The Titanic could sink and Mr Carson would still make me feel like everything is under control with a strategic plan in place.

When they cast Jim Carter for this role, it was dead on. No one could have played this part better.
Flawless casting all around, but Jim Carter was born to play the butler of a distinguished house.
There was a definite pep in his step along with the smile on his face the morning he returned to Downton as the butler in the movie. That scene was a pleasure to behold. Probably why they made it a trailer.
I loved his character the most. I believe if “a man called ove” were to be adapted to film, Jim Carter would be perfect for “ove” role too
He did an excellent job but truthfully I don't think he was well cast. My concept of a butler is someone less blustery and much more refined. The butler that the dowager countess had seemed to be a much better fit.
Carson is one of the center pieces of the series! Loved Carter’s portrayal. Wonderful work!

That scene where hes alone at the house with little sybbie and then he brings her around the house cooing at her was so sweet and you could see the sadness in his eyes from losing Sybil.

My favourite thing is when Carson teaches Alfred the difference between the silverware. He's like a proud papa.
How he helped Ms. Pattmore reveal that she was losing her sight, how he treated Mr. Lang, he's always come off to me as someone who is happy to give chances to people who generally do their best and take the job seriously. His treatment of Alfred and how that played alongside Mosely was great too.
Discussing the wife duties with Ms Patmor really got me 😂😂😂
Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes were the mom and dad of downstairs Downton.
I still cannot believe just how much I enjoyed Downton Abbey, each and every character.

@Debbie LL, as awkward as the conversation must have felt for people of that period (as talking about your personal/private wishes was a big no-no), watching again how Carson talks about Elsie to Mrs Patmore made me gush with "aww"s.
"Tell her that in my eyes, she is beautiful. I love her, Mrs Patmore. I am happy and tickled and bursting with pride that she would agree to be my wife, and I want us to live as closely as two people can for the time that remains to us on earth." 😍
The scene where they hold hands on the beach and the moment when he says the “stuck with you” line are my two favourite moments in the entire show, no question. I love both of the characters and was so pleased that they finally got together.
Mrs Patmore talking to Mr Carson about the terms of the marriage was also wonderful, especially when he pauses and then says “I love her, Mrs Patmore” 😭

Carson is so fantastic, difficult to believe he is acting. I find his relationship with Mary especially unique and so very sweet, she is the daughter he never had, he, the Grandfather she has never had, so special.

Carson has an amazing voice
The beach scene is probably one of my favorite moments in downtown abbey and on television, the dialogue between him and Mrs. Hughes and Daisy's and Mrs. Pattmores glance was so beautiful and funny and romantic.
Absolutely, it's one of the best scenes
"TAKE STEPS MR. MOSELEY, TAKE, STEPS" after Mr. Moseley dyed his hair was by far my favorite line.

I never watched when aired it's 6 seasons in America I have been binge watching last 3 days slowing down only because I don't want to watch last 7 episodes quickly, I've grown to love these characters, ALL of them.. Even the Movie wasn't enough and I saw it twice, please bring the series back, I can't get enough

Sad it's over but try searching for Princess Mary on google. The rabbit hole of Downton period real history is great. I went from her to the Boer War, Russian revolution, Mrs Simpson and back in 10 minutes.
Give it time and don't rush on it...Cherish it like a sweet candy slowly. It will take you through the summer.

What a lovely relationship of comraderie and affection between Mr. Carson, Mrs. Hughes, and Mrs. Pattmore that they could be there for each other with health crises and personal matters.

It is quite difficult in real life today to find peoples with Integrity, honesty, mindful for details as Mr. Carson. It is also difficult to get a person with extreme humbleness and generosity as Mrs. Hughes. They finally make a perfect couple. I grew up watching "Downton" with my parents in my teenage years, and Carson definitely had an impact on me. I now work with children as a full-time job, and every now and then I find that it's best that they "have a good little cry". If a boy or a girl wants to sit on my lap, cry, and feel sorry for them self, I say: let 'em! It's good for a kid to show every emotion available to them. In the meantime I will make sure that they know I will do everything I can to make them feel better again. But sometimes all they need is to "have a goo little cry", and then they are ready to face the world again.
I've forgotten how great this series was. An all time great show! I loved the movie and I was finally able to get my husband to watch the show!

Mrs. Patmore's "Yes, that's it. I think we've got there. " has to be the funniest line in this whole 18 minute clip, possible in the whole series.
An Iconic voice
Carson and Mrs Hughes’ relationship was so lovely. The warts and all scene had me blubbing I was so happy. And the convo between Mrs Patmore and Carson was both hilarious and touching. It reminded me of my grandparents lol

Well, Dame Maggie is known to be friends with Imelda Staunton, (as much as their acting roles together have often shown them as opposites - insert Harry Potter), who happens to be Jim's wife.
The complete perfection in the choices made of every cast member in this series is nothing short of miraculous and made Downton Abbey the award winning hit that it is. I’ve never been so impatient as when waiting for the the next episode from week to week and doubt that I ever will again.

I did love this storyline. Carson had to let go of his antiquated ideas, and it was so hard for him. He was such a stalwart for the family.
Ive never watched downton so I don't know who is who or what is going on but the line "and Madge has found a job in a shop" made me laugh very loudly. Fantastically delivered.

My favorite downstairs characters are Carson, Ms. Patmore, and I actually liked Thomas' wittiness also! My favorite upstairs characters were Aunt Violet, Lady Edith, and Aunt Rosamund. I thought Bertie was a sweetheart also. This is by far my favorite show. Nothing has topped it yet.
