    Thanks for laying out your thought process so simply here. I just bought an a6300 and a few lenses. I've never really done proper, non-phone photography before with the exception of sophomore year about 12 years ago and while I have been reading up on it and getting a grasp on basic fundamental aspects, the way you explain your step by step assessment of any given photo has been quite helpful. Thinking of and adjusting these three main functions in a logical order is absolutely the best way for a beginner like me to learn what the camera is doing when an adjustment is made and how I can get what I want from a camera instead of just settling for whatever auto mode decides to give me. Thanks a lot, man.

    Very cognizant observations. Never knew 3 iso stops is = to about an f stop. Greetings from Thailand.

    • @horsetom10
      @horsetom10 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Flash in the majority of camera is in ⅓ steps e.g. starting from 100 ISO it's next click is ISO 125, next click is ISO 160, and the third click is ISO 200 which from ISO 100 to ISO 200 is 1 f stop. Each click is ⅓ of a stop so 3 clicks = 1 fstop. Hope that helps you.

    Thank you for a good video. I just want to comment that the reason when you drop your shutter speed and did not see much different (brighter) in the background is because your background is so close to the subject and therefore get good lighting from the flash. In the real world situation, with the background so far away, it will not be lit by the flash and therefore will be brighter as you drop the shutter speed as you have shown. Thank you.

    Just a noob and haven’t purchased yet, but your videos have given me the confidence that I will enjoy using the a6000. This was particularly helpful. I’d like to add that Thomas Shahan did a video on macro in which he used a piece of paper sandwiched between two pieces of plastic that served to diffuse the light from the flash (Pentax) when outdoors. I’m sure it would only work for closer subjects, but I wonder if something similar might work in shadow or late day at about 35mm and specifically on the a6000. I’m seeking ways to make the a6000 all the more affordable for me. Again, great stuff and getting a lot from your channel.

    Watched the full manual control video a while back to get a grasp of manual shooting since I never chose photography courses in school. I even took notes on that video, I Learned it, and consider myself fairly experienced now. Was wondering if the flash if was useful, just wanted to say that when beginning this video, I got the weirdest stepping back into the classroom feeling. Thanks for these videos, free education.

    Dude... you are great. I'm always on the negative side when flash is needed. I don't like it. But... I think I'm gonna try those tips right now... I bought a cheap Sony NEX 5R and kit lens are bad in low light situations.
