Fun fact about the table setting scene: when a bunch of solo singers come together singing their own individual verses is called a madrigal. The name of the family is the Madrigals
Lin Manuel Miranda created the songs in this movie, and he also created Hamilton, he is ammaaazinggg at creating music that defies genres, you should definitely react to more of his stuff!
@@bukayonosakadebanda7163 I'm pretty sure he or she wasn't just talking about the music in Encanto but his music as a whole being able to do what it does
You can hear the inspiration Hamilton provided in the final bit with everyone singing there own bit over each other like in non stop and how this ends with thunder like how some of the Hamilton songs end with gunshots in the same fashion. And yet this song still feels like it’s own thing. Lin-Manuel just smashed it yet again
Fun fact: Dolores is the quieter one in the song and Camilo is one of the loudest, is not confirmed but I've heard It's cause when people lie they tend to speak loudly so other people believe them, Camilo's verse is the one that holds the falsest things about Bruno while Dolores' is the more sympathetic towards him.
Someone said that Camilo is singing how he saw Bruno. Camilo was a little kid when Bruno left, and the way everyone was talking about Bruno while he was growing up has shaped his perspective on his uncle Bruno
Nah Dolores is just a quiet person due to her gift and her personality, and Camilo is simply a louder more extroverted person. He's having fun doing this and messing with his younger cousin as he tells all the creepy tales he's heard about Bruno growing up.
@THIS IS MEE yeah that’s what I thought, cause I think if she was to sing too loud it would hurt her ears, just how she talks softly. I love how the little details contribute to the characters,
@@happiness1464 I don't think the song is implying that Camilo is a liar, cuz then that would also imply Pepa and Felix were lying, they were just saying what they thought was the truth. Camilo's perspective is built off what he remembers of Bruno as a small kid (which is probs why he says 7ft tall cuz he probably looked big to lil Camilo). And after hearing other people's stories his perspective probably grew into Bruno being this big bad evil man.
I love how during Pepa and Felix's duet, her lines end on a high note that emphasizes her stress and fear, while Felix's lines end lower and more soothing. Everything he says is trying to look on the bright side of the memory and, though we don't get to see their past, I think that part of his personality is why she married him. Also, Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the songs for Encanto AND Moana. He's amazing.
I always got the feeling Felix was more excited and amazed by the possibility of getting married while a hurricane goes on in the background (he even sings it in "What a joyous day, but anyway") compared to Tía Pepa's nervous ramblings and fear. Man was so hyped, and still continues to be hyped about his wife, no matter what, and I think that's beautiful.
Pepa and Felix are easily my favorite part of the song. There is such a clear contrast in the personalities, but their love for eachother, and the way their personalities compliment each other is also clearly on display. While Pepa is panicking and on the verge of freaking out, Felix remains calm and cheerful throughout, and you can see him keeping her from tipping over the edge on several occasions. I also love that, while all she sees is the whole "married in a hurricane" part, Felix is just thrilled to be married to her and sees the whole thing as a fun story rather than a terrible tragedy.
Felix, the man in the couple, has one of the BEST voices in this particular song imo. The way he sings "go oooonnnnn~" is the most beautiful thing I have heard in my life
Personally, I think that “Time for dinner!” transition where everyone comes in and starts singing their individual verses is what made this song get so popular so fast. It just explodes my brain how Lin Manuel Miranda wrote so many verses, all with completely different tones and styles, and then at the end fits them together like a perfect jigsaw puzzle.I’m sure there are musical reasons that it works, but it blows my tiny mortal mind every time I hear it
I totally agree with you, that part is sick! Another thing that I think made it skyrocket like it did was camilos part, it's absurdly catchy, and the combo made the song blow up
I LOVE how Felix supports Pepa while she tells her story of their wedding day. He views it as the most beautiful day regardless of the hurricane because he ONLY sees Pepa.
Fun fact: Camilo’s voice actor (the curly guy that shapeshifts) is NOT a singer, this was his first time doing it, but he sounded so professional that everyone thought he was an expert.
An interesting thing, in Dolores' verse you can distinctly hear every little noise made by her moving. This either symbolizes her super hearing or implies we are hearing the song through her ears.
I think her steps are so loud because she's trying to cover up Bruno moving in the background. She has super hearing so she's making more noise than she usually would just in case.
Fun Fact: Dolores’s part is amplified to match her super hearing powers. You hear it as how she would: The fabric ruffling, the air swishing, and the sound of their steps.
I am standing by the statement that: "ARE YOU TELLING THE STORY, OR AM I!?" "I'm sorry, mi vida, go on." is the most realistic depiction of marriage in an animated film to date.
All the song in the movie are incredible. Also be prepared to WEEP at certain songs. They have genuinely moved me in a way I never expected. The writing and the production in those songs is stellar. Plus the movie is, really, magical.
I have such a huge crush on Felix and Pepa's relationship, the way they were drawn plus the absolute perfection of the voice actors, their scenes are just pure chemistry
@@qrstix3519 I mean I'd love to be able to just exist around them, basking in the glow of their love for each other. Y'know that giddy, light, smiling feeling people get around a crush, that's almost too much happy at once? That vibe, but with them as a couple.
Ikr This song is always on my mind… I CANT GET IT OUT HELP PLEASE Edit: how to get rid of drugs? Another edit: nah i changed my mind… it’s a good drug for me… it’s M E D I C I N E
The “time for dinner” then the merge of all their verses made this song sooo amazing. I think that’s what made the song so popular. It makes it sooo catchy
I love in this song that Isabella seems like she’s happy and she was the only one that got something good, until you realise later that she was actually bitter at her fate and was just able to hide it so well. This whole movie was amazing.
I thought Isabella was trying to reassure herself that she was promised a happy future. Her singing sounds wistful, but she's still holding onto her hope for the "life of her dreams"
It's funny cause she sings about basically a perfect future BUT, right after, we get Abuela singing 'oye Mariano's on his way' and later on we find out that THAT, marrying the guy would made her more miserable because she doesn't want to.
I think that her happiness in this song was genuine. Bruno always saw things people thought of as undesirable, so Isabela’s vision was probably about her not being perfect, or becoming wild, which funnily enough was an undesirable vision for everyone EXCEPT Isabela.
Exactly! My young daughter didn’t like Isabella at first (like she was a miss perfect) but I made her realize every other women in that family got to marry out of love while Isabella was scheduled for an arranged marriage to a man she didn’t love, used as merchandise because she was pretty.
Except she also misinterpreted it. Her power did indeed grow. And isabellas issue is that she is EXPECTED to be miss perfect. So she has to only do perfect things. She knows how to do flowers, so she only does flowers and doesn't try anything else because it won't be perfect. She is constrained, trapped. Which gives bits like her reaction to the "he wants 5 kids", when talking about a man that she doesn't even want to marry...
My absolute favorite part is “7 foot frame rats along his back when he calls your name it all fades to black” ugh I never can get enough! Goosebumps on goosebumps!
Me too! Love it. But I really want to know .... why was he running around with rats on his back?!? Or was that just an exaggeration? Because he also wasn't 7ft tall. So Camillos whole part was just made up.
Honestly, Disney's been knocking it out of the park when portraying genuine emotion in their characters. Especially in song. I think they got a lot of good practice with Frozen 2 and Moana. Show Yourself from Frozen 2 and How Far I'll Go & I am Moana from Moana are great key examples.
These Disney musicals make me wish they had made Raya a musical, especially since we Filipinos would be singing the songs all the time at the karaoke bars. (She's Southeast Asian--she's our Disney princess!)
My mind still can't process the part when they all sing together, it's like a lot of feelings fusing to create an unusual but perfect harmony. It's too good. My ears can't get used to it yet.
The most awesome thing is, not only did they made the characters dance very accurately as done in Colombia, but each one of the characters "sings" in a different rythm from Colombia. They thus respond to the main theme of the song "in their own way". This is thus a Madrigal, a polyphonic song from the renaissance featuring two to eight, usually six, voices. :) They really nailed it with this one.
I noticed that each character shares thoughts about Bruno through their own lens. Camillo, the shapeshifter, describes Bruno's physical proportions and features and the rats down his back, while emphasizing Bruno's spooky side. Dolores, who can hear impossibly well and struggles with the secrets she overhears, describes the sounds she associates with Bruno and the burden of Bruno's gift of Prophecy and hints that he's still around. Pepa (who struggles with her emotions and how they influence the weather) and Felix (who, as his name indicates, tries to be cheerful and sooth her) in the beginning describe Bruno's effects on them and the sort of butterfly effect that sends them spiralling into emotional turmoil and stormy weather. The "poor, provincial" townfolk bring up their own warnings and little concerns like dying goldfish, growing guts, losing hair as grand drama. Flower-growing Isabella's self-centered focus and obsession with perfection and growth means that she's the only one who had a positive prophecy from Bruno, and yet she still isn't happy, and her lines are contrasted with her sister Luisa, whose super strength is seemingly fading (probably due to her own inability to rest and relax and her fears of worthlessness and needing to be more for the town and family). Meanwhile, Abuela is bringing Mariano to the house for the engagement dinner and trying to make sure everything goes according to plan, leaving powerless Mirabel to first become more determined to find out more about Bruno and his prophecy about her and then have the horrible realization that it might be confirming her own worst fears about destroying her family, the magical casita where they live, and their magical gifts. (sorry for the long post... this has been on my mind for a couple weeks)
That’s an excellent analysis of the song! IMO, I’ve always thought that the reason Isabela isn’t happy with her prophecy is that she interpreted it as her living the life of her family’s dreams- perfect Isabela being the perfect next head of the household and leading a new generation of Madrigals, which she never really wanted. The choice of comparing her powers to a fruit-bearing plant specifically could easily be seen as a metaphor for children, especially since Isabela really only grew flowers and vines up until that point, so she could have assumed that’s what it meant, and been upset because she didn’t necessarily want that. That was my interpretation, at least.
@@emmagrace8938 Oooh, I hadn't considered that perspective! Especially with the family tree literally on display in the dining room, your take really puts Isabela's attitude into perspective! Thank you for chiming in!
@@mjmage33 no problem! I love discussing this movie so much because I just keep finding new little things that make me appreciate it more! I especially feel that these characters are among the most human that Disney has made in a long time, they all feel like they have strengths and weaknesses and goals that make them unique and understandable as people, I love it!
This is, by far, one of Disney’s top songs, period. Better than Let It Go, better than A Whole New World and many other Disney songs. Mostly because this isn’t a traditional operatic or swelling ballad, but an actual banger you can legit play on the radio.
I really like how a lot of the characters' accents (especially Félix's) make their voices sound more percussive because instead of saying the "z" sound in the middle of phrases (ex. "cloudz in the sky") they say "cloudS" and it just adds texture
This song btw just passed the "Let It Go" record (from Frozen) as the biggest Disney hit since '95! As it should; ICONIC! You must watch the "Surface Pressure" video now! My other favorite song from Encanto & it's popular as well!
Also, I love the small detail that Isabella, the flowery sister who had the positive prophecy from Bruno was the only one who sung in major. Everyone else was in minor. And how they made that work and all blend together was nothing short of genius and amazing talent.
Something that shock me was that all of Bruno's prophecies in this song are somehow bad or misunderstood. Even Isabella's prophecy. Bruno did not know that Isabella was not happy with her life, so "the life of her dreams" were the expectations that Abuela and her family had of her.
Camilo's part constantly gets stuck in my head and now he's one of my favorites. Him and Mirabel are tied and he only had 9 minutes of screen time this song is a curse
I love how Dolores part is not only her rapping whispering but also you can hear her and Maribels loud steps while dancing and other sounds, like how Dolores hears things.
Also I found this out from another reaction video and her first solo in the song if you look closely on the second floor you can see Bruno walking along and then bobbing his head
It's so fun to watch a person's genuine reaction to something like this. "Encanto" was love at first sight for me too, so it's a blast seeing it through another person's eyes. 🇨🇴💗
I love how you described it as magical without knowing anything about the movie, the choir at the end is literally named Madrigal, which the director choosed as the family name because it sounds similar to "magical"
I think one of the reasons why this song is so appealing it's because it's more of a Broadway song rather than a Disney song. From the choreography to the way their voices mix together, to the solo parts, it all mixes in a way that makes this song apt to the stage of a theatre. You can really recognize the hand of a person who wrote multiple award-winning Broadway musicals in here (and throughout the whole movie, to be honest).
Some ideas Beyoncé's performance at Cobe Briant funeral React to Nicki Minaj verses at "Dip" and "New body" React to Rosalia "Malamente" " A pale" and "BAGDAD" or her album "El Mal Querer" React to brazilians artists like anitta, pabllo vittar, luiza sonza, gloria groove and others Hope u like my ideas❤️
I like that the family's last name is Madrigal, and this song is a type of madrigal, where everyone has their own part that different, and it all comes together for a cohesive whole. Technically I think true madrigals are acapella, though.
I like how Dolores says "I associate him with the sound of falling sand" because his room has sand falling all the time, and it would be almost impossible to go out of his room without getting sand on yourself, and since Dolores has super hearing she would be able to hear the sand falling
I recommend an artist called Aurora, the songs I recommend are: “Runaway” , “Queendom” , “The seed”, “It happened quiet (live at nidarosdomen), “Murder song (5,4,3,2,1) , “cure for me” and “infections of a different kind”.
The is the watermark of Lin Manuel Miranda! Giving each character meaning & depth while the lyrics of the song push the story forward. Also his classic style of layering several songs on top of each other at a pinnacle point is heard here. He does this in Hamilton & In The Heights as well. All 3 excellent soundtracks! Storyteller extraordinaire!!!!
Not only are the lyrics and beats clever and satisfying, BUT even the STYLE of this song is a direct reference/reflection of the story. The style of the song is a Madrigal...just like the name of the family, and the overlapping styles, narratives, and beats represent how a family is a bunch of different people who are still connected, and all an important part of the whole, despite being so different. And that it is inevitably going to be chaos, but it can be a chaos that makes something beautiful. It's just PERFECT.
I've watched "We don't talk about Bruno" probably like 100 times by now between individual personal views or watching reactions or whatever, and it just now hit me that when tío Felix goes "THUNDER!" the thunder you hear in the background is due to Pepa getting absolutely furious that he keeps interrupting, so Felix is like "oh shit" and immediately apologizes to get her back in a good mood. And it's not like it comes out of nowhere either, you can see her steadily getting angrier and angrier lol First time Felix interrupts she just kinda side-eyes him but keeps on going. Second time she gives him a slap on the shoulder and the pursed lips. Then the third time she's just had enough and literally storms off. Amazing storytelling
Lin Manuel Miranda is a musical genius as far as I'm concerned. Funny, I had no idea he was involved in this, but I loved the music so much that, of course, I had to look it up. When I found out he wrote all the music, I thought I should've known immediately he had a hand in it. I love everything he does. His songs are always so mesmerizing.
Lin Manuel Miranda is the composer... He has done this mash up 3 times already. Hamilton / In the Heights / Encanto... He's a modern day genius that totally deserves the recognition. 2 Oruguitas is also amazing! It's his first ever song written completely in Spanish... It's beautiful!
I just noticed- when Isabela said “Hey sis, I want not a sound out of you” the beat in the background is lighter and higher just like her voice and then when Mirabel sings a moment afterward it smoothly transitions into a deeper beat just like her voice- 👁👄👁
That part where Camilo drops here into that hole and she has to walk through the corridor to get outside is amazing. As shes walking by each character, that certain characters voice amplifies above the others, as if we are mirabel and we are in the corridor Its amazing!
The behind the scenes footage for this is absolutely incredible! The choreographers and dancers did such a fantastic job; it was all done in one take. Once in skin tight clothing so the animators could see the movements and another time with skirts and flowy clothing so they could get the material movement right. It's insane to see it done in real life and then see it animated! This entire movie is next level animation and music wise!
I'm so happy you got to find this and seeing your joy as you go through this? Super nice. If you did the whole movie in chunks as a react it would be lovely - if you just want to focus on enjoying the movie that would be wonderful too! I think this was a wonderful react an I'm so glad you got to go into it knowing nothing so you could be blown away even harder. Also yes seriously all the animation is just so gorgeous and Pepa (the lady in the hurricane) is just so *chef's kiss*
I love how Dolores sings is related to her power. She has ultra powerful hearing so most of her singing is at a whisper level, much quieter in contrast to the others. Plus I’m addicted to her part, she nailed it. Awesome video too!😍😍
Basically it's always the same chords over and over again and the characters sing different melodies to these chords. That way it almost automatically fits together but this is just pure perfection by Miranda, I love this so much!!
I just found your channel and I'm LOVING your reactions (Pentatonix are insane right?! 😂). I would definitely suggest you check out "Surface Pressure" sung by Jessica Darrow, and "Coloumbia Mi Encanto" sung by Carlos Vives (both from are Encanto). Jessica Darrow's song is low key a bop! And also showcases some really cool voice acting in how the singer is able to express changes in emotion during the song (and she has an incredible range too!). And Carlos Vives' song is just SO fun you won't be able to sit still. We gotta see some dance moves and shimmying from ya! 😂🙌❤ New subbie here for sure! Keep up the awesome and genuine reactions my man.
This might be one of my favorite reaction videos for this song ever. I feel like the Pepa and Felix section at the top doesn't get enough love usually. As a musician, you get how special that duet is. Nicely done.
There's a reason it's stuck in everyone's head and so many are obsessed with it. The animation in the full movie is just gorgeous. And the music - I mean it's Lin-Manuel Miranda, so... Far as I'm concerned, LMM is on the same level as the likes of Mozart and Beethoven. I'd stake my music degree on that.
rhenzy, wow. the fact he is NOT a singer and this is his first time singing is incredible. he has such a smooth yet raspy voice somehow and I love it. if theres ever a sequal to encanto, I think rhenzy definitely needs his own song, or at least a verse in a song thats longer than the one he has. (rhenzy is camilo’s voice actor btw)
My favorite part of the song is where the family sings “Time for dinner” in unison, splits up to repeat their individual previous verses, and then rejoins at the end to repeat the title once and then again in between Mirabel singing
You need to react to Surface Pressure from the same film. Brilliant too! Such an unusual theme for Disney too. A warning though, both these songs are such earworms! You will have them roaming round your brain for a week!
Every song from this movie is amazing! You’re totally going to love the movie and afterwards anytime you hear the soundtrack it’s like re-watching it in your head! I loved this reaction!!! Thanks Nicholas!
It’s like an orchestra of voices, and I imagine the director is the conductor, pointing his baton at each person as they come in with their voice/character. I really enjoyed this reaction!
Fun fact! This song has the Madrigals singing a madrigal at the end which is a style of music. Its so well done and it speaks of Lins talent as well as all the voice actors
Awww! The fact that you became invested in the emotions and storytelling from the SONG alone, without knowing the movie's plot - it speaks to how well Lin-Manuel Miranda crafted the lyrics (and how well the vocalists carried the words) ❤ The movie is absolutely worth the watch!
When they all start singing together I always get goosebumps. All of their voices compliment each other and I just love this song SO MUCH!! Definitely one my favourites if not my favourite song in the movie.
I see a lot if not everyone recommending “Surface Pressure” next with is a definite must but I don’t see a lot of “Waiting on a Miracle” or “What Else Can I Do?” which are incredible as well and pull at your soul in different ways! All the songs are incredible! Why not just do a compilation reaction to ALL THE SONGS!!!
That’s blend of all the different parts of the songs is the Lin Manuel special. He does it in Hamilton (Non Stop) and In The Heights (96,000). He’s nothing short of a genius !
Fun fact: many people tend to hear “Why did he tell usss” in pepa’s and felix’s part but if you listen closely you can’t hear the “sss” because he said “why did he tell her” implying that bruno shouldn’t have told pepa the one with the emotions controlling the weather when he could have told Felix so they wouldn’t have ruined their wedding
You can clearly hear the "S" he just prolongs it "Why did he tell uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus" You can hear the S when the girl Pepe says In doing So she floods my brain, when she says SO you can hear the S
It's "why did he tell us" because that rhymes with "abuela get the umbrellas" and that kind of rhyming is a signature of Lin Manuel Miranda. they don't give those genius grants to everybody.
This is easily the best Disney animation in ages. There's a wonderful depth in this film Disney flicks don't usually have. It deals with generational trauma & dysfunctional family dynamics so well. Bruno is essentially the scapegoat of the family. And yes, the madrigal at the end, with the overlapping singing & late clunking is fire.
Bro your reactions to these songs had me like he appreciated these tracks so great..even without seeing the movie because I saw the film and I was the same way, and it's freaking animated Disney really got this one top notch..beautiful reactions bro..
Lin Manuel Miranda is a master of his craft, I can't even comprehend how he managed to write this song without everything clashing in all the wrong ways
Some of my favorite things that shows in this song is the way Felix dances right at 1:00 is the same way Antonio danced at the party. During the wedding scene, the priest, has no hair. which he then reveals AFTER the wedding scene And when they are telling Mirabell about the wedding, even though she's clearly a bit taken aback, her shoulders are still moving with the music! During the end where they all circle Mirabell and sing, Isabella's lyrics change, and Luisa is there, even though she had no part in the song! ok ok im done now but AHHH this movie is my hyperfixation rn
When Dolores sings her part, Bruno is in the background jamming to the song about him. He starts off scuttling and then you see him bobbing his head before the scene changes. Lmao
As a queer person and an hobby animator, I can confirm: all these people are ridiculously beautiful. All the women are gorgeous (elegant in abuela’s case) and the dudes are incredibly aesthetically pleasing. The animation overall was incredible, especially because it felt… doughier than most animation. More fluid in their facial expressions; almost more cartoony. The exaggerations are incredible
This movie should be awarded even with a Tony because what a Musical ! If there was a category for Musicals in motions, this one has to be a winner of each one lol
In that final chorus. its really hard to hear cause Dolores is so quiet but you can hear her singing. "Grew to live in fear of Bruno stuttering or stumbling, I can always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling, I associate him with the sound of fallen sand. Tss, Tss, Tss." "It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling, always left Abuela and the family fumbling grappling with prophecies they couldnt understand."
I honestly recommend the whole soundtrack and of course the movie! There is so much underlying emotion and subtext. I would love to see you react to the other songs 🥺
I’ve watched a lot (and there are a lot!) of reactions to “We Don’t Talk about Bruno” - yours is the most joyous. I have a feeling I’ll be watching it a few more times. Thank you.
Seeing this man vibe to this song as much as I do GIVES ME LIFE lol. Also the look of awe on his face at 4:50 when the song shifts to Isabella was literally me when I saw this for the first time. Edit: okay if this man made a film reaction channel I would totally watch it like yes please do I love movies
When you watch the movie just be warned there is a lot of **EMOTIONAL DAMAGE** from familial trauma. I cried so much and was going through all the stages of grief. I was also attacked with how much it was like my life growing up. It even highlighted some of my coping mechanisms. ( T_T ) but its such an amazing movie! HIGHLY RECOMMEND WATCHING!

I LOVE how Felix supports Pepa while she tells her story of their wedding day. He views it as the most beautiful day regardless of the hurricane because he ONLY sees Pepa.
Insightfully spoken.
It's a joyous day but anyway... because marrying the right woman will never be a bad day.
Fun fact: Camilo’s voice actor (the curly guy that shapeshifts) is NOT a singer, this was his first time doing it, but he sounded so professional that everyone thought he was an expert.
❤😍
I believe they didn't even use autotune for his verse
I would listen to a full album by him easily 🤷🏻♀️ I love his voice 😍
I'm sure he got some professional training in preparation for the part.
@@Laramaria2 SAMEE
An interesting thing, in Dolores' verse you can distinctly hear every little noise made by her moving. This either symbolizes her super hearing or implies we are hearing the song through her ears.
I think her steps are so loud because she's trying to cover up Bruno moving in the background. She has super hearing so she's making more noise than she usually would just in case.
That's the same thing lol
@@fivemoreminutes648 nono, its more like her hearing is so insanely good that the sounds that she may not hear the sounds that she herself makes
Also, you can only hear those in the vevo, in the actual movie it doesn't have those
i saw somewhere that dolores just whispher because even her own voice it too loud for her
Fun Fact: Dolores’s part is amplified to match her super hearing powers. You hear it as how she would: The fabric ruffling, the air swishing, and the sound of their steps.

It reminds me of “non stop” in hamilton
You mean, when the Madrigals sang in a madrigal?
I AGREE, literally my favorite part about this song
Same here, I love how he tries to make Bruno sound like a horror villain
Yeah I love that part the most he also shape shifts to show how he might looks like green villan thing
Me too! Love it. But I really want to know .... why was he running around with rats on his back?!?
Or was that just an exaggeration? Because he also wasn't 7ft tall. So Camillos whole part was just made up.
@@aishabigbee7977 the 7 foot was exaggerated, the rats weren’t because he did actually have rats all over him

(sorry for the long post... this has been on my mind for a couple weeks)
good explanation, but he hasn't seen the movie yet and probably wants to do so without getting spoiled :/
Thats cool but i read only 2 lines
This is, by far, one of Disney’s top songs, period. Better than Let It Go, better than A Whole New World and many other Disney songs. Mostly because this isn’t a traditional operatic or swelling ballad, but an actual banger you can legit play on the radio.
I’m pretty sure this song has surpassed “let it go” on the billboard top 100s and in sales to the Disney company 😱

I really like how a lot of the characters' accents (especially Félix's) make their voices sound more percussive because instead of saying the "z" sound in the middle of phrases (ex. "cloudz in the sky") they say "cloudS" and it just adds texture

When the different parts come together that make a melody is called a “Madrigal” :)
I like that the family's last name is Madrigal, and this song is a type of madrigal, where everyone has their own part that different, and it all comes together for a cohesive whole. Technically I think true madrigals are acapella, though.
Yes, and Mirabel, seemingly without a gift, is the conductor. The one who keeps it all on time and in harmony.
I'm so glad someone else noticed that!! They harmonize like a madrigal!
yessss you should check out the rest of the songs. they’re amazing.

The table scene where the voices overlap over each other is just so addicting
And it's not like it comes out of nowhere either, you can see her steadily getting angrier and angrier lol
First time Felix interrupts she just kinda side-eyes him but keeps on going. Second time she gives him a slap on the shoulder and the pursed lips. Then the third time she's just had enough and literally storms off. Amazing storytelling
Now surface pressure from Encanto. You're gonna get crazy! 🖤

He's genuinely so skilled and talented. Like a standout of our time. The way he structures his songs and writes his lyrics always blows my mind.
As shes walking by each character, that certain characters voice amplifies above the others, as if we are mirabel and we are in the corridor
Its amazing!
I love how during Isabella's part, Mirabel just looks so done
"I'm sorry, mi vida, go onnnnnnnn~" this is my fav part of the song i love the way he sings this
You really should make a movie reaction for this one, it is primarily music anyway :) Lin is simply one of the best musical writers
I love how Dolores sings is related to her power. She has ultra powerful hearing so most of her singing is at a whisper level, much quieter in contrast to the others. Plus I’m addicted to her part, she nailed it. Awesome video too!😍😍
Also during Dolores' part the background noises are super loud - giving the viewer her perspective.
His voice is honey over gravel....

Yeah, Surface pressure is great and all but We Don't Talk About Bruno is a MASTERPIECE with a musical theater vibe.
Dude you get it. Lost it when Delores started singing. Sick chills throughout.
The way you’re describing your love for this song is genuinely giving me goosebumps.
The captions literally say “why did he tell us” and the captions are not automatically generated
You can clearly hear the "S" he just prolongs it
"Why did he tell uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus"
You can hear the S when the girl Pepe says In doing So she floods my brain, when she says SO you can hear the S
Forgot to add that you can hear the same when he says abuella get the umbrellaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaS
It's "why did he tell us"
because that rhymes with "abuela get the umbrellas" and that kind of rhyming is a signature of Lin Manuel Miranda.
they don't give those genius grants to everybody.
You definitely need to watch the movie, it's a ✨ masterpiece✨
Bro your reactions to these songs had me like he appreciated these tracks so great..even without seeing the movie because I saw the film and I was the same way, and it's freaking animated Disney really got this one top notch..beautiful reactions bro..
Lin Manuel Miranda is a master of his craft, I can't even comprehend how he managed to write this song without everything clashing in all the wrong ways
Some of my favorite things that shows in this song is the way Felix dances right at 1:00 is the same way Antonio danced at the party.
During the wedding scene, the priest, has no hair. which he then reveals AFTER the wedding scene
And when they are telling Mirabell about the wedding, even though she's clearly a bit taken aback, her shoulders are still moving with the music!

Lmao
I saw that I was laughing when he was bobbing his head
As a queer person and an hobby animator, I can confirm: all these people are ridiculously beautiful. All the women are gorgeous (elegant in abuela’s case) and the dudes are incredibly aesthetically pleasing. The animation overall was incredible, especially because it felt… doughier than most animation. More fluid in their facial expressions; almost more cartoony. The exaggerations are incredible

The music was written by the guy who did Hamilton. He’s got so much talent.
That's why I noticed something from the song Satisfied 🤔
In that final chorus. its really hard to hear cause Dolores is so quiet but you can hear her singing.
"Grew to live in fear of Bruno stuttering or stumbling, I can always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling, I associate him with the sound of fallen sand. Tss, Tss, Tss."
"It's a heavy lift with a gift so humbling, always left Abuela and the family fumbling grappling with prophecies they couldnt understand."
