps [don't ask why])
    Games
    Media (TH-cam, Twitch etc.)
    Utility (Calculator, Google Translate etc.)
    and Settings.
    Just something to think about if you hate the standard home and app sorting

    • @intensiveishere

      Unless you have tiny thumbs it's more natural for right handed people to reach for a back button the left side.

    • @nextlifeonearth
      @nextlifeonearth 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Berkin Ozkaynak It's about as easy to reach in the bottom left since you don't have to bend your thumb in weird ways, you can keep it straight(unlike the bottom right).
      It's preference and has nothing to do with which hand you use. Even if it were true, where is the left handed model? About 25% of the customers should be left handed so why would they leave those out? They should have just made it customisable, like all phone OS makers with an understanding of user experience

    I don't get the people saying having it on the right is more accessible for right handed people. Are you dumb, or do you have freakishly small hands/fingers?
    Back goes on the left side since it's more accessible for right handed people. Not that I use it as much as multitasking, since I have an entire touchscreen to press "back" on, but still.
    When you hold your phone, your thumb goes almost all the way across to the left side. How is that convenient when you put the back button to the right as well?

    I decided to go with the S7, not the edge, for just one particular reason: My heel of hand is bigger than usual. I've had the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact prior to the S7, and even though it doesn't have a curved display, I always blocked the lower right edge of the screen. Now, I know that Samsung tried hard to fix this kind of problem with a special software update, but I heard from various S7 edge owners, that the problem is still very present. Since I don't really mind the bigger display or the larger battery, the S7 is just the PERFECT smartphone for me!

    most people are right handed. and the thing is that you use the back button more often than the multitasking. it's easier to reach the back button if you are holding the phone in your right hand. and Samsung have always been having the back button on the right side and multitasking/options button on left side. do not judge samsung

I've been using only Samsdung phones to date (from the Ace to the S3 mini to the S4 mini, planning on getting the S7) and I HATE it whenever I have to use another phone without that button placement! I use the "back" button way more than the function button, and since I'm left-handed it's just so convenient for one-handed use.

    2:10 Most of the people are right handed and it's a large phone, so it's harder to keep it in one hand and always be clicking on the left button with your finger to go back. It's more often used button so that's why they put it on the right side, so it can be closer and easier to use.

  • @trevgev
    @trevgev 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Once you make the switch to the right-hand side back button it makes a lot of sense. Most people are right-handed and use the back button way more than the tab button, and it's much easier to reach with the thumb. Of course, Marques seems to have pretty long digits, and he uses different phones all the time. In those cases, the button placement is at best inconvenient.
