Thank you for this. I don't own any of their products, but I'm confused which to buy. They offer Lunar AI and Lunar Neo as a bundle, or Lunar Neo by itself. Isn't Neo the latest and greatest? Why would I want the AI version then? Or do I need AI in order for Neo to work? Thanks.

I actually thought the sample images were really basic. Like masking the leaf against a basic, contrasted background. Or the power lines against the sky...

Man, this is enough to make me buy a 2nd hand camera again , I used to spend hours on photoshop but also love to play guitar , I could only justify spending so much time on one and music always wins. With this I could fit both into my life

Hi Unmesh, thanks for this (and all the other awesome content you share) I do a lot of composite work and no matter what masking software I use, it's still a struggle especially hair. Is the Neo mask feature any better than PS? Also could I use Neo within PS to create a mask layer?

Luminar is the best. I have been using it for awhile now in combine with light room. And I just pre-ordered Neo. Can't wait.
With Lightroom? Wow! That's indeed a good combination because you don't even have to move to Photoshop for complex things like sky replacements.

It's mindblowing what AI can do nowadays! It looks sci-fi. But on the other hand, there's the risk some people will creare completely fake photos and we won't be able to tell what's real what not. And we didn't even reach the full potential of AI editing.

Brilliant presentation as all of your videos are but.... I pre ordered Neo months ago and am following all I can about it. The release date is STILL not known, Winter is coming but not soon enough,. I have read that many of the great features will not be in the first edition and will be added on further updates. Your thoughts
For me, Luminar AI has been "okay but not great". In my case, I feel it's aimed at a more consumer audience, who wants an easier editing path. Maybe Luminar Neo will be different... 🤷♂️

Hi Raj :) It's up to you. If you want to start using the product now, you might have to get Luminar AI as well. But if you wish to wait, you can just get the Neo.

Like a set of images with same background, but different people each (Kindergarden photoshoot)? Such as in Lightroom, the presets? If yes, would you recommend using Luminar instead of LR? Thanks for the question :) You sure can create templates in Luminar and apply it to a series of images. Personally, I don't use Luminar as a replacement of Photoshop or Lightroom, rather I use it as a plugin to help me achieve better results, faster, in the same program.

I just checked their previous version and didn't find it very useful for me. I wished that the remove sky option was actually also for all kinds of backgrounds. That would make my job a lot easier.

And if luminar is starting to give manual control then Adobe should be worried. And I'm also glad to see finally there is some compitition in photo editor industry

Can’t lie. Not a big fan of luminar. Rather than updating the software they create new software and abandon the prior app. Lots of crashes etc. that being said, I’m very happy that they exist and are making these advances, Adobe releases updates ludicrously slow. Updates in the editing market are good for all of us!
Luminar is garbage if you're not on Mac OS, on windows it is ridiculously slow

Supposedly a new engine underneath. I hope that it will make a difference. And yes, companies need to make money. With LR you have to pay for a subscription and most other software bring out a new version every year which you also don't get without paying accordingly.
@@Ni5ei Yes, that they bragged a year ago. "we don't have any subscriptions, by once and use forever". Little did I knew the actual new features or even some more options for sky replacements were behind an extra fee.

How detailed will Neo be able to isolate different parts of an image? For example, in the shirt you are wearing in this video, will the program be able to separate the "guitar" in your shirt and to put on a different layer? I'm okay with picking the guitar so to let the program know what I'm trying to chose. Or is there another Luminar program that would do this?
Hi! Luminar Neo won't be able to create a mask for a guitar automatically, but you will be able to select an object manually.
Besides, we are planning to introduce Mask AI with the first free update to Luminar Neo. With this tool, you will be able to automatically select the sky, a person, some trees, some buildings, the road and the mountains.

Around 90-95 percent of the essential features is expected to be there. And tge features that are missing, will either eventually be added with the next updates, or the new features might make some old features obsolete.

If I buy 2 computers license, can I use 2 computers at the same time? Or one computer cannot be used while the other is being used?
If you're already good with photoshop, I can't see why you should use Neo. Much more control.
Hi Huib, it's the convenience and the massive amount of time that you save by having the AI take over all the heavy lifting. For instance, yes we can replace skies in Photoshop, but it would take time to mask properly (even with the new sky replacement feature), match the lighting, and create the reflection. All this can be done with one button in Luminar, and tweaked according to your needs.

I hope Neo will be much faster to work with then AI. AI is painfully slow on multiple D850 RAW files. Great as single image plugin though.

@@alij0n3s That is somewhat true, It's a Ryzen 5 3600x 64GB Ram system which runs LR, PS etc pretty snappy. Ryzen 5 3600 is the minimum spec required so it might be faster on a higher spec CPU with very large RAW files. But it still a very demanding and inefficient piece of software imho.
@@JasperBolderdijk I bought a new computer specifically to address this issue and even with fast cpu and memory, its very slow and crashes all the time.
@@TomWarrenPhotography believe me, my Ryzen 7 with a 2080ti and my MBA M1 has really issues running AI, in both they run slow. Adobe Flies tho for real pro work

It is good to see some stiff competition for Adobe. I also like the pricing. I had a Photoshop subscription for many years and finally ended it last year. I insist on paying once and be done with it otherwise you feel chained to a company.
But if you think about it... That's not the case with Skylum. Every year a new version comes out, and support for previous version dies down. Either you pay the $70 or lose it. It almost makes subscription based not look bad at all.

It's probably from the Logitech mx series
Personally, I prefer to use the Logitech M570 wireless which is a trackball wireless as this allows just the use of the thumb instead of providing wear and tear on the whole arm/wrist. Also an alternative that many folks use is a tablet such as one from Wacom.

it is lifetime but keep in mind that Skylum tends to create new products annually so depending upon your needs as an editor of images, you may or may not wish to purchase the next generation as updates for a specific program usually end annually but there are often a number offered during each quarter.
Another AI Softwares, it is an encouragement for all IT Professionals to upgrade and work fo skills development.
This may help a lot of people With Lumina AI and nero running on an AMD 6core core 12 threads 16 gig ddr4 ram and fast m2 drive. Running this software shows very low ram and CPU usage but hard drive going crazy and slowing the system to crawl cant even play a mp3 with using nero.
I have had this problem for ages but now it seems its down to were Nero writes edits to save cpu and ram by default it writes to users pictures I had 5300 files in there and several gigs.
This may happen to others if you run MS onedrive or Google backup by default it backs up the pictures folder so what happens is Nero writes a gig to the drive and Onedrive backs it straight away so 2 gig writing to disk and 1 gig going to the cloud which slows any system to a crawl. So if your having problems delete the folders in picture Nero complain to create a new catalogue set it to folder on a fast drive that Onedrive or Google don’t backup
