I slapped a 15lbs captured guide rod from yall in my 5in FS PDP. I usually run 124g at the range and 147g Speer Gold Dot for home defense and cold weather carry. It seems to operate just fine, but am I taking a chance on reliability with the 15lbs spring? Ik any modification from stock incurs a chance of malfunction but would changing over to a 17lbs spring be best?
Ran 60 rounds today with the extra mass guide rod and 18 pound spring kick was not as much ran 115 ball and 68 grain Underwood extreme defense +p no problems . If this is mostly what I will be using should I go to a lighter spring?

I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO FAILURES. I shot 400 rounds today.. had no issues with accuracy, just a freaking dream to shoot today

Brass weighs 3 grams more and is Brass! Otherwise they are they same

Best idea is to buy out tuner pack of springs and experiment. I way of knowing with something modified like that.

It just takes a standard PDP guide rod so anything we make for standard PDP fit. Only the 3.5 is different

That should work for both as that's the OEM weight, but you can drop to a 17 for the +P and a 15 for the 115gn

For the steel frame, the long stroke makes a huge difference. It won’t damage the gun to run +p but it will reduce the service life of the spring.
