The bench image shows the elements of a extremely well done portrait from facial view, to lighting to body element positioning. I know that the tutorial is meant to teach beginners about image editing but editing can only do so much without the basics of the image construction before the shutter is depressed.
In this image some thing to note are a. the placement of the long hair on both sides of the face. Different lengths add to the composition resulting in leading lines and stoppage of the eye from departing the image.
    b. The facial view. While it is not a full 2/3 view nor a complete Full Face, this is because the 2/3 view is generally seen when the nose connects with the inner edge of the far eye but does not provide a cut out of the orbit of the eye. With a subject as we see here has a wider eye orbit then the nose will be turned more to the center but not quite now a 2/3 or full face. Very well done!
    c. Lighting, when outdoors this can be difficult to totally control but here is a nice soft modified butterfly lighting pattern.
    d. Next is the leg placement. This is as good as it gets. When posing the seated female subject and one with exposed legs, bend the leg closest to the camera but also bend the back leg and don't leave it flat on the support item such as a bench or log etc.
Now look to the feet and see how by controlling the bend of the rear leg, a strong leading diagonal is created from the back foot to the front foot and then this diagonal begins to flow upward to the knee and along the thigh line to the body of the subject.
    e. as the eye travels up the leg and just past the knee, there is a split in the direction that the eye can decide to wander but well chosen by the photographer. First look at the line of the forearm of the right arm as it has a diagonal that not only leads the eye to the body but due to the color of the sweater also creates contrast which is another compositional tool that can be used to help the viewer look at a well constructed portrait like this one.
    f. Back to the forearm and the right hand. When posing a human subject, it is always a good idea to try to follow the concept of "if it bends, bend it". Note the bend of the fingers and how softly they are posed. See too how they are placed to allow the eye to follow them up to the wrist and next along the bent right arm which is carefully placed to fit the sweater and not leave too large a hole that will draw they eye to the background and not the subject,
    g. Now the eye follows the long hair up to the head and around down the hair for a shorter trip to the nicely bent left arm leading the the hand well placed to allow for the fingers to bend gracefully. This is always difficult to achieve because the key is to move the hand forward enough to use the heel of the hand on the support object and thus the fingers can fall freely over the edge with a soft ben to them. Also not that the hand has a nice turn (bend!) to it back toward the body to the left creating a circular motif that keeps they rotating through the image continuously
    h. The selection of the clothing is perfect for tying together the lower high key effect of skin color and white shorts with the low key of the sweater and the hair.
This is a most impressive image and would be perfect as a classroom lecture/demonstration at any PPA or PPOC convention. I have thoroughly enjoyed viewing this image and the use of Luminar NEO Portrait editing techniques.
