Great content! Here's a summary of the advices:
    1. Avoid eye level, it's boring - go low, change composition
    2. Camera movement - move in / high / side, or go very low. Imagine the camera on gimbal or slide and replicate that move with your hands. Detail shots, experiment with frame rates (slowmo).
    3. Link your shots - lock focus, end /start the frame on blury background for seemless transition to wide shot or detail
    4. Check horizon - incorporate horizon to your shots for sense of depth and viewer orientation
    5. Timelapse - creative way to liven up your video with interesting movement (grass, clouds...)
    6. Lighting - play with light (reveal the sun, use flickering thru leaves and lens flare)

Sir, the place where you record the video is already a beautiful place. Regardless a boring angle it still looks great. Please try some odd place and make us teach how to record even in a bad place.....eagrly waiting for that. Thank you!

Beginner: "Hey, look how I'm enjoying my vacation!"
Creative: "I'm filming a movie here!"
IMO the creative had a totally different atmosphere from a tourist on vacation. I'm Mr. Boring but I feel it would have much more "vacation/tourism spirit" depth with slower movement of the camera and more relaxing music rather than high beat dramatic one. :)
Thanks for the tips, those will be helpful

I have been watching your videos for a while now and I have been applying the techniques you show and my videos have gotten way better. I record my hiking and backpacking trips and looking at my footage now compared to a year ago is like night and day. I look at everything in a more creative way. Now I can take a somewhat boring shot and turn it into gold by adding different angles and movement. You are a great teacher and your videos are easy to put into practice and I look forward to watching more. Thanks Steve.

One of the best channels for learning how to shoot videos I have seen! I am a motion design student at uni for this semester (last subject for a Diploma of Graphic Design) and I am guilty of being the boring eye-level videographer! Not anymore, such great tips and that edit with sound you did and those great transitions was superb. Really grateful for this channel and your commitment to creating such instructive content. Awesome!

Nice video and great suggestions. One thing I would do differently here is try to keep the same kind of movements as mr boring. If he does a pan, show us how to make that pan shot more interesting instead of doing something completely different. If he walks forwards at eye level and moving the camera up and down with his motion, show us how to make a great push in or out shot that looks better. That way, I would feel like the examples where you switch between mr boring and great shots actually connect. Now it feels like you want to show us one thing and use a random different thing for mr boring. Still, I get the message and love your ideas. And that environment, while seemingly boring, it’s still looking great compared to where I live. All we have here is fields of grass. No rocks and very few trees. 😉
