spartan doesn't look in bad condition?

It has only 600 miles on it.
So it's basically a new unit.

My 1st time was a Lincoln Lock. this diff has been gone into before.

I've had more that one with the Lincoln Locker.
For off road only, it's great.

Not sure if there is a difference, but my powertrax locker instruction book says to keep the side thrust washers

Yes there is a difference in different manufacturers.
I used Aussie brand lockers and they require the thrust washers be retained. I think the lock rite brand does also.
Spartans definitely say to remove the thrust washers.
      I appreciate the question

Powertrax aren't spartan locker. Spartan lockers don't require thrust washers.

good video. i've run the spartans in my old cherokee, but i sold it before owning for a year. now, in my taco, i'm thinking of doing the same. do you have any feedback on long term drivability?

      Thank you.
Yes, I've run lunch box lockers in my offroad vehicles for years. Spartans are my new favorite because they are the best price. However their design is exactly like a Lockrite. Between those 2 brands I've had years of on and off road experience and the durability and longevity is impressive. I've never had an issue.

      I appreciate the support.

when welding the rear end, I just welded the spider gears to the cross bar. is that good enough or should I take the spider and cross bar out and just weld the side gears to the case? thanks. its off road only.

I have always welded the spider gears to the case.
I leave it complete and weld all 4 gears to the case.
I've never tried it any other way.

Do you have a part number for the locker you used?

    8” differential or 8.4”?

The one I do in the video is 8".
The 8.4" is done the same way.
Only difference in the 8.4" is the truss across the bearing caps.
